Race 1   ADVANCE AGRICULTURE TROT
WHANGAMATA - lost contact with the body of the field for a distance from the 1000 metres until the 600 metres.
TEASE MY TARTAN - shifted into the Passing Lane at the top of straight when not entitled to do so impeding the progress of a trailing runner. Driver M Hurrell admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) in that he allowed this gelding to shift inwards into the Passing Lane in the home straight impeding another runner, resulting in his runner being relegated to 4th Placing. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the Judicial Committee suspended Mr Hurrell's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing on the 20th January up to and including the 24th January (2 days).
GALLEONS FUTURE - driver E Barron reported she did not release the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
THE POWER BROKER - broke passing the 800 metres losing all chance.
MISSY - broke after 200 metres losing all chance.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - forced to race wide into the first bend by a breaking runner. Broke passing the 80 metres and continued on in a break to the finish. Stewards lodged a Protest against 5th Placing being awarded, alleging this mare had breached the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres of the race. Connections did not contest the Protest and after viewing replays IT'S SUMMERTIME was subsequently disqualified from 5th Placing by the JCA.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - had to shift outwards passing the 120 metres losing considerable momentum when denied access to the Passing Lane by TEASE MY TARTAN which had shifted inwards. Connections of DEM BONES DEM BONES lodged a Protest against 3rd placing being awarded to TEASE MY TARTAN (M Hurrell) alleging interference to DEM BONES DEM BONES (M Williamson) placed 4th. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers, the JCA upheld the protest and relegated TEASE MY TARTAN to 4th placing.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
DONALD TRUMP - broke passing the 500 metres after improving wide on the track.
PETRONELLI GEE - weakened from the 600 metres.
RUMAND COKE - broke shortly after the start. Again broke rounding the first bend losing all chance.
PHOEBE'S DELIGHT - pre-race warmed. Paced away having to be returned to its correct gait by driver S Ottley then broke shortly after losing all chance.
KIWI HEIR - broke passing the 350 metres.
Race 2   OMALASS DRIED MOLASSES MOBILE PACE
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes due to the Protest in Race 1.
CHARLTON REACTOR - broke late in the score-up checking second line runners resulting in a false start being declared. Driver K Tomlinson elected to remain in her allotted position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced in the middle stages. Lay outwards near the 400 metres locking wheels with ARIZONA DOLL.
ART PROFILE - held up rounding the final bend.
MACH O'MELLEY - raced wide into the first bend.
NOOSA BEACH - raced greenly when attempting to shift off the marker line passing the 1600 metres. Briefly hampered by tiring runner on final bend.
ARIZONA DOLL - lay inwards passing the 1400 metres when improving three-wide to the parked position. Weakened from the 700 metres. Locked wheels with CHARLTON REACTOR near the 300 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
SHEZDAWON - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver N Williamson.
JAFFIE J - raced wide without cover in the early stages until improving to the lead near the 1300 metres.
THE NAENAE EXPRESS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Swain. R Swain was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
Race 3   STEWART ISLAND FLIGHTS MOBILE PACE
There was a delay of approximately 5 minutes to the start of this race.
SHOT IN THE DARK - lay inwards on the final bend contacting track markers.
TOUCHE - over-raced in the middle stages.
CHANGEAROUND - raced wide in the early stages.
VINTAGE ROSE - raced three-wide without cover from the 1200 metres.
HONOUR SCROLL - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start.
Race 4   SHANE MATHESON CRUTCHING TROT
ROBO TROUBLE - held up rounding the final bend.
TOLKIEN - driver T Larsen advised that he did not release the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to it trotting roughly leaving the final bend and on various occasions in the home straight.
MADRIK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
MIDNIGHT MEMORIES - weakened from the 1100 metres eventually being retired from the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered a cardiac arrhythmia. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
SVELT - fractious prior to the start causing a delay.
MAUDARCHY - broke shortly after the start losing some ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
THE PEAKY BLINDER - driver B Munro was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke passing the 2200 metres losing considerable ground.
RUBY SEDDON - driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners applied due to the mare trotting roughly.
POSTGRAD SUCCESS - broke at the start losing some ground.
Trainer N Williamson advised that RUBY SEDDON has had her hocks injected since last racing.
Race 5   YOU CAN'T BEAT A TIP TOP TRUMPET FROM NIGHT N DAY MOB PACE
ROCK'N KIWI - co-trainer J Douglas was issued with a warning when presenting this runner with a pacifier not notified. Paced roughly shortly after the start. Lay inwards approaching the first bend contacting track markers, breaking as a consequence and hampering trailing runners. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on one occasion prior to racing next.
SPEIGHTS ON TAP - driver B Morris was warned for using the whip free of the rein passing the 180 metres with his foot removed from the sulky footrest.
BETTASTAR - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
LEITHEN BURN - hung outwards and broke briefly late in the score-up inconveniencing an outside runner and was slightly out of position at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
WHITE LIGHTNING - slightly inconvenienced in the score-up. Lay inwards through the middle stages.
