Race 1   THE JOINER SHOP PACE
MISS MARKLE - broke shortly after the start hampering an inside runner.
STAR CASINO - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
HILDA MAUD - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts.
DOUBT I'M DREAMING - weakened final bend.
OPAWA LOUIE - driver K Cameron reported that he had not been able to release the removable deafeners due to the clip breaking.
FRANK BURNS - broke at the start losing ground. Hung inwards when improving three wide around the field passing the 1100 metres. Lay inwards throughout the home straight having to be corrected on several occasions.
PIXIE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
CRYSTAL DAYTOM - fractious prior to the start. Hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
MANZINI - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Paced roughly for a short distance near the 400 metres after becoming awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of WHITE DIAMOND GOLD.
Race 2   KAIKOURA BUILDING SERVICES ITM MOBILE TROT
TYENE - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Shifted outwards final bend to obtain clear running however was badly held up behind the tiring MADELEINE STOWE and broke in consequence near the 200 metres.
MADELEINE STOWE - raced wide early stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
SUNDONS FLYER - hampered by a breaking runner early stages of the run home.
SUNNIVUE PHILEAH - hung inwards and struck several track markers leaving the final bend.
Race 3   PENINSULAR BEACHFRONT RESORT MOBILE PACE
GET KRAKEN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Cox.
LIVE ON LEGEND - a shadow roll was added to the gear after shying at several shadows during the preliminary. Raced wide when leading near the 1500 metres to avoid a shadow on the track and again near the 300 metres.
SIR MONTY - broke after 200 metres losing all chance and retired from the event. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
HEAVEN ON HIGH - held up early stages of the run home.
PAMPELONNE - weakened from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn could only advise that his filly had been very disappointing when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Yesberg contacted Stewards subsequent to the race and advised that blood tests taken from the filly revealed muscle tie-up and it will be treated accordingly.
AMARLA - weakened final bend.
Race 4   RD PETROLEUM TROT
The start was delayed due to ZSAHARA charging the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver K Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
The start was further delayed due to BOSS KENNY rearing and contacting the barrier strand. As a result the field was turned away and asked to re-address the tape. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
GOOSE HEALY - broke shortly after the start. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts. Broke again near the 2100 metres losing ground. Trotted roughly and lost ground from the 700 metres.
ISLA ELSIE - reared prior to the start with the mare getting the sulky shaft over its back and had to be repositioned by its driver. Stewards elected not to issue any penalty against the mare due to the delay to the start. Broke at the start losing all chance. The mare was placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer R Todd.
BOSS KENNY - broke at the start losing all chance.
CLICQUOT - raced wide early stages. Broke near the 1900 metres losing all chance and was retired from the event.
TEDESCO - raced wide early stages.
BOURBON ON THE ROCKS - began awkwardly.
HE'S A CASSANOVA - trotted roughly in the early stages.
ALMIGHTY FEAR - weakened passing the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the gelding's efforts driver G Smith was only able to advise that he was very disappointed and it was his intention to send the horse for a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
KD HAWK - trotted roughly in the run home.
SPOT THE GAMBLE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 5   DUNLEA PRODUCTS PACE
FRANCO NORTON - trainer S McRae was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners which were not notified. Broke at the start losing ground. Held up final bend.
WITH GRACE - broke at the start losing ground.
GYPSY - broke at the start.
EL DORADO - stood on the mark losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Weakened final bend. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of co-trainer G Dunn.
PIALLIGO - broke shortly after the start. Over-raced middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 1100 metres. Hung outwards final bend and ran wide despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ASIAN ELVIS - hampered by breaking runners at the start and got back as a result. Held up final bend.
TAS GIRL BROMAC - weakened from the 600 metres.
STAMP DUTY(AUS) - broke briefly at the start. A final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Weakened final bend
WILLOW BAY - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver N Rasmussen explained that the horse was very disappointing and it would be the stable's intention to increase the horse's workload in the coming week and she would be recommending gear changes be made prior to the gelding resuming.
Trainer J Harrington advised Stewards that TAS GIRL BROMAC has had a fetlock and a coffin injected since last racing.
Race 6   LOBSTER INN TAVERN JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - over-raced middle stages. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.
THE TERRORFIER - broke briefly in the early stages of the score up. Held up final bend.
GLENTHORNE - late scratching on veterinary advice at 8.00am. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
GLASSY WEBB - hung inwards final bend losing ground.
NOT REALLY BLONDE - weakened from the 600 metres.
FRANCO HOFFMAN - hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres.
A TASTE OF HONEY - raced wide early stages.
MOSSMAN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres.
SHARDS FURY - hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres.
UNCLE CHAN - broke and stumbled after 150 metres hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
LULU LE MANS - hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres. Raced wide without cover from the 600 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Bamford advised the mare had been forced wide by inside runners rounding the final bend and had been unable to make ground due to the strong closing sectionals of the race.
LITTLE MISS PERFECT - hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres. Driver K Newman was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
Race 7   KAIKOURA NIGHT N DAY MOBILE PACE
FRANCO STEFAN - held up final bend.
