After hearing evidence and submissions from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after receiving penalty submissions, Mrs Negus' licence to drive was suspended from 6 December 2021 up to and including 6 April 2022 (4 months) and in addition was fined $400.

Race Comments

Race 1   CLARKSON SIGNS HANDICAP TROT
ONE APOLLO - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1050 metres when ONE APOLLO shifted wider on the track. After viewing the replays it was established that ONE APOLLO had commenced its shift prior to AMERICAN PRIDE reaching its sulky wheel and accordingly no further action was required. Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer B White advised in his opinion the gelding may not have backed up from its previous performance on a rain affected track at Methven. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with Mr White in the coming days.
AMERICAN PRIDE - broke briefly at the start. Attempted to improve on the final bend before weakening in the early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver M Purdon advised he was disappointed with the performance and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Trainer B White advised Stewards on 23 December that ONE APOLLO has been treated with antibiotics subsequent to the race after having a slow recovery. Mr White added that the horse has been sent to co-trainers G Anderson & M Love for the immediate future in an attempt to freshen the gelding on the beach with a view of resuming at the Central Otago TC meeting on 2 January 2022.
