It was established that Driver S Abernethy (EYRE I WILL) had commenced his outward movement prior to SANINARMBRO, which was improving wider on the track, reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. When questioned regarding the performance Driver R May stated that after having worked hard early he felt it was his best option to hand up when challenged by THE MOONSTONE given the 2700m distance of tonight's event. Mr May further advised that he felt the filly had gone to ease up for several strides when improving to the inside of the breaking FATHER BARRY passing the 150m before finishing on strongly over the final stages.

MELSADELE - raced wide after being hampered by a breaking near the 1300m. Weakened from the 600m. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Mitchell stated that he was disappointed with the run even after having been forced to race wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Co-trainer B Hackett advised that the mare would be turned out for a spell.

IT AIN'T ME BABE - pre-raced warmed. Raced wide early. Stewards investigated an incident near the 2000m where IT AIN'T ME BABE was obliged to race three wide briefly when racing to the outside of BANGKOK BETTY. It was established that CON GRAZIA LOVE had sufficient room to improve to the inside of BANGKOK BETTY which meant that Driver J Abernethy had little option other than to follow MELSADELE when that runner shifted out into the running line which resulted in IT AIN'T ME BABE being caught three wide briefly. Given the circumstances no further action was deemed necessary.
