First 3 placed runners from the Heats run on 17th & 24th October are automatic qualifiers for the Final $35,000 to be run on 31st October should they be nominated. Balance of the field for the Final should this be required to be selected based on overall form from the Heats. Heats & Final limited to 12 starters. Horses must have competed in a heat to be eligible to contest a final or been balloted out of or eliminated from a heat that was run. Also, eligible are horses that accepted into a heat that was abandoned. Should a horse win both a Heat and the Final, the Final will be plenty free. Those automatic qualifiers for the Final are not eligible for any other race on the night of the Final, 31 October 2025.
MICK KONSTANTIN - lay inwards striking track markers near the 800m. Struck track markers final bend. Driver J Abernethy was issued a warning. Shifted out near the 180m briefly placing an outside runner in restricted room. Raced greenly throughout the run home. Stewards spoke with Mr Abernethy regarding his apparent lack of control throughout the run home. Mr Abernethy advised the gelding was still inexperienced, had raced greenly on several occasions in the running, and particularly in the run home, and he will be considering gear changes. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Notwithstanding this Stewards reminded Mr Abernethy of his obligations to exercise greater control of his horse in the future.
MICK KONSTANTIN - when questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver J Abernethy stated that the gelding felt lethargic early and could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MICK KONSTANTIN - over-raced early and middle stages. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner and lay inwards with Driver J Abernethy reporting that he did not activate the removable deafeners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
IM SANDRA DEE - raced wide throughout when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by the over-racing MUSIC MISTRESS. Placed in restricted room by an outside runner late in the run home.
SKYS LEGACY - locked wheels with an outside runner rounding the first turn and broke losing ground. Checked when locking wheels with an inside runner near the 500m losing all chance.
NEW KID IN TOWN - over-raced near the 1000m becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of SKYS LEGACY and paced roughly for several strides before continuing to over-race for some distance. Held up early stages of the run home.
ALLETS - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dunn stated that the filly was having its first start for a month and had peaked on its run, adding he was not disappointed with the effort.
CAPTAIN MOONLIGHT - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Herlihy advised he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
HES NOT THAT INTO U - shied and broke just short of the winning post. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging this runner was in a break as it reached the finish line and was lapped by MR MIKI. After viewing the replays trainer/driver T Herlihy did not contest the protest and HES NOT THAT INTO U was relegated to 2nd placing by Stewards.
