Race 3 - AVON CITY FORD HANDICAP PACE
Trainer G Smith advised Stewards on 7 April that BETTOR CALL ME was subjected to vet assessments which revealed no abnormalities with Mr Smith adding that the colt has worked well in preparation for its engagement tonight.
Race 10 - FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE PACE
Stable representative J Dunn advised Stewards on 7 April that PASSION AND POWER has recovered well following its run at Addington on Saturday and will continue with its preparation at Methven this weekend.

Race 1   SPECTATORS $15 DAILY DEALS TROT
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY - fractious prior the the start and reared on several occasions causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. When spoken to regarding the filly's performance trainer/driver T Herlihy was unable to provide any explanation other than to advise he was disappointed with her effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will speak with connections in the coming days.
BRIGHT GLOW - broke at the start losing all chance.
SALVO - through traffic issues driver G Smith was delayed in attending tonight's meeting and so was replaced by T Williams. Over-raced in the middle stages.
REGAL ATTIRE - raced wide early stages.
KD HAWK - trotted roughly and broke near the 450 metres.
MISS CRAZED - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Weakened from the 500 metres.
SAMANTHAS MOON - over-raced through the middle stages.
Trainer T Herlihy advised Stewards on 14 April that following the filly's disappointing performance last week BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY has been sent for a spell.
Race 2   XCM SPORT MOBILE PACE
CHEAPCHEAP - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
DREAMINSOVER - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1150 metres.
ANGEL OF MONTANA - raced wide early stages. Driver K Cox was warned for causing an easing of the pace after improving to the parked position near the 1950 metres.
JIMMY ARMA - raced wide early stages. Driver J Dunn reported he did not activate the hopple shorteners after the gelding's gait had improved significantly on the last two weeks leaving him to decide not to remove them.
LIFES A BEACH - raced keenly middle stages.
BETTASTAR - broke as the start was effected losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Held up final bend having to shift ground inwards to obtain clear running near the 250 metres.
SMOOTH DEBATE - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1150 metres.
FIVE STAR GENERAL - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1150 metres. Broke near the 900 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
FIRE FOX - over-raced rounding the first bend causing driver R May some difficulty. Broke briefly near the 1950 metres after an easing of the pace.
SPORTSCAM - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was out of position at the start. Stood down to complete one satisfactory mobile trial.
Race 3   FAHEY FENCE HIRE PACE
BETTOR CALL ME - under pressure passing the 400 metres and weakened thereafter. When spoken to regarding the colt's performance trainer/driver G Smith reported the horse had again proved disappointing after being a recent acquisition to the stable. He said that after last week's poor performance he had the horse scoped and blood tests taken which showed no irregularity with him adding the colt had worked very well leading into tonight's race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
TAS GIRL BROMAC - broke at the start. Over-raced through the early and middle stages. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight. When spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer/driver J Harrington advised the mare had responded well to the substitution of blinds with sliding blinds and a change of bit after she had failed to finish off her races recently. Driver J Harrington was issued with a warning for the manner in which he shifted ground outwards near the 550 metres causing an inconvenience to KINGSDOWN ATOM and HE'S TOUGH.
SAINT WAITAKI - broke at the start.
KINGSDOWN ATOM - hampered near the 550 metres when TAS GIRL BROMAC shifted outwards.
LOYALIST - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
ADMIRABLE - broke at the start.
ARTATAC - over-raced middle stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver S Ottley reported that she did not activate the removable deafeners.
HE'S TOUGH - paced roughly near the 550 metres when being forced wider on the track by an inside runner. Hung inwards throughout the run home. Driver M Williamson reported the gelding to have hung throughout.
BOLZANO - broke shortly after the start. Again broke passing to 2100 metres.
Race 4   BRECKON FARMS MOBILE PACE
BRAEVIEW KELLY - over-raced in the score up and broke after making contact with the barrier arm. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
INVALUABLE - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
ROCKNROLL ROD - weakened final bend. J Cox reported that he did not release the horses deafeners.
ITALIAN LAD - broke briefly in the early stages of the score up.
CRUZEE MACH - over-raced middle stages when leading.
Race 5   GRAPHITE DEVELOPMENTS LTD TROT
WILLANGUS LAD - weakened from the 500 metres. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance driver M Hurrell reported that despite having to work in the middle stages to take up the lead he had been disappointed with its efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BEYOND THE HORIZON - broke at the start losing ground.
SALLY LINDENNY - broke near the 2100 metres losing ground.
GIRLS LET LOOSE - broke near the 300 metres.
PRINCE RANIER - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
GALLEONS FUTURE - checked by a breaking runner near the 900 metres and trotted roughly for several strides.
MAJESTIC CHICK - broke at the start losing ground.
MONRIKA - broke for a short distance near the 900 metres when attempting to follow MIKEMARO wider on the track and take up the one one position which was held by SIOUX PRINCESS (S Ottley). Stewards questioned drivers S McNally (MONRIKA) and S Ottley regarding the incident where S McNally explained that when MIKEMARO shifted outwards to race parked at the 950 metres, he attempted to follow that runner and ease SIOUX PRINCESS wider however his mare then shifted back inwards and became awkwardly positioned behind MIKEMARO consequently losing any advantage over SIOUX PRINCESS who was able to retain her position. After viewing the films Stewards accepted his explanation and placed a warning on the mare's racing record. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.