BOARDING PASS - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Raced greenly passing the 700 metres and briefly lost contact with the body of the field.
BRIGADIERS SON - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Raced greenly near the 1100 metres when there was a slight easing of the pace.
STUNIN STAR - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
SEVENTH HEAVEN - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
Race 6   OKAPUA FARMING CO LTD MOBILE PACE
THE WATCHMAN - raced greenly in the early stages.
CHANGE THE SHAPE - raced wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position near the 1600 metres.
CANNON OF GOLD - raced four-wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position near the 1400 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres.
WRECKING BALL - raced wide without cover through the early to middle stages until reaching the parked position near the 1100 metres.
MARIE LONG - paced roughly leaving the final bend and broke passing the 200 metres losing all chance.
SAINT WAITAKI - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver C Ferguson.
BELLE'S BOY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver E Barron. Held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
CAUTIOUS GALLEON - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 9.29am. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to racing next.
Race 7   WILLY'S FLOORING/PHILLIPS HORSE TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
INSARCHATWIST - paced roughly on various occasions during the running. Raced three-wide from the 700 metres, then wider rounding the final bend
CAB CALLOWAY - briefly held up over the concluding stages.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Weakened rounding the final bend.
DUKE OF DUNDEE - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance driver T Larsen advised the gelding had been unsuited to the grass track at its previous start, was relaxed in todays preliminary and had an economical run which suited.
RIDE IN A CONCORDE - raced wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position near the 1650 metres.
TIGER MOTH - out of position at the start due to being hampered by another runner. Following the race driver S Ottley viewed films of the start to ascertain whether her gelding had received a fair start. Stewards requested a ruling and after hearing evidence from starter Mr B Ward, driver Miss Ottley and viewing the replays the Judicial Committee declared the gelding a non-runner.
Race 8   KUBALA SEEDS NUGGET FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
BETTER'S TART - raced four-wide in the early stages, raced three-wide from the 1800 metres until reaching the parked position with a round to go.
CARRERA BELLE - raced wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position near the 1300 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
RAKARIPPA - broke near the 1700 metres losing some ground. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
MISS AUCKLAND - held up rounding the final bend.
PORT AU PRINCE - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 9   MARK JONES RACING/GORDON SUTHERLAND MEMORIAL HCP TROT
AFTERBURNER - swung sideways prior to the tapes being released hampering trailing runners and resulting in a false start being declared. Reared prior to the re-start again hampering runners causing a second false start. Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 7.05pm. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on one occasion prior to racing next. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - got the sulky shaft over its rump prior to the second re-start resulting in the start being aborted.
ARDEE TROUBLE - weakened from the 600 metres.
SPRINGBANK MASON - fractious prior to the start causing a slight delay. Fractious again prior to the re-start. Sent to the Unruly position by the starter where the gelding will now be drawn for its upcoming standing start engagements. Slow to begin. Broke passing the 2100 metres losing all chance.
SEKKIE MONKEY - broke rounding the final bend.
GERSHWIN - broke passing the 2100 metres losing some ground. Trotted roughly then broke passing the 1700 metres.
AVEROSS MAJESTY - required farrier attention prior to the restart and elected to race without hind shoes.
Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry as to the reasons for the false starts in this race.
Stewards concluded an investigation into the reasons for the false starts in this race. After speaking with starter Mr B Ward drivers N Williamson, C Ferguson and S Tomlinson were reminded of their obligations to obey the instructions of the Starter at all times when around at the start area.
Race 10   HOUSE OF TRAVEL LAKERS SUMMER CUP (MOB PACE)
The start time of this event was re-scheduled to 7.30pm at the request of TAB Control.
AMERICAN MAC - broke in the score-up checking second line runners resulting in a false start being declared. Driver M Hurrell elected to start from the Unruly position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
WATCH ME NOW - raced wide in the early stages.
FRANCO SANTINO - raced wide in the early stages.
PEARL HARBOUR - lay inwards near the 900 metres contacting track markers.
Race 11   MOSSDALE RACING MOBILE PACE
The start of this event was delayed 5 minutes at the request of TAB Control.
SENTRY - weakened in the home straight. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
JOHNNY MAC - raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight with driver S Ottley advising that due to this she did not release the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
CALL ME KEITH - held up rounding the final bend.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - over-raced in the early stages.
Race 12   SOUTHLAND DRYWALL SOLUTIONS/FREDDIESAM MOBILE PACE
The start of this event was delayed 5 minutes at the request of TAB Control.
BAILEYS DIAMOND - over-raced in the parked position in the middle stages.
DUASTAR - held up for clear-racing room in the early stages of the home straight. Briefly locked sulky stays with ONESMARTFELLA passing the 180 metres.
CROESUS - raced five-wide rounding the final bend.
ONESMARTFELLA - briefly locked sulky stays with DUASTAR passing the 180 metres.
FLIGHT CREW - raced three-wide without cover from the 1500 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres.
