WESTAR MILLY - held up early in the run home. Driver B Hope defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground near the 250m checking DOWNTOWN ORLANDO (R Jenkins) which broke with the trailing ROYAL YANKEE also being crowded and striking a track marker. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver R Jenkins, Mr Hope elected to change his plea and admit the charge. After penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hope's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 1 May 2024 (3 days).

BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER - broke passing the 200m contacting the sulky wheel of JASINOVA losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing from Junior Driver J Dunn, assisted by R Dunn, Stewards were satisfied BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER had over-raced when improving on to the back of JASINOVA resulting in the contact occurring with a warning being placed on the gelding's racing manners.

Prkd,into ld 1850,dictated,run down

JASINOVA - Driver L Chin was shown the replay and questioned in relation to the position that he was occupying at dispatch when drawn unruly 2. Dr Chin explained that he had encountered difficulty when attempting to follow THE MOONSTONE which had become fractious and as a result turned into line in a position to the inside of BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER which had drawn unruly 1. After considering the matter Stewards extended leniency on this occasion given the circumstances and took the matter no further other than to remind Dr Chin of his obligations.

When questioned regarding his decision to remain on the back of the leader SANINARMBRO approaching the 500m prior to having been covered by CASTANA, Junior Driver J Dunn (assisted by B Butcher) explained that SANINARMBRO appeared to be travelling well at this stage and felt that the mare would take him to the passing lane however this had not occurred on this occasion. Stewards were satisfied that the manner in which Mr Dunn drove was not unreasonable given the circumstances and took the matter no further.
