Raced with its inside wheel protruding inside the track markers for a distance in the run home. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 869(7B) against the gelding being declared the winner, alleging that by racing with its inside wheel protruding inside track markers it gained an advantage through obtaining and improving into a run that would not otherwise have been available. After hearing evidence from Stewards, Driver S Wigg and connections, and reviewing the available race footage, the Adjudicative Committee was not satisfied that the gelding had gained an advantage as alleged and accordingly dismissed the protest.

ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - driver C DeFilippi advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled. Mr DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 15 March 2026 (2 days).

Connections did not contest the protest and EYRE I WILL was disqualified by Stewards.

HILLBILLY - lay inwards racing down the back straight on the last occasion. Broke near the 500m after improving to the inside of EAGLE HANOVER (S Abernethy) and becoming awkwardly positioned between that runner and THE FOUR ACES (J Stormont), which was racing to its inside, losing all chance. Stewards investigated the circumstances and spoke with Drivers J Stormont, S Abernethy and Junior Driver E Johnson(HILLBILLY), (assisted by T Macfarlane). After considering the evidence, it was established that HILLBILLY had initially been entitled to shift to the inside of EAGLE HANOVER however shortly afterwards EAGLE HANOVER had commenced to hang inwards under pressure and shifted marginally down the track simultaneously as HAPPY HILL (B Hackett) which was racing to the inside of both runners shifted marginally up the track. with the matter being taken no further.

When questioned regarding the performance Driver E Johnson stated that after losing ground at the start the gelding, which was racing older horses in tonight's event, had lay in entering the first turn losing more ground. Ms Johnson further stated that she had been instructed to save YA EEJIT YA for one run and had not received a trail into the race as she had hoped when JOHNNY WHO, which she was following, had failed to improve as expected. She also added that the gelding had trotted roughly early in the run home having to be steadied before finishing on well once balanced. Stewards noted Ms Johnson's comments.
