TYTATE - commenced to over-race down the back straight the first time before being taking forward to lead near the 1300m. Continued to over-race from the 900m before contacting several track markers near the 750m. When questioned Driver M White advised that he had been placed at a disadvantage with the mare over-racing with Stewards taking the matter no further.

Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Driver T Macfarlane was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.

LEWEY MAGUIRE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie advised that tonight's event was a rise in grade and that he had been unable to find the lead so was not disappointed with the effort given the way the race was run.

LEWEY MAGUIRE - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver F Phelan advised the gelding was racing down in grade from recent starts and was able to dictate terms in front after beginning quickly from a wide draw.

LEWEY MAGUIRE - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1750m. Lay in leaving the back straight the final time and then shifted down inside the marker line after the off side rein became detached and took no further serious part. It was established that a pricker on the rein had shifted forward after being forced back against the saddle terret when the gelding had lay in resulting in the rein coming unfastened, with no further action deemed necessary other than to note the circumstances.

When questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie advised that the gelding had worked hard in the middle stages with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

Shifted out and paced roughly early in the run home when Junior Driver K Denifostova was attempting to activate the removable deafeners. Ms Denifostova, assisted by J Dickie, was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the home straight in future.

The race was stopped by Stewards acting under to Rule 211(A)(1)&(2) after DREAMS OF ERIC shied and broke shortly after the start before falling to the track severely checking IRISH WHISPERS, NELSON'S BOY and FRANCO MIKI with driver D Butcher being tipped from the sulky. DREAMS OF ERIC was immediately attended to by the on course Veterinarian before being transported from the track via the Horse Ambulance. The colt underwent a further examination which revealed superficial abrasions to both knees and the near hind. DREAMS OF ERIC was subsequently stood down pending a satisfactory trial and a veterinary clearance before resuming. FRANCO MIKI also underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed a small laceration to the off fore. Driver A Poutama (DREAMS OF ERIC) was attended to by St John Ambulance staff before being transported to Waikato Hospital for further assessment. Driver D Butcher was examined by St John Ambulance staff and cleared of any significant injury. Stewards directed that the event be re-run following the late scratchings of FRANCO MIKI and DREAMS OF ERIC on veterinary advice given that the race had been stopped within the first 1000m with all remaining runners undergoing Veterinary examinations and being cleared to start.
