Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break during the running. Driver M Purvis defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he had driven carelessly when trailing too closely and allowing his runner to contact the sulky TRANSTASMAN BUBBLE and break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Purvis, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $400.

After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Versteeg's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 17 September 2023 (2 days).

PRINCESS PENNY - trainer A Hoffman was warned for being late to notify the mare would race with no whip. Trotted roughly throughout losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have abrasions to the left hind pastern consistent with striking itself during the running. Trainer A Hoffman advised they would be making alterations to the shoeing of the mare in an effort to rectify this tendency.
