When questioned regarding his decision to shift from the one one position approaching the 800m Driver Z Butcher explained that he was aware that LINCOLN LINDA had jumped shadows rounding the first turn so had been reluctant to follow that filly. Mr Butcher further explained that his runner had not been handling the bends well so felt it was his best option to improve around to the parked position rather than try to make ground wide rounding the final turn.

RIPPLES - shied outwards near the 300m despite the efforts of the driver, locking wheels with ALECTO, hampering outside and trailing runners. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners. A protest was lodged under Rule 869(A)(2) against 1st placing being awarded to RIPPLES (B Orange) by Driver C Alford (ALECTO) alleging interference near the 300m. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from both drivers and Stewards, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest and placings were duly authorised.
