Race 4 - ZILCO PRODUCTS MOBILE PACE
Trainer R Swain advised Stewards on 31 March that CANNON OF GOLD showed signs of being in season following its disappointing performance last week but has recovered well since and will continue with her current preparation.
Trainer C Barron advised Stewards on 31 March that NOOSA BEACH has recovered and worked well in preparation for a resumption at Wyndham this week after over-racing and choking down at Invercargill last week.
Race 6 - MCKNIGHT & BROWN MOBILE PACE
Driver R McIlwrick (TULSA JACCKA) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 800 metres. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the Judicial Committee imposed a suspension of Mr McIlwrick's licence to drive from the 2nd April up to and including the 14th April (2 days)

Race 1   MLT / PIONEER TAVERN MOBILE PACE
FORTY WIVES - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend and unable to obtain clear racing room throughout the final straight.
BETYAHAVTIME - weakened from the 400 metres.
MAXIMILIAN - paced roughly when held up rounding the final bend.
PRIDES BELLISSIMA - weakened rounding the final bend. When asked to comment on the perceived disappointing performance Driver B Barclay could offer no tangible explanation. Trainer C Barron advised that the horse may be better suited when able to attain cover at some stage of its races. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the horse to have an elevated heart rate.
NOOSA BEACH - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained. Paced roughly leaving the final bend.
HUNTING WEIGHT - broke briefly racing into the first bend, losing ground.
Race 2   LES FRISBY CONTRACTING GOLD CHIP FINAL( HCP TROT)
WHANGAMATA - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JOHNS BOY - broke at the start.
PORT PEGASUS - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Again broke passing the 1300 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
CLOVER JEWEL - broke racing into the first bend. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination when observed to be uneven in its gait during the preliminary and was subsequently cleared to start. Trotted roughly near the 800 metres and lost the leaders back for a short distance. Held up rounding the final bend.
BIRCH - broke passing the 700 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
LAURIES LEGACY - broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next.
GALLEONS FUTURE - briefly held up passing the 600 metres.
DONT ASK - raced wide through the middle stages.
Race 3   ALABAR NZ MOBILE PACE
SWEET ANNIE - weakened from the 600 metres. When asked to comment on the perceived disappointing performance Driver O Kite could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the mares racing record.
ALEXY - paced roughly over the final stages and broke after crossing the line. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
BUCK - raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages and despite the efforts of Driver N Williamson was unable to shift inwards from a three-wide position. Weakened from the 1000 metres.
INDULGENCE - weakened rounding the final bend.
THE KINGSMAN - out of position at the start. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver R Swain was shown the films and advised he must to drive out fully to the line when circumstances permit. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding trainer/driver R Swain advised his runner had not backed up from its last race on the 20th of March and advised that where possible it would be his intention to better space the horses races.
KANSAS CITY JIM - lay inwards rounding the final bend. Weakened over the concluding stages.
HOLY HAVOC - broke briefly passing the 700 metres.
AIRWAVES - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAAHES - held up in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
Race 4   MARSHALLS GARAGE / FASTTRACK $2.5K ADDED BONUS MOBILE PACE
VINTAGE ROSE - paced roughly rounding the first bend. Shifted ground outwards passing the 1100 metres forcing VINTAGE ROSE wider on the track. Driver M Hill (assisted by C Barron) was questioned regarding this and issued with a warning.
WOLFENSTEIN - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide from the 1600 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend. Driver O Kite assisted by Mr K Larsen was spoken to regarding the tactics he adopted throughout the race. Mr Kite explained that before the race he had been given driving instructions from trainer Mr M Williamson, which were to lead if possible and that the gelding is better suited when racing in clear air. Mr Kite added that due to breaking he had lost considerable ground and when he had finally made contact with the field the horse had commenced to over-race. He was then caught without cover on the pace and when he had attempted to move forward the runner to his inside had kicked up to deny him that position. Mr Kite's comments were accepted and noted by the Stewards.
BELLE'S BOY - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position near the 1700 metres.
ALEXIS ROCKET - Driver J Simpson was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
VIN SCULLY - forced wider on the track near the 1100 metres when an inside runner shifted outwards.
LINCOLN MOMENT - held up leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
I'M WATCHING YOU - briefly hampered in the score-up and was slightly out of position at the start.
LYNRYD SKYNRYD - briefly hampered in the score-up and was slightly out of position at the start. Raced wide from the 1600 metres until reaching the lead near the 1000 metres.
Race 5   FRANKS' MOTORCYCLES / RODGERS GARAGE MOBILE PACE
COOL IDEA - over-raced in the score-up and continued to over-race until obtaining cover rounding the first bend.
DONALD TROT - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Hurrell. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
OHOKA AGENT - broke passing the 200 metres.
CHEZZ DALE - lay inwards racing into the first bend which in turn hampered trailing runners.
BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS - raced wide until being restrained to the rear of the field to obtain cover near the 1700 metres. Held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
COME TOGETHER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver T Williams. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Williams advised COME TOGETHER had raced greenly and would derive considerable benefit from the run.
