TIDE AND TIME - over-raced middle stages. Driver R Close was warned for striking the sulky wheel of the weakening TALIESIN when shifting ground near the 700m. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful there had been no consequential effects as a result.

TIDE AND TIME - over-raced middle stages. Broke leaving the final bend checking outside runners. Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding this incident and after hearing his explanation it was established that TIDE AND TIME had become awkwardly placed close to sulky of BEACH FLYBYE which had commenced to weaken and had been slow to respond to Mr Close's effort to shift wider on the track resulting in TIDE AND TIME making contact with the sulky seat of BEACH FLYBYE with TIDE AND TIME breaking. After considering the matter Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of TIDE AND TIME. Mr Close advised the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Mr Close also reported that TIDE AND TIME lost its near fore shoe during the running.

RAKERO ROCKET - raced three wide with cover until the 800m. Junior driver H Sail was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.

Mr Dalgety reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered. Mr Dalgety also added he would be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding resuming.

TEDDY BAKER - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Fractious prior to the start. Hampered early in the score up however was in position at the start. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised the gelding had over-raced and he would be making gear changes prior to racing next.

Driver M Purvis admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.

KNOCKSHANBALLY - lay outwards in the run home and shifted up the track. When asked to comment on the improved performance trainer/driver S Thornley advised that after taking over the training he had freshened the gelding and it had been working well in the lead up to racing today.

Broke near the 400m losing all chance after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of KNOCKSHANBALLY. Declared a non-runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(j) due to being denied a fair start.
