SARGENT BEST - held up early in the run home. Paced roughly late in the run home and had to be steadied.
FRANKIE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SWAGGER MAN - over-raced middle stages.
CHAMBRAY - over-raced middle stages. Raced greenly passing the 700 metres.
Race 2   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. "RATTO" SHOWCASE HCP TROT
The start was delayed due to several horses being fractious with the field being turned away to readdress the barriers.
The start was further delayed due to RACHMANINOV and OUR PEGASUS PEARL being fractious.
READY I AM - over-raced early and middle stages. Held up near the 150 metres. Checked and fell when placed in restricted room near the 100 metres when runners either side shifted ground. Immediately attended to by the Veterinarian and was euthanised after sustaining a fracture to the near hind leg before being transported in the Horse Ambulance. Driver P Wakelin was unharmed in this incident.
VERTIGO - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
OUR PEGASUS PEARL - fractious prior to the re-start. Broke at the start losing all chance.
PETRONELLI GEE - held up for clear racing room near the 100 metres and shifted inwards placing PRINCE TEKA in restricted room which was taken inwards crowding READY I AM which was checked and fell. Driver B Orange admitted driving carelessly when shifting ground and after hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 22 April up to and including 25 April 2022 (2 days). When assessing this incident Stewards were not satisfied that Mr Orange was fully culpable for READY I AM falling after taking into account the outwards movement of AIGUILLE when in a break which had also contributed to this incident.
NORDIC PRINCE - began awkwardly. Checked and broke racing into the first bend when placed in restricted room. Trotted roughly when weakening from the 800 metres.
TAKE AFTER ME - tangled away.
HEAVENLY STRINGS - crowded by an outside runner racing into the first bend and was forced down the track resulting in an inside runner being checked. Broke near the 500 metres losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
AIGUILLE - broke near the 150 metres and shifted outwards marginally crowding READY I AM.
RACHMANINOV - fractious prior to the re-start and was sent to the unruly position by the Starter. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver T Grant admitted driving carelessly when he shifted ground racing into the first bend forcing HEAVENLY STRINGS inwards which resulted in NORDIC PRINCE being checked and breaking. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Grant's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing on 18 April up to and including 1 May 2022 (5 days). Raced wide from the 900 metres.
TRES MAGNIFIQUE - broke after 100 metres losing ground.
PRINCE TEKA - raced wide early. Hampered near the 100 metres.
MARTHA STUART - lay inwards throughout the run home.
Trainer B Weaver advised Stewards on 6 May that TRES MAGNIFIQUE has been treated by a chiropractor since last racing.
Race 3   AVON CITY FORD "RATTO" SHOWCASE MOBILE PACE
HAZER - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced early when being restrained to the rear of the field.
ARCHAIC LUSTRE - over-raced middle stages.
LUELLA - held up leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the mare had appreciated a change of gear to sliding blinds and received a favourable run back on the marker line.
TASMAN TEMPEST - over-raced middle stages. Held up leaving the final bend and throughout the run home.
Race 4   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS "RATTO" SHOWCASE MOBILE PACE
MACH QUILLAN - driver B Williamson reported he had not activated the sliding blinds or removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SZYBKA LANE - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field.
MIDFREW LUISIANABEAU - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer B White advised that considering the fast tempo of the race and having to work hard in the middle stages to take up a forward position he had not been disappointed with the effort.
FRANCO HOFFMAN - held up final bend and hung inwards when attempting to improve wider on the track. Continued to hang inwards in the run home.
MANHATTAN - driver B Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home and after hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
Race 5   CHRISTCHURCH NZ "RATTO" SHOWCASE MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to OFF THE EDGE sustaining a punctured sulky tyre in the score up when SONIC REIGN over-raced and made contact with its wheel despite the efforts of driver J Cox.
STELLAR ARDEN - broke as the start was effected and shifted outwards locking wheels with HEAVEN ON HIGH hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
HEAVEN ON HIGH - locked wheels with STELLAR ARDEN which shifted outwards at the start and broke losing ground.
WAVETHEBILL - hampered at the start. Driver R May was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
HE'S TOUGH - held up early in the run home.
LOU'S DEAL - hung inwards final bend striking several track markers when weakening. Trainer R Heads advised that the gelding would be sent for a spell.
PROVISEUR - over-raced middle stages.
SMOKIN ANNIE - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field.
ROLLYOUROWN - held up final bend and early in the run home. Driver T Williams reported he did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence.
OFF THE EDGE - hampered at the start. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver B Weaver reported he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds in consequence.
SONIC REIGN - hampered at the start. Driver J Cox reported the gelding had cast a shoe during the running.
MANJIMUP - hampered at the start. Held up final bend.
REGGIE GOLIGHTLY - out of position at the start. Driver G O'Reilly was issued with a warning. Over-raced middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 1300 metres. Weakened final bend.
Race 6   LONE STAR SIRES STAKES AGED TROTTERS CLASSIC (HCP TROT)
TIME UP THE HILL - swung sideways at the start hampering outside runners.
BAXTER - broke briefly at the start and again in the early stages losing ground. Held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres.
LIGHT OF DA MOON - held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres. Hung inwards final bend and struck a track marker.