Trainer R Wilson advised Stewards on 13 April that WILLANGUS LAD was suffering from dehydration following its performance at Addington on 9 April and will have a brief freshen up prior to resuming.
Race 6   FRED SHAW MEMORIAL NZ TROTTING CHAMPIONSHIP (MOB TROT)
SPLASH COLA - was restrained near the 2100 metres to take up a position against the pylons but when doing so switched to a pace then broke soon after losing considerable ground.
VACATION HILL - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Hampered near the 2000 metres. Hampered again near the 700 metres and had to be steadied.
OSCAR BONAVENA - was shifted wider at the 700 metres when MUSCLE MOUNTAIN moved outwards but when being restrained to find cover had its wheel contacted by the trailing ONE APOLLO (R May) which broke. Stewards questioned drivers M Purdon (OSCAR BONAVENA) and R May regarding this with Mr May reporting his gelding to have over-raced leading up to this incident and proved difficult to restrain so when there was a slight easing of the pace his runner had not been able to accept it and consequently galloped. Notwithstanding the evidence of Mr May, Stewards cautioned Mr Purdon for the manner in which he drove which caused an easing of the pace for trailing runners.
ONE APOLLO - over-raced and broke near the 700 metres after an easing of the pace resulting in the gelding making contact with the sulky wheel of OSCAR BONAVENA losing its chance.
Race 7   AVON CITY FORD NEW ZEALAND WELCOME STAKES (MOB PACE)
TIDE AND TIME - over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   LIVAMOL NEW ZEALAND TROTTING DERBY (MOBILE TROT)
LOVE N THE PORT - weakened near the 700 metres before breaking hampering a trailing runner. Driver M Williamson reported the gelding had trotted roughly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer P Williamson in the coming days.
WANNA PLAY WITH ME - hung inwards final bend and struck several track markers. Held up leaving the final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home.
ROYAL PRIDE - hung throughout causing driver M Jones some difficulty. Weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
EUROKASH - trotted roughly passing the 700 metres. Gave ground over the final stages. An inquiry was adjourned into the driving of B Hope near the 1600 metres when shifting outwards and causing SON OF PATRICK to race wider.
LEAF STRIDE - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700 metres. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
OUTAMYWAY - hung outwards in the early and middle stages.
FRANCO JORIK - raced wide from the 700 metres.
TIME UP THE HILL - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700 metres losing its position.
Junior driver B Hope (who declined the assistance of a senior driver) admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule when driving EUROKASH in that he shifted outwards approaching the 1600 metres forcing SON OF PATRICK wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $500.
Trainer F Fletcher advised Stewards on 11 April that ROYAL PRIDE has recovered well since racing at Addington last week adding the colt has worked well right-handed this week in preparation for a resumption at Alexandra Park next Friday.
Race 9   DIAMOND CREEK FARM NEW ZEALAND PACING DERBY (MOB PACE)
IT'S ALL ABOUT FAITH - over-raced middle stages.
SHAN NOBLE - raced wide early stages. Driver N Rasmussen was cautioned for jostling on the first bend when over some distance she attempted to ease RAGAZZO MACH inwards despite not being in possession of a clear advantage.
ARDEN'S ACE - broke after 100 metres losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
AMERICAN DEALER - raced wide without cover from the 1300 metres.
PACE N PRIDE - raced wide from the 1300 metres.
RAGAZZO MACH - raced four wide near the 1300 metres. Stewards questioned drivers N Williamson (RAGAZZO MACH) and T Williams (PACE N PRIDE) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing their explanations it was established that RAGAZZO MACH had raced greenly when being steadied to obtain cover and had shifted to a four wide position despite the efforts of Mr Williamson resulting in PACE N PRIDE being able to improve into a vacant three wide position. Raced three wide from the 1200 metres.
YOROKOBI - held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight.
Race 10   SILVERMOON LADIES NIGHT - 21 MAY - HANDICAP TROT
OVERZEALOUS - held up throughout the final straight. Driver P Davis reported he had not activated the removable deafeners.
KIWITRIX - pre-race warmed. Held up early stages of the run home. Driver M Williamson reported he had not activated the removable deafeners.
PHOEBE ONYX - held up early stages of the run home.
NAVARA - broke near the 100 metres. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial.
MISSALYSSA - raced wide early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages when racing parked. Weakened leaving the final bend.
GOLD CHAIN - broke after 150 metres. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
ONE MAJIC KENNY - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a standing start.
AMERICAN PRIDE - raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
Race 11   IRT. SUPERSTARS 4YO & 5YO PACERS CHAMPIONSHIP (MOB PACE)
MATT DAMON - over-raced middle stages.
Race 12   FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE PACE
SURFERS DELIGHT - driver J Dunn will be spoken to advisedly for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the home straight.
PERFECT CUT - weakened from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Young-Grant advised she was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation other than to suggest the gelding may not have backed up from its last start on Monday. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B Negus advised that the gelding would be sent for a spell.
DONT LIE TO ME - raced wide early stages.
TAXMAN - paced roughly at the start before breaking shortly after. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Weakened final bend.
GEORGIAS BARON - out of position at the start. Driver M Hurrell was issued with a warning. Paced roughly on several occasions through the middle stages.
SILK - over-raced middle stages.
ANNIE RICHTER - over-raced middle stages. Held up by a weakening runner final bend and hung inwards near the 300 metres striking several track markers.
Driver J Dunn (SURFERS DELIGHT) was spoken to advisedly for using his whip free of the rein in the early stages of the run home.