MAGNETIC TERROR - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver B Barclay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Placed in tight quarters racing into the first bend making contact with the sulky of WHITE LIGHTNING and breaking briefly in consequence.
CELTIC ABBEY - broke leaving the final bend.
SISTA SAMMY - hampered racing into the first bend.
LOVE LOU LONGTIME - hampered racing into the first bend.
WHITE LIGHTNING - hampered racing into the first bend. Lay inwards leaving the final bend and throughout the home straight.
Race 6   MARSHALLS EXCAVATING HANDICAP TROT
SAGE TROUBLE - slow to begin. Lay outwards on various occasions during the running. Weakened rounding the final bend.
KING OF THE NORTH - broke shortly after the start.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - briefly hampered by tiring runner on final bend.
ZONED SCARLETT - hampered rounding the first bend by a breaking runner. Weakened rounding the final bend.
WAI KEY WEE - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
GET LUCKY - bounded at the start.
SMOKIN BANDAR - pre-race warmed.
SUNDONS WISH - weakened rounding the final bend.
ULTIMATE STRIDE - broke briefly passing the 1300 metres. Again broke passing the 1000 metres. Driver M Williamson reported the horse had trotted roughly throughout and he would be recommending gear changes prior to ULTIMATE STRIDE racing next. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 7   MACCA LODGE KINDERGARTEN STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
AKUTA - paced roughly on various occasions during the running.
RAKAJED - hung in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Continued to hang outwards and race greenly throughout.
Race 8   CARDRONA DISTILLERY 3YO STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
BETTASTAR - held up rounding the final bend.
LEITHEN BURN - broke early in the score-up however recovered to take up its allotted barrier position at the dispatch.
LEER - slightly hampered by inside runner prior to the start.
ALTA SENSATION - paced roughly racing round the first bend. When asked to comment on the performance Driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation.
AMERICAN LIGHTNING - briefly hampered rounding the first bend. When asked to comment on the performance Driver M Williamson advised he had been unable to make ground on a very fast tempo.
Race 9   MLT WYNDHAM CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
IVANA LEGACY - fractious behind the barrier and reared on several occasions.
MELTON MAFIA - began awkwardly shifting out and hampering MACH'S BACK. Held up leaving the final bend.
MACH'S BACK - briefly hampered by an inside runner at the start.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - over-raced through the middle stages when positioned to the outside of the leader.
CHUCKLES - weakened rounding the final bend.
DUKE OF DUNDEE - broke at the start. Checked near the 850 metres and lost ground.
SHILLELAGH - faltered and broke passing the 900 metres being immediately withdrawn from the race by Driver B Orange. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a suspected fracture to the near front cannon bone. The gelding was transported by Horse Ambulance to the home stable for further assessment.
AMERICAN MAC - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next. Broke for some distance near the 2600 metres when there was an easing of the pace resulting in the gelding losing some ground. Checked near the 850 metres and lost ground.
JOHNNY MAC - checked near the 850 metres and lost ground.
DEUS EX - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 7 April that CHUCKLES is being treated for a virus.
Race 10   MLT / THREE RIVERS MOBILE PACE
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - broke in the score-up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Checked and broke in the early stages of the home straight. Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry into this incident with driver J Morrison to be spoken to in the coming days.
BENIO BEN - weakened over the concluding stages.
TONY THE PONY - Stewards questioned Driver T Williams regarding his decision to shift inwards from the one/one position to race four deep on the running line after 400 metres. Mr Williams explained that he took the position four back on the fence to beat the horse that he was following as the driver of that runner had similar intentions and he did not want to sit parked throughout. Stewards noted Mr Williams comments.
NEW YORK MAN - lay inwards in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
YANKEE SHARD - improved rapidly onto the back of the weakening BENIO BEN at the 150 metres making contact with the sulky of that runner and breaking in consequence. Stewards questioned Driver J Douglas regarding this incident and after hearing the explanation tendered issued Mr Douglas a charge of Careless driving which was adjourned sine die by the Judicial Committee.
MISS AUCKLAND - Stewards will speak with driver R McIlwrick in the coming days regarding an incident in the early stages of the home straight.
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 7 April that NEW YORK MAN is being treated for a virus.
Driver J Douglas (YANKEE SHARD) defended a charge of Careless Driving near the 150 metres when making contact with the sulky of BENIO BEN and breaking in consequence. After hearing evidence from the Stewards and Mr Douglas the Judicial Committee found the charge proved and following penalty submissions imposed a suspension of Mr Douglas' licence to drive from the 11th April up to and including 23rd April (3 days)
Stewards concluded their investigation into WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE breaking early in the home straight. After interviewing Drivers R McIlwrick (MISS AUCKLAND) and J Morrison (WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE) and viewing the films in summary Mr McIlwrick advised he had shifted back into the Passing Lane to avoid BENIO BEN when he realised that horse was stopping quickly and as a result briefly placed WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE in tight quarters, resulting in that horse breaking. In evidence Mr Morrison advised that the actions of Mr McIlwrick had little influence on his horse breaking. Mr McIlwrick was issued with a warning for the manner he shifted ground.
