A false start was declared when SACRED MOUNTAIN swung sideways just prior to the barriers being released. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. JASINOVA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start after having completed a lap of the track when becoming fierce following the false start. Sent to the outside of the unruly by Starter D Blakemore.

HALBERG - trotted roughly at various stages and in particular rounding the final turn and was not persevered with. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver C Hackett confirmed that the gelding had been rough in its gait. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. HALBERG - held up passing the 600m by a weakening runner. Driver M McKendry admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 500m when shifting ground outwards resulting in CROWN THE MOMENT being checked with the trailing IT AIN'T ME BABE also being checked. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McKendry's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 26 May up to and including 29 June 2023 (5 days).

ROMEO FOXTROT - Driver D Butcher admitted a charge under Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations on the grounds that he allowed his runner to shift outwards early in the home straight which resulted in MATTY A being forced wider checking NOBLE COUNT, which broke passing the 100m losing its chance. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Butcher's Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 31 December up to and including 4 January 2024 (2 days).

LORD POPINJAY - stood on the mark and was slow to begin after the 20m barrier failed to clear due to the gelding having shifted forward and breasted the tape just prior to release. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards viewed the replays of the start and were satisfied that this runner's chances had not been materially prejudiced in this incident. Junior Driver M Ranger, assisted by M White, was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly for allowing her runner to breast the barrier.
