Race 1   BUTELINE NZ LTD TROT
TINTED STUART - paced for a short distance at the start. Checked and broke after 200 metres losing all chance.
CLOVER JEWEL - shifted inwards racing into the first bend when insufficiently clear of TINTED STUART checking that runner which broke in consequence. Driver B Norman was issued a charge and admitted he drove carelessly at this stage of the race. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Judicial Committee imposed a suspension of Mr Norman's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 5 June (3 days). Trotted roughly in the early stages of the run home before breaking passing the 100 metres.
MILLIE'S GIFT - trotted roughly shortly after the start.
DENN NEE'S SISTER - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
EILISH HALL - weakened rounding the final bend.
JASMINE JACCKA - slow to begin. Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
TAHIR TROUBLE - broke in the early stages losing ground. Again broke passing the 1800 metres losing all chance.
ANDIAMO - Driver K Larsen reported the mare had trotted roughly over the concluding stages and he was unable to fully drive her out in consequence.
Race 2   PLUMBING WORLD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
RAKAREPLAY - over-raced in the middle stages.
TOM WASN'T - over-raced in the score-up. Weakened rounding the final bend and lay inwards striking track markers.
PARADISE VALLEY - held up final bend. Driver A Milne admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and Whip & Rein Regs when using his whip free of the rein in the run home. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Judicial Committee imposed a fine of $200.
TASHS BAD GIRL - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up final bend.
SISTA SAMMY - Driver A Beck was spoken to advisedly regarding using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion over the concluding stages.
VERA SPECIAL - weakened from the 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
Race 3   RHEEM / PETER COCKS FOR DAIRY CYLINDERS MOBILE PACE
THE OTHER BROTHER - paced roughly after improving to the lead near the 1200 metres and had to be steadied which resulted in a slight easing of the pace.
ALITTLEBITGOOD - held up rounding the final bend.
GET UP N DANCE - when spoken to regarding the performance Trainer/Driver N Williamson advised the gelding had made abnormal breathing noises during the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Mr Williamson added that he would have his Veterinarian further examined the gelding in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of the results. Connections were advised the horse was stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to racing next.
MAXWELL ROBYN - briefly hampered near the 1200 metres when there was a slight easing of the pace. Weakened rounding the final bend. Lay inwards throughout the run home.
PADDY FINN - raced wide in the early stages.
ONEDIN HURRICANE - lay inwards throughout the run home with Driver E Barron advising she would be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding racing next.
Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 21 May that GET UP N DANCE has been sent for a freshen up and will return to trials prior to resuming.
Race 4   MASTERLINK JUNIOR DRIVERS TROT
CABELLA NOIR - broke at the start losing all chance.
INSIST THE WIN - broke at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 250 metres.
MAKE MY DAY - broke near the 1500 metres and again on several occasions losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - over-raced rounding the final bend and lay inwards striking a track marker.
PALISADE - broke at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages. Broke passing the 250 metres hampering a trailing runner.
MR OLYMPUS - slow to begin. Driver T Nally reported the gelding had trotted roughly on various occasions.
PRINCE ENVY - pre-race warmed. Broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
T BONE RAWHIDE - broke at the start losing all chance. Trainer N Williamson reported the gelding will now be sent for a spell.
RUBY SEDDON - trotted roughly over the concluding stages with Driver O Kite reporting that due to this he did not release the removable deafeners.
Race 5   WATERWARE 'HOT TO TROT' MOBILE PACE
FRANCO JUNE - broke in the score-up losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
ZACH LOWE - weakened from the 700 metres hampering trailing runners. When spoken to regarding the performance Trainer/Driver K Larsen could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left front leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to racing next.
SAINT TROPEZ - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver A Beck. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAN I'M GOOD - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver A Kyle. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a tiring runner final bend. Mr Kyle reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
BELLE'S BOY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver E Swain. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a tiring runner final bend.
Race 6   AQUATHERM NEW ZEALAND D-DOG SPECIAL/S.S.B.A. MOBILE PACE
SHARDS IN MANHATTAN - weakened rounding the final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the filly with connections in the coming days.
BOUDICA - lay inwards throughout the run home.
DACHY - raced wide in the early stages.
DEBUTANTE PARTY - raced wide in the early stages.
TULSA JACCKA - over-raced in the score-up and through the early stages when racing wide.
DRESS CODE - held up for clear racing room throughout the final straight. Stewards questioned Driver J Morrison regarding the tactics he adopted leaving the final bend when electing to shift outwards as opposed to waiting for the Passing Lane. Mr Morrison advised he had been following SHARDS IN MANHATTAN however that runner commenced to weaken so he elected to shift out and follow DEBUTANTE PARTY which in his opinion was travelling better at that time. Mr Morrison further added his mare had come to the end of its run in the middle stages of the run home. Stewards took the matter no further.
Co-Trainer C Dalgety advised Stewards on 19 May that SHARDS IN MANHATTAN has recovered well following its performance at Winton last week with Mr Dalgety adding that the filly may be better suited when driven with cover.
Race 7   RWC RELIANCE WORLDWIDE MOBILE PACE
WRECKING BALL - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
MAAHES - over-raced in the early and middle stages.
TOMMY WATERHOUSE - shifted up the track when racing greenly early in the run home.
PORT AU PRINCE - raced wide in the early stages.
CELEBRATING - cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 8   PARAMOUNT MOTEL MOBILE PACE
YANKEE SHARD - paced roughly in the early stages.
CHUCKLES - lay inwards over the concluding stages and raced inside track markers despite the efforts of Driver C Ferguson. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage.
Following the running of this race the official track conditions were upgraded to Good.
Race 9   MURRAY GRAY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
STEVE - the mare's offside spreader broke on pulling up after the finish of the race. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
ZONED SCARLETT - weakened rounding the final bend.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
KIWITRIX - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home when laying inwards. Authorisation of 5th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking racing into the first bend.
KING OF THE NORTH - tangled away. Broke after 100 metres losing ground.
SPRINGBANK MASON - cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
SUNDONS WISH - tangled away. Weakened rounding the final bend.
Race 10   MICO PLUMBING & BATHROOMS MOBILE PACE
CAST A SHADOW - Driver B Barclay reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
MELTON MAFIA - Driver G Lee reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the connecting clip becoming entangled.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - lay inwards leaving the final bend.
HAZER - over-raced in the middle stages. Briefly held up rounding the final bend. Weakened over the concluding stages.
ZACCY MAC - weakened rounding the final bend.