SPORTY CELINE - paced roughly after 150 metres and had to be steadied.
MIGHTY REACTOR - lay inwards in the run home.
ROMEO SHARD - raced wide early stages.
STEPHS BOY - gave ground leaving the final bend.
LANCEWOOD LOUIE - the chin rest on the gelding came adrift during the early stages and hung loose. Hung inwards final bend losing ground.
TASMAN TEMPEST - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
JOURNO - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
Trainer J Harrington advised Stewards that ZIA BROMAC has had a knee and a coffin injected since last racing.
Race 8   VIC & IRENE SMITH DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP TROT
BLINK N BONES - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground.
PRINCE TEKA - held up final bend.
MIKEMARO - tangled away. Held up final bend. Driver J Curtin was issued with a warning for driving the final stages of the race with his foot removed from the sulky foot rest.
MARTHA STUART - tangled away.
ALI LINDENNY - broke briefly at the start.
HAROLD SMITH - broke briefly at the start. Raced four wide from the 600 metres.
MAUI - begin awkwardly and shifted ground. Raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
POSTGRAD SUCCESS - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke after 100 metres and again approaching the first bend losing all chance.

Race 10   THE PIER HOTEL KAIKOURA MOBILE PACE
SAMHARA - when spoken to regarding the performance driver N Rasmussen advised the colt was unable to make ground due to the strong tempo of the race and considering it was the horse's first start back from a spell she was not disappointed with the effort and felt the colt would derive considerable benefit from the race.
CORRAVALLY STAR - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
SUPERBASS - raced wide early stages.
Race 11   MAJESTIC SON SOUTH BAY TROTTERS CUP (HCP TROT)
There was a slight delay to the start due to the majority of runners approaching the tapes quicker than Starter R Donnelly requested with MUSCLE MOUNTAIN then becoming fractious and turning inwards causing a further delay.
MIDNIGHT DASH - hung inwards final bend striking track markers.
CHIEF OF STAFF - trotted roughly leaving the final bend and throughout the run home.
Race 12   P I & G J KENNARD BLOODSTOCK MOBILE PACE
HILARIOUS PRINCE - weakened final bend.
TAXMAN - weakened final bend. Paced roughly near the 200 metres after making contact with the sulky wheel of KATHERINE. Driver S Ottley was issued with a warning regarding this incident and advised it was expected in future that she demonstrate a higher level of care.
KATHERINE - raced wide early stages. Over-raced near the 1300 metres when being restrained to obtain cover. Weakened final bend.
CLOUDY BAY - raced wide early stages.
SLIP THE HUNDY - out of position at the start. Held up final bend.
REPUBLICAN PARTY - out of position at the start.

LAVER -broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
KANGO - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
SOUTH COAST ARDEN - reared on several occasions prior to the start. Over-raced passing the 1300 metres.
Race 14   NZ YEARLING SALES SERIES AGED CLASSIC HCP PACE
A false start was declared due to the barrier strand failing to clear front line runners.
I'M TOUGH - broke at the start losing ground.
LOYALIST - held up behind a weakening runner final bend.
BETTOR BELIEVE IT - weakened final bend.
ABOVE N BEYOND - raced wide early stages.
GOT YOU COVERED - raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
KIWI X FACTOR - driver G Smith admitted a charge under Rule 857(7)(a) when he allowed his gelding to approach the barrier quicker than the other runners which caused a delay to the start. After viewing the films and hearing evidence the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
DASHING MAJOR - raced wide early stages. Held up leaving the final bend and again late in the run home.
ROUGH AND READY - driver J Curtin reported that he dropped his whip when activating gear near the 300 metres.
FRANCO NIVEN - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages. Driver R May advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 15   PERFECT PACKAGING LTD HANDICAP TROT
SODS LAW - broke at the start losing all chance.
ESCARGO -broke briefly shortly after the start. Weakened final bend.
COCHY MALC - held up early stages of the run home.
MILLIONDOLLARMONKEY - weakened final bend.
SIOUX PRINCESS - weakened leaving the final bend.
TIME IN A BOTTLE - removed from the race by driver J Morrison near the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that this runner had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to completing one satisfactory trial.
SPRINGBANK MASON - trainer P Williamson was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding to race with sliding blinds that had not been notified. Broke after 150 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
WOODSTONE - trotted roughly on the final bend and weakened thereafter.
Race 16   ROAD METALS/KIWI CONCRETE MOBILE PACE
GET UP N DANCE - paced roughly in the run home. Driver N Williamson advised that his gelding had hung and paced roughly throughout and as a result he did not release the deafeners.
JIMMY ARMA - raced wide early stages.
RIVEERED - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
YOROKOBI - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages. Driver R Close advised that he did not activate the gelding's sliding blinds.
EASTWOOD ISABELLA - when questioned regarding the mare's improved performance, trainer R Todd advised that the mare had taken benefit from a recent freshen up and had performed well at a trial meeting in preparation.
