Where a programmed 2YO race has exactly four (4) acceptors at the close of withdrawals, Harness Racing New Zealand, at its discretion, may elect to proceed with the race and apply a 20% reduction to the advertised stake. If this race is not held these horses will be transferred to Race 5 and conditions altered.

Preferential Barrier Draws will be used if deemed necessary numbering sequentially from 1. Any horses balloted or eliminated for Race 10 will become eligible for this race and conditioned altered. The stake for the lowest rating race will be $10,000, middle race(s) $11,000 and highest race $12,000.

For up to & including R50 4yo-&-older pacing mares. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Rating then Winning Stakes numbering sequentially from 1. See special condition No.7

Special Conditions

  1. RIGHT OF RE-ENTRY TIME

    Shall be 5pm on day before raceday.

  2. ORIGINAL NOMINATIONS

    In the event horses are transferred to another race from the trainer, selection preference will be given to original nominations received for that race.

  3. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NOMINATORS

    Owners and Trainers are reminded that the bureau has the right to transfer any horse not selected to start in a race for which it was nominated to ANY OTHER RACE ON THE PROGRAMME for which it may be eligible. If you do not wish the bureau to exercise it's right to transfer a particular nominated horse then it is your responsibility as the nominator to advise the bureau of the same.

  4. SPLITTING FIELDS

    In the event any race or races are split on this Programme, unless specific in the individual race conditions, races will be split and selected at the bureau's discretion, with consideration given to Ratings in the first instance.

  5. DUAL ACCEPTORS/NOMINATORS

    In the event that horses have gained a start at another meeting these horses are not guaranteed to gain a start at this meeting.

  6. GOLD CHIP

    For non-win, or up to 1 win trotters for lifetime aged two years and older at the closing of nominations for the Winton HRC meeting to be held on Thursday 7th May 2026. Conditions: 1. Open to all trotters aged two years and older that have never won a race (non-winners), or have won one win for lifetime. 2. To be eligible to start in the Gold Chip Championship Trot a horse must start in at least one race or an open trot race run by Southern Harness Racing Clubs (Winton HRC, Invercargill HRC and Forbury Park TC) in the period from 7th May 2026 through to 5th July 2026. The 'R' rating horses must win their second respective race at one of the Southern Harness meetings to be eligible 3.Field selection for the Gold Chip Championship will operate as follows: Most wins at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, most 2nds at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, most 3rds at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, then Bureau Discretion. 4.The $15000 Gold Chip Championship held on 13th July at the Invercargill HRC meeting and will be raced over 2200m, from a standing start. (non-winners) will start from the front line, R rated horses from a 20 metre handicap.

  7. SILK ROAD SOUTHERN WINTER SERIES NO.1

    This series will consist of 2 heats and a Final. Heat 1 to be held on 7th May Winton 1609m, Heat 2 17th May Invercargill 1700 and Final 24th May Winton 1609m. Heats will be held for $15,000 and Final $30,000. 1. For mares rated up to and including R50 at the close of nominations for Heat 1 of this series. 2. A horse must have competed in a heat to be eligible to contest a final. 3. Heat Winners are automatic qualifiers for finals, if nominated. 4. Horses that win a Heat and a Final will receive a Rating Penalty Free win in the Final. 5. Mares eligible for the first heat of the series remain eligible for all further races in this series. 6. Fields for all heats in these series will be selected on Ratings (highest to lowest) 7. All races in these series are restricted to race winners only 8. A minimum of six acceptors are required for a heat or final to proceed. 9. In the event of extraordinary entries for any given heat, the HRNZ Bureau reserves the right to run an additional heat(s) 10. Remainder of the field will be selected by the Bureau, with Preference given to horses that competed in the most heats.
