Race 1   MID WINTER CHRISTMAS TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE TROT
There was a three minute delay to the start of the event due to LOLLIEPROP requiring a shoe to be refitted.
THANK YOU - hampered by KEYSTONE CAVALIER near the 1100m. Held up early stages of the run home and obtained clear running passing the 100m.
KEYSTONE CAVALIER - lay in despite the efforts of Driver Z Butcher and contacted the sulky wheel of CEPHEUS at the 1100m breaking and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MUFASA METRO - broke at the start and settled at the rear of the field. Raced wide early until reaching the lead near the 1300m.
CEPHEUS - broke at the 1100m after being contacted by KEYSTONE CAVALIER and was retired from the event due to a sulky tyre being punctured.
ALANA - broke at the 450m losing all chance.
GRIFFINS HALL - improved three wide at the 1100m until reaching the parked position at the 700m.
THE LAST GAMBLE - raced wide early and middle stages.
TRAMPS LIKE US - broke in the score up losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
JASINOVA - raced wide early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear passing the 1200m.
LOLLIEPROP - raced wide early and middle stages before reaching the parked position at the 1500m. Weakened final bend. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of colic and was transported to a local veterinary clinic for treatment. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
Race 2   IRT HARNESS JEWELS TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE
MAYA ANGELOU - lay in and contacted marker pegs when weakening near the 400m. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Mitchell reported that he was disappointed with the mare's effort and could offer no tangible explanation. Trainer R Dickson advised that the mare would be sent for a spell.
COMEDY ACT - held up by a weakening runner near the 500m. Paced roughly final stages.
BOILOVER - weakened passing the 500m.
SILVER LADY - briefly inconvenienced near the 900m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line.
CRIMSON RAIN - inconvenienced when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 900m.
LITTLE SUZIE - raced wide until reaching the parked position at the 1100m. Weakened passing the 500m. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver B Butcher reported the filly had worked hard on a strong tempo when improving wide on the track with the effort taking its toll.
NEEDAMARGARITA - held up passing the 500m and again rounding the final bend.
DRAMATIST - worked hard in the early stages and raced in the parked position until near the 1100m. Over-raced middle stages and weakened passing the 700m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
IT'S A LAUGH - briefly hampered at the 400m.
Race 3   GREGORY EQUINE COVERS & SADDLERY MOBILE TROT
MAJESTIC HARRY - held up early and middle stages of the home straight.
THE HULK - Junior Driver K Bublitz was shown the video footage in the presence of Senior Driver D Butcher and was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
Race 4   MITRE 10 CAMBRIDGE MOBILE PACE
BIG SKEWY - slow to begin and shifted away from the marker line shortly after. Broke near the 1900m losing ground.
CARSE O FERN CULLY - gave ground passing the 300m.
TUXEDO BROMAC - held up early stages of the run home.
WET FLIPFLOPS - paced roughly for a few strides when being eased racing into the first bend.
NORVIC ROCKSTAR - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
Race 5   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS MOBILE PACE
ROUGH AND READY - raced keenly middle stages. Held up final stages.
HAWTHORNDEN HUNK - shifted out under pressure in the run home.
PULL THE OTHER LEG - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight. Junior Driver L Whittaker advised that as a result he did not activate the removeable deafeners. When questioned regarding the manner in which he drove leaving the back straight the final time Mr Whittaker, assisted by Trainer M Berger, advised that he elected to follow JACK TAR as that runner was one of the favoured runners in the event as he was of the view that gelding would take him into the race after AMERICAN ME had failed to progress in the three wide line. Mr Whittaker further stated that he did not give consideration to improving wide around AMERICAN ME as he would have to cover more ground in the running. Mr Berger advised that the gelding performs best when driven with a sit and added that it was his intention to continue for the gelding to be driven in this manner in its future racing.
J BEE - raced keenly middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
AMERICAN ME - improved three wide from the 700m.
Race 6   CAMBRIDGE HOMES MOBILE PACE
MADAME CONNOISTRE - gave ground passing the 400m.
JACCKA COOPER - the inside number on this horse broke and was removed prior to the start. Raced wide early and middle stages then paced roughly before improving to the lead passing the 1300m.
EASY DOES IT - gave ground passing the 400m.
CARSE O FERN TOM - hampered by HOORAY HENRY over the concluding stages.
HOORAY HENRY - lay in rounding the final bend. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver Z Butcher was questioned in regard to the manner in which he shifted ground over the concluding stages. Mr Butcher advised that his horse had lay in rounding the final bend and skied its head causing it to shift in abruptly when racing behind CARSE O FERN TOM. Held up for clear racing room until passing the 50m when the gelding shifted out sharply and inconvenienced CARSE O FERN TOM and CLOUDY BAY. Notwithstanding the racing manners of HOORAY HENRY Driver Z Butcher was issued with a warning for the manner in which he shifted ground over the concluding stages.
CLOUDY BAY - hampered by HOORAY HENRY over the concluding stages.
BODRUM BOY - held up by a weakening runner passing the 300m.
Race 7   GAVELHOUSE.COM MOBILE PACE
THE BLUE BEAT - when questioned regarding the manner in which she shifted up the track passing the 500m Junior Driver K Blakemore advised that the mare had locked on one rein and lay in causing her difficulty until entering the home straight. After considering her explanation Stewards took the matter no further.
HAPPY PLACE - lay in rounding the bends.
ROCKNROLL MAMA - raced keenly middle stages. Junior Driver L Whittaker had some difficulty activating the removeable deafeners rounding the bend and in the early stages of the run home.
Race 8   ON SITE NZMCA PARKING @ CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE TROT
CHICAGO H - out of position at dispatch. Hung outwards and shifted up the track in the early stages of the run home.
JUST PLAIN LUCKY - broke in the score up but was in position at dispatch. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
SLY PUNTER - broke at the 1500m losing ground and then paced shortly after before regaining its proper gait and trailed the field.
