IT'S NOT KATHY - badly hampered by a weakening runner near the 950m then shifted outwards forcing HEAVEN HIGH wider on the track. Stewards questioned Drivers T Cameron (IT'S NOT KATHY) and M Ranger (HEAVEN HIGH) in relation to this incident. It was established that HEAVEN HIGH had lay inwards when IT'S NOT KATHY shifted ground to its inside and overreacted. Notwithstanding this Mr Cameron was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in the future.

MISS CHEROKEE - lay outwards and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of IT'S NOT KATHY over the concluding stages. Driver J Dunn advised he had difficulty steering the filly on several occasions.

Promoted to 3rd place following the protest hearing. Stewards exercised their discretion under the Breaking Horses Regulation in relation to this runner's promoted 3rd placing given that the filly broke as a result of interference.

IMPOSING SEA - veered out passing the 300m shortly after Trainer/Driver B Butcher activated the removable deafeners then broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. When questioned Mr Butcher confirmed that the gelding had taken fright and that he would be looking to make a gear change prior to resuming.

ENZO - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver Z Butcher stated that the gelding had not been suited to having to race without cover from the 1100m. Mr Butcher further stated that although this had not been his preferred option he felt that he was obligated to shift out to the parked position rather than being covered by the improving IMPOSING SEA.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
