Race 1   AUTUMN TROTTING CARNIVAL FRI 23 & 30 APRIL AT ALEX PARK TROT
TRUE BELIEVER - the pulley on the half hopples broke during the running resulting in this runner being placed at some disadvantage. The gear was inspected and found to be in good order with no further action deemed necessary.
CONSTELLATION - lay in final turn contacting several marker pegs. Driver J Stormont was spoken to advisedly for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion near the 150 metres.
TRIFOLIUM - stepped over the final marker peg situated adjacent to the winning post but maintained its gait.
WILLIS GRAHAM - broke shortly after the start and trailed the field.
SONSOFTHEMERCH - broke near the 1250 metres and settled at the rear. Lay in and contacted marker pegs near the 800 metres. Lay in approaching the 400 metres and broke losing its chance.
ERROL D - slow to begin and then broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
CRUISE CONTROL - broke approaching the 1900 metres and lost its chance.
ALDEBARAN FLAME - raced wide early. Broke passing the 1800 metres but soon settled.
Race 2   WOODLANDS STUD F & M MOBILE PACE
SWEET CHARIOT - contacted several marker pegs entering the first turn when being eased to take a trail. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home. Driver L Whittaker reported that he had been unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the release cord becoming entangled.
SETTLE PETAL - worked forward to lead near the 1300 metres before taking a trail approaching the 1000 metres. Commenced to weaken on the final turn to finish in 8th place beaten 10.4 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Cameron stated that the filly had been required to work too hard during the middle stages and this had taken its toll. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
SARANDON - broke briefly at the start settling towards the rear. A warning was placed the mare's barrier record. Over-raced early and middle stages when being restrained after having been caught three wide.
WE HAVE A MACH TWO - had to be steadied off the back of DOWN THE HATCH passing the 1200 metres after that runner lay in briefly.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR - Trainer R Green was cautioned for not having the correct colours available. Had difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
KERRI MAGUIRE - Connections advised Stewards that the mare had cast the near fore shoe in run home.
DOWN THE HATCH - lay in briefly passing the 1200 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner. Driver B Mangos was spoken to in relation to using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion on several occasions late in the run home.
Race 3   POWELL TRANSPORT HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed by approx 3 minutes after WHO'S QUEEN and SAFRAKOVA bounded forward through the front tape. Warnings were placed on both mares' barrier manners.
LIAISON - slow to begin settling towards the rear.
DRUM N BASS - broke shortly after the start and trailed the field.
WHO'S QUEEN - broke shortly after the start and galloped a considerable distance before settling. Broke passing the 200 metres losing all chance.
SUPERFAST NINJA - trotted roughly near the 1600 metres. Raced keenly middle stages when outside the leader.
SAFRAKOVA - lay in rounding the turns and in particular the final turn when contacting maker pegs.
SAINT MICHEL - broke briefly near the 250 metres.
GAZ MAN - broke near the 1850 metres and settled at the rear.
THE BIG BIRD - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling.
CALL ME TROUBLE - raced wide early.
PHOEBE IMPERIAL - raced wide early.
ANDITOVER - broke at the start losing ground before settling.
Race 4   DAWSON HARFORD LTD MOBILE PACE
MISTER SLICK - commenced to weaken near the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Connections advised that the gelding would be retired.
MIMI E COCO - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1400 metres. Shifted out marginally on straightening for the run home.
HAPPY PLACE - over-raced middle stages.
Race 5   SIMS PACIFIC METALS - MONEY FOR METALS MOB PACE
SOUTH COAST ARDEN - Driver B Mangos dropped his right foot from the sulky rest when activating the hopple shorteners entering the first turn. Restrained to take up a position three back from the markers racing down the back the first time after unsuccessfully contesting for the lead.
DANCE TIME - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie stated that the gelding hadn't been suited to racing without cover.
Race 6   SCHWEPPES MOBILE PACE
COMMANDER CATHY - Driver Z Butcher is to be spoken to in relation to using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion on several occasions late in the run home.
AZTEC SHARD - back marginally at dispatch. Driver B Mangos encountered difficulty activating the hopple shorteners rounding the first turn and entering the front straight.
HAIL LUCIUS - paced roughly rounding the final turn losing ground.
Race 7   BELL SCAFFOLDING HANDICAP TROT
TEMPORALE - raced three back on the outer from inside the 1000 metres before commencing to improve three then four wide passing the 400 metres and finished on into 3rd place beaten 3.8 lengths. When questioned Driver T Cameron advised that he was pleased with the performance after the race had not been run to suit and that the gelding had had difficulty making up ground in the run home due to the last 400 metres being run in 26.8 seconds.
