EVERNDEN - raced wider briefly approaching the 1400m when IRON MIKE TYSON shifted out from the running line. It was established that driver M White (IRON MIKE TYSON) had commenced his outward movement prior to EVERNDEN reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Weakened leaving the final bend.

Driver T Cameron admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. Raced wide with cover from the 1300m. Lay in rounding the final turn when attempting to improve wide.

MAGENTA - locked wheels with an inside runner passing the 400m losing all chance. Stewards questioned junior driver H Moralde Sands (assisted by T Herlihy) regarding this matter and after viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that the filly while improving quickly rounding the final bend had hung inwards causing Miss Moralde Sands some difficulty when being shifted wider on the track by MERLE MARY which resulted in both runners locking wheels. After considering all factors, Stewards deemed that no further action was required.

MERLE MARY - raced greenly in the score up and was back from position at the start. When questioned Driver C Hackett confirmed that she had not been denied a fair start when LIL MAC, which she was drawn behind, was back from position late in the score up.

WAR CRY - became awkwardly placed to the sulky of DREAM LIGHT near the 300m contacting several track markers when being strongly restrained by Driver Z Butcher. Stewards were satisfied that WAR CRY had not gained an unfair advantage in this incident.

WAR CRY - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver Z Butcher advised the filly had travelled well during the running however had been disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of muscle tie up.

SAMMY LINCOLN - had to be steadied passing the 1700m briefly hampering a trailing runner.

SAMMY LINCOLN - paced roughly late in the score up losing ground. Driver H Orange advised that the removable deafeners had failed to activate despite his efforts.

SAMMY LINCOLN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver H Orange. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.

SAMMY LINCOLN - broke approaching the 275m and galloped a considerable distance before settling. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding broke in excess of 50m in the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and SAMMY LINCOLN was disqualified by Stewards.

Then required assistance from an attendant with a warning being placed on this runner's barrier manners. Lay in near the 900m having to be steadied and paced roughly for several strides. Paced roughly again near the 300m after having been shifted wider by an inside runner.
