GOTTA GO MIKI - weakened during the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Driver L Hollis reported the mare was not suited to racing in the parked position.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
GOTTA GO MIKI - broke near the 150m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Stewards questioned drivers C Hackett (DELIGHTFUL CHIC) and L Hollis (GOTTA GO MIKI) regarding a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1200m. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from both drivers, Stewards were satisfied that when driver L Hollis shifted outwards, a full run was available to the inside of DELIGHTFUL CHIC, as this runner was already racing in a three-wide position. Consequently, no further action was taken.
ARDEN'S MEMORY - co-trainers M & N Purdon were issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to notify the mare would be racing with sliding blinds. Raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Held up rounding the final turn.
CAPTAINS SECRET - lay inwards early in the run home striking track markers. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama advised the gelding had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
CAPTAINS SECRET - broke entering the first bend hampering trailing runners and galloped for a considerable distance before settling towards the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners
CAPTAINS SECRET - raced erratically shortly after the start and shifted out briefly checking an outside runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
MICK KONSTANTIN - lay inwards striking track markers near the 800m. Struck track markers final bend. Driver J Abernethy was issued a warning. Shifted out near the 180m briefly placing an outside runner in restricted room. Raced greenly throughout the run home. Stewards spoke with Mr Abernethy regarding his apparent lack of control throughout the run home. Mr Abernethy advised the gelding was still inexperienced, had raced greenly on several occasions in the running, and particularly in the run home, and he will be considering gear changes. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Notwithstanding this Stewards reminded Mr Abernethy of his obligations to exercise greater control of his horse in the future.
MICK KONSTANTIN - when questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver J Abernethy stated that the gelding felt lethargic early and could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Herlihy advised that the gelding had to work through the middle stages which may have taken its toll.
WORDS - over-raced middle stages when leading. Shifted outwards rounding the final turn and then again passing the 100m hampering outside runners. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 869A(2) against 1st placing being awarded to WORDS (Junior Driver E Johnson assisted by J Abernethy) on the grounds of alleged interference to the outside runners 2nd placed MUCHACHO (Junior Driver H Orange assisted by Trainer Z Meredith), 3rd placed BARBAROSSA (Junior Driver B Wilkins assisted by B Butcher) and 4th placed MELODY BANNER (Junior Driver J Dunn assisted by B Hackett). After viewing the replays and hearing the relative evidence Stewards did not proceed with the protest in relation to the interference to the 3rd and 4th placed runners after it was established that they would not have beaten the winner. The Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest in relation to interference to the 2nd placed MUCHACHO and relegated WORDS to 2nd placing behind that runner. Stewards took no action against Driver E Johnson as they were satisfied that she had fulfilled her obligations in relation to the corrective action she took throughout the run home. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
WORDS - over-raced middle stages when leading. Junior driver E Johnson (assisted by driver M White) admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting inwards entering the first bend checking TWO JULES which broke losing ground, hampering trailing runners . After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicate Committee imposed a fine of $400.

CALORIEFREE - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1750m when this runner appeared to force TIGHT LINES to race wider on the track, however after the viewing replays it was established that Driver T Macfarlane (CALORIEFREE) had commenced his outwards movement prior to TIGHT LINES (T Herlihy) reaching his sulky wheel and simultaneously raced greenly causing Mr Macfarlane some difficulty. Stewards elected not to take the matter any further other than to place a warning on the gelding's racing manners. Paced roughly rounding the final turn and lay inwards when being shifted wider on the track early in the run home. Again paced roughly throughout the run home.

LAKELSA - lay outwards early in the run home and was held up for clear racing room until inside the 50m. Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding his decision to shift outwards early in the run home when a run to the inside of RUBY ROE was available. After hearing from Mr Close and reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied that his decision was not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

HAPPY HILL - when questioned with regard to his minimal vigour and failure to activate the removable deafeners in the home straight Co-Trainer/Driver B Hackett stated that the gelding was a twenty start maiden which had proved difficult in its previous racing when breaking for no apparent reason. He further explained that this runner had felt uneven in its gait when the tempo increased down the back straight the final time and had then been on the inside rein when laying out when attempting to use the passing lane in the run home placing him at a disadvantage. Mr Hackett also added that he had reined the horse up over the final stages and that the gelding would race in a fixed deafener hood for the immediate future. Stewards noted his comments.

HILL BILLIE BUNDY - broke near the 1350m hampering trailing runners losing all chance, with GRACE N ELEGANCE being checked and having to take evasive action.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
EYE SEE YOU - shifted out in the run home hampering an outside runner. Authorisation of the gelding's first placing was withheld until Driver J Abernethy (CYCLONE SALA) (2nd placing) confirmed that his chances had not been affected.
