For R46 to R50 trotters. First 4 placed runners from the Heats run on 18th July are automatic qualifiers for the Final $35,000 to be run on 25th July should they be nominated. Balance of the field for the Final to be selected based on overall form from the Heats. Heats & Final limited to 12 starters with up to 2 emergencies. Please Note: The Final will have a maximum back mark of 30m. Should a horse win both a Heat and the Final, the Final will be plenty free. Automatic qualifiers for the final will not be permitted to start in any other race on the race night of 25th July.

CASTANA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Weakened final turn. Driver T Hanara reported that she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 500m. It was established that HIGH ENERGY had contacted the wheel when CASTANA shifted in marginally entering the turn. Stewards were satisfied that neither driver were solely at fault and took the matter no further.

After viewing the replays and hearing from Junior Driver J Dunn, assisted by R Dunn, Stewards were satisfied BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER had over-raced when improving on to the back of JASINOVA resulting in the contact occurring with a warning being placed on the gelding's racing manners.

Dr Chin explained that he had encountered difficulty when attempting to follow THE MOONSTONE which had become fractious and as a result turned into line in a position to the inside of BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER which had drawn unruly 1. After considering the matter Stewards extended leniency on this occasion given the circumstances and took the matter no further other than to remind Dr Chin of his obligations.

The start was delayed when DRAGONSTONE reared and lunged forward through the front barrier. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. The start was further delayed when DRAGONSTONE again reared and went through the front barrier, however it was established there had been an issue with the 10m handicap horses which resulted in Starter D Blakemore not being satisfied that a fair start could be effected. The race eventually started 7 minutes late.