MAJESTIC LAVROS - hampered at the start. Held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres. Broke near the 200 metres. Trainer D Jones requested a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a mild case of the thumps. Mr Jones advised he would have blood taken in the coming days and Stewards will follow up.
MATUA TANA - trainer P Nairn advised Stewards that the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing. Underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable length of time. Broke after 100 metres. Over-raced and was taken forward at the 1600 metres. Weakened when trotting roughly near the 600 metres. Driver G O'Reilly advised the horse had been striking the wheel discs during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MIDNIGHT DASH - co-trainer G Hope advised Stewards that the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing. Hampered at the start and again after 100 metres.
Trainer D Jones advised Stewards on 20 April that MAJESTIC LAVROS has undergone a lung wash since last racing which revealed no abnormalities and he will continue with the gelding's preparation.
Race 7   DAKINS "LIKMESIAH" THREE-YEAR-OLD STAKES MOBILE PACE
QUEEN OF DIAMONDS - broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
WOTSONYAMIND - over-raced through the middle stages resulting in the chin rest being displaced early in the run home. Driver B Orange was unbalanced in the sulky over the concluding stages when both of his feet slipped from the sulky footrests.
COACHELLA - over-raced early.
MOSSDALE BEN - raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
Race 8   HYDROFLOW NZ COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL (HANDICAP PACE)
BAD MEDICINE - an investigation was held into a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1400 metres when LAST TANGO IN HEAVEN raced wider on the track after BAD MEDICINE shifted outwards. It was established that driver T Mitchell (BAD MEDICINE) had commenced his outwards movement prior to LAST TANGO IN HEAVEN reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Briefly locked wheels with ARTATAC near the 500 metres.
SAM'S TOWN - began awkwardly.
ARTATAC - over-raced early. Briefly locked wheels with BAD MEDICINE near the 500 metres.
DASHING MAJOR - paced roughly after 100 metres.
HOMEBUSH LAD - began awkwardly and broke at the start losing ground.
KISS THE GIRLS - permission was granted for the gelding to race in alternative colours. Raced wide and over-raced early. Retired from the race near the 2400 metres after sustaining a punctured sulky tyre.
THE FALCON - shifted inwards after 100 metres when not clear of KISS THE GIRLS resulting in the trailing ALLAMERICANLOVER contacting the sulky wheel of KISS THE GIRLS. Driver G O'Reilly admitted driving carelessly in this incident and after hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 21 April up to and including 1 May 2022 (4 days).
TAIRLAW TOLL - over-raced middle stages. Raced roughly and struck track markers on the final bend.
ALLAMERICANLOVER - raced wide early. Lay outwards final bend and in the run home.
MACANDREW AVIATOR - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground. Held up final bend.
LAST TANGO IN HEAVEN - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wider on the track near the 1400 metres when BAD MEDICINE shifted outwards.
ROUGH AND READY - raced wide early.
Race 9   RICOH "RATTO" SHOWCASE HANDICAP TROT
REPEAT PAT - broke at the start losing ground.
BREAK FREE - fractious prior to the start and sent to the unruly position by the Starter. Continued to display poor barrier manners and as a result had its rump underneath the sulky shaft at the start losing all chance. Declared a non runner by Stewards due to unsatisfactory manners. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a stand.
BOYZ INVASION - fractious prior to the start and sent to the unruly position by the Starter. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Checked at the start and declared a non runner by Stewards after being denied a fair start.
SAMANTHAS MOON - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing all chance.
HANOVER DA MOON - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
RED HARBOUR - struck the wheel of MY MOMENT'S NOW near the 2300 metres and switched to a pace before breaking losing all chance. Driver K Cameron will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this.
FRANCO JOSIAH - broke after 200 metres losing all chance.
TRIXTON TIME - pre-race warmed. Broke at the start.
MY MOMENT'S NOW - driver T Williams advised he sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 2300 metres.
SIOUX PRINCESS - checked at the start and declared a non runner by Stewards due to being denied a fair start.
Driver K Cameron (RED HARBOUR) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he allowed his runner to contact the sulky wheel of MY MOMENT'S NOW near the 2300 metres which punctured with RED HARBOUR then switching to a pace before breaking. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Cameron's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 18 April up to and including 25 April 2022 (3 days).
Race 10   CANTERBURY STANDARDBRED BREEDERS STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
The start was delayed at the request of the TAB due to the enquiry in the previous race.
SHE'S TOUGH - over-raced early.
FOLKLORE- when asked to comment on the horse's performance trainer/driver J Cox reported the mare had been feeling the effects of recent racing and will be sent for a brief spell before resuming.
Race 11   FIRST DIRECT TAXIS "RATTO" SHOWCASE MOBILE PACE
NIKKI NOTO - hung inwards final bend contacting track markers.
KOWHAI SHADOW - raced wide early.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - driver T Herlihy admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
SNEAK A PEEK - lay inwards on the final bend contacting track markers.
MIGHTY REACTOR - driver S Tomlinson will be spoken to regarding her use of the whip in the coming days.
BEST TRIO - raced wide early.
CAB CALLOWAY - briefly hampered near the 1400 metres due to a slight easing of the pace.
JUSTACE - weakened final bend.

CHANGEAROUND - over-raced early and middle stages. Briefly hampered near the 1400 metres due to a slight easing of the pace.
