SZYBKA LANE - trainer G Telfer was warned for presenting the mare with the incorrect saddlecloth. Weakened rounding the final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

FLYING BIRD - junior driver B Fodie (assisted by M Hurrell) was shown the replays and issued a warning for her lack of judgement when electing not to improve her position outwards to obtain cover following SZYBKA LANE when an opportunity existed for a distance passing the 900m. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of Miss Fodie's lack of race day experience.

STILL ROCKIN - Stewards questioned driver R Gutsell regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages, in particular when persisting in a challenge for the lead from the 1600m for a distance of 1000m and not giving his runner any respite. After hearing the explanation tendered Stewards issued Mr Gutsell with a charge under Rule 869(3)(g), which was admitted, in that he drove in a manner capable of diminishing the chances of the gelding finishing in its best possible position. After viewing the replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Gutsell's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 25 March up to and including 27 April 2024 (7 days.)

Shifted inwards near the 100m checking DECEPTIVE LEE which was forced inwards and locked wheels with HERE'S HERBIE with both runners losing ground. Driver R Close admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 100m when shifting ground inwards checking inside runners. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Close's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 5 October up to and including 13 October 2023 (2 days).

When questioned regarding the performance of a favoured runner driver B Barclay advised he was reluctant to progress forward given the tempo of the race and the mare had lay in rounding the final bend, adding he was not overly disappointed with the run.

KIKORANGI BLUE - paced roughly on various occasions during the running. The clip on the breastplate became detached during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Butt advised he was unable to work into the race through the back straight on the final occasion despite his efforts due to the strong tempo. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
