Mr Orange further added that he had been more than satisfied with the manner in which the gelding had finished the event off when making up considerable ground in the run home.

The start was delayed at the first attempt due to LORD POPINJAY breaching the 35m barrier despite the efforts of Driver M Ranger. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. A false start was declared at the 2nd attempt due to the 20m barrier failing to release. The start was further delayed after COURMAYEUR reared and fell to the track with this runner declared a late scratching at 5.17pm on veterinary advice. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. There was an additional delay at the request of the TAB with the race eventually being run approximately 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.
