Trainer T Bagrie advised Stewards on 5 May that EXCUSE MY FRENCH underwent an endoscopic examination earlier this week which revealed no abnormalities. Mr Bagrie added that the gelding will race with an anti choke device when resuming. |

Trainer D Reardon advised Stewards on 6 May that ALENE has recovered well following its performance at Ashburton last week. Mr Reardon added that the mare resented the grit on her face in that event and she will return to the trials prior to resuming with a nose flap being added to her gear. |

WATCH ME NOW - when spoken to regarding the performance driver B Orange could only advise he was disappointed with the mare's effort. Trainer S Dolan was unable to provide any explanation and was also very disappointed with the effort. Mr Dolan further advised it was his intention to have the horse undergo a dynamic scope in the coming days and Stewards will follow up with the results. | |
PLUTONIUM LADY - when questioned regarding the run of her mare and the tactics she adopted in the early stages, driver S Ottley explained that she had hoped to take up a more forward position but as the start approached she had noted both FABRIZIO and WATCH ME NOW were intent on going forward so she elected to restrain for a covered run. Miss Ottley added that she had been disappointed with the mare's effort despite having to race wide from the 500 metres. | |

Stewards questioned driver T Bamford (assisted by J Cox) as to the reasons why when leading through the middle stages he elected to take up a position a significant distance away from the pylons. Mr Bamford advised that until seeing the films he had not been aware of how exaggerated his position was and undertook to be more mindful in future. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer R Todd advised he was disappointed with the effort and it was his intention to have blood tests taken. Stewards will follow up with the results. | |
