Mr Butcher stated that B D JOE was racing older horses in tonight's event in what was the gelding's first race for five weeks and although having trialled well in the interim he did not think that he would be able to win racing outside the leader DANCE TIME as B D JOE had trailed that runner three starts back and couldn't come off his back and beat him home. Mr Butcher further added that he had been able to shift out off the markers on the final turn to secure clear running but had been unable to make up the necessary ground. After considering Mr Butcher's explanation Stewards took the matter no further.

CLASSY OPERATOR - raced three wide early stages before being taken forward to lead passing the 1400 metres . Driver D Ferguson was charged under Rule 869 (3)(f) in that he drove improperly rounding the final turn by allowing his colt to shift outwards which presented an inside run to the trailing MEETMEINSORRENTO (Z Butcher) or in the alternative that he drove carelessly in this incident with the same particulars. The matter was adjourned sine die. When questioned Mr Ferguson stated that the colt was lethargic throughout and that he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, while undertaking to contact Stewards in the coming days should anything surface that would explain the run.
