MATTY A - when questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama stated that he had been unable to get into the race from his 30m handicap but expected the gelding would derive benefit from the run.

BELLE NEIGE - raced wide from the 750m and was under pressure rounding the final turn before failing to run on. When questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Connections advised that they will be have blood tests taken from the mare in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.

CASTANA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Weakened final turn. Driver T Hanara reported that she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 500m. It was established that HIGH ENERGY had contacted the wheel when CASTANA shifted in marginally entering the turn. Stewards were satisfied that neither driver were solely at fault and took the matter no further.

When questioned regarding the performance, Driver Z Butcher advised that he was forced to make an earlier move than intended due to the horse in the parked position weakening, and as a result, his runner was unable to finish the race off strongly.
