MAGENTA - locked wheels with an inside runner passing the 400m losing all chance. Stewards questioned junior driver H Moralde Sands (assisted by T Herlihy) regarding this matter and after viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that the filly while improving quickly rounding the final bend had hung inwards causing Miss Moralde Sands some difficulty when being shifted wider on the track by MERLE MARY which resulted in both runners locking wheels. After considering all factors, Stewards deemed that no further action was required.

MERLE MARY - raced greenly in the score up and was back from position at the start. When questioned Driver C Hackett confirmed that she had not been denied a fair start when LIL MAC, which she was drawn behind, was back from position late in the score up.

RIVERGIRL BELLA - weakened final turn. A hopple side carrier came adrift during the running but no action was taken against Co-Trainers R Green & N Delany given that this gear had been taped.

RIVERGIRL BELLA - lay in entering the first turn having to be steadied which enabled LINCOLN LOVER to shift down on to the back of the leader.

RIVERGIRL BELLA - lay out passing the 200m. Paced roughly over the final stages. When questioned regarding his decision to shift from the one one position approaching the 800m Driver Z Butcher explained that he was aware that LINCOLN LINDA had jumped shadows rounding the first turn so had been reluctant to follow that filly. Mr Butcher further explained that his runner had not been handling the bends well so felt it was his best option to improve around to the parked position rather than try to make ground wide rounding the final turn.

LULANA - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied this runner had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.

LARISSA LILY - required the assistance of a Starting Attendant prior to the start. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a mobile start prior to resuming. Hung inwards and raced greenly near the 250m and again near the 100m having to be straightened.

LARISSA LILY - swung around when leaving the pre-race formation however was in position at the start. Co-trainer A Telfer advised she would be making gear changes prior to the filly racing next.

LARISSA LILY - fractious prior to the start. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.

NYMBAL - raced four wide from the 600m. Shifted in approaching the 50m having to be corrected by Driver J Dickie.

GEORGIE BEST - broke near the 1200m after briefly locking sulky stays with an inside runner after both horses shifted ground and was taken up the track before settling. Raced greenly approaching the 250m and shifted out briefly locking wheels with MOVE IT LOU, which was checked, with NYMBAL,CYCLONE REBEL, PRINCE LINCOLN and WAR CHIEF being hampered. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Driver S Abernethy advised that the colt had raced keenly after contacting its sulky wheel disc over the early stages.

NYMBAL - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver Z Butcher. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m. Lay inwards throughout the run home.

MISS CHEROKEE - lay outwards and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of IT'S NOT KATHY over the concluding stages. Driver J Dunn advised he had difficulty steering the filly on several occasions.

GLORIA STEINEM - became awkwardly placed close to the back of MISS CHEROKEE near the 650m having to be steadied. When questioned regarding this and also the performance trainer/driver T Herlihy advised that the blinds had required attention by an attendant before the start but had then shifted during the running resulting in the filly racing greenly on several occasions proving difficult to steer.
