Race 1   THANKS VIC BRYANT - MOTUKARARA GROUNDSPERSON TROT
ILLEGAL ALIEN - trotted roughly over the crossing when leading.
GREENBANK BETTY - raced greenly over the early stages and was inclined to shift up the track then broke after 100 metres. Raced wide rounding the first turn. Broke again near the 450 metres when challenging the leader, losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
BELLA BUTTON - had to be steadied passing the 1300 metres after ILSAS SON shifted out from the marker line.
EMMA LOUISE - when spoken to regarding the performance Trainer/Driver M Edmonds explained that EMMA LOUISE had picked up a cold following its last race at Kaikoura, which he believed the mare to have fully recovered from, however suggested she may still be suffering some effects from that. A post veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality.
READY I AM - broke at the start and settled at the rear. Driver/ Co-trainer P Wakelin reported the gelding to have sucked wind for the final 1000 metres.
KENNY KEKO - trotted roughly and was slow over the early stages. Lay inwards through the final straight.
EILISH HALL - broke shortly after the start and settled at the rear. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner near the 400 metres.
ILSAS SON - trotted roughly leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
Race 2   RENAISSANCE BREWING MOBILE PACE
MAJOR WILSON - broke briefly near the 1700 metres when leading and was taken up the track before improving to the lead shortly after.
CRISTIANO BUCCINI - denied clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
KERALA STAR - raced wide early stages.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS - raced wide early stages.
HEY TONIGHT - raced roughly in the early stages and got back as a result. Weakened in the run home.
VESNINA - Driver J Dunn reported that he pulled a flat tyre from the 500 metres. Paced roughly in the run home and had to be steadied approaching the 100 metres.
BOLZANO - raced roughly in the early stages then broke briefly.
SHEEZAGOLDENGIRL - over-raced middle stages when towards the rear.
ROSIES TERROR - removed from the unruly for mobile starts.
Race 3   TOUCHDOWN CAR RENTALS PACE
VINCENT VAN GONE - when spoken to regarding the improved performance, co-trainer G Dunn explained that VINCENT VAN GONE had won a recent trial when able to lead so felt the horse was best suited to racing on the pace as it had been able to do today. He added that the gelding had become poorly placed at its last start and not been suited to the tempo set.
DOCTOR STEVE - broke when racing over the crossing checking a trailing runner. Driver R Anderson will be spoken to regarding using his whip free of the rein early in the run home and also for the manner in which he loose reined.
DRINK THE WIND - Trainer R Butt was issued with a $100 minor infringement notice for presenting the mare with blinds which were not notified. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
BUCKINGHAM - broke at the start losing ground before settling. Raced keenly middle stages.
CAPTAIN CONFETTI - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened find bend.
PORT ELIZABETH - locked wheels briefly with FULL OF DESIRE shortly after the start. Shifted wide early in the run home and tired. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
FULL OF DESIRE - locked wheels briefly with PORT ELIZABETH shortly after the start and then broke losing ground before settling.
IT'S A LAUGH - checked by a breaking runner racing over the crossing.
Race 4   HOUGHTON RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE
FRANCO HATTON - broke early in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
ROCKIN VA VA - over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
HUEGO BOS - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance Driver J Dunn advised that the horse did not handle the grass track.
DIXIE FLYER - held up early in the run home.
NO TIME LIKE NOW - Driver G Court was cautioned after using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action and also free of the rein in the run home.
SPORTSCAM - broke near the 200 metres. When questioned regarding this driver J Cox explained that his gelding had tended to shift up the track as DIXIE FLYER improved to its outer and did not attribute blame to the shift of that runner. Stewards took the matter no further.
CARRERA DANCE - broke in the score-up and was back from position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record. The front hopple carrier and the right hind hopple strap broke early in the run home when the gelding was shifted wider on the track. This gear was inspected and found to be in good condition.
UNFAZED - broke near the 350 metres and shifted inwards before falling to the track near the 250 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. Stood down pending a satisfactory trial.
Race 5   CRAYTHORNES HOTEL HALSWELL TROT
FOREIGNER - Stewards reviewed the manner this horse was shifted outwards racing into the first bend by driver G Hunt which caused TAKE AFTER ME to race wider. It was established that FOREIGNER had commenced to shift prior to having its wheel covered and no further action was deemed necessary. G Hunt was spoken to regarding using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion.
MY EYRE - trotted roughly throughout. Driver P Davis was spoken to regarding using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the run home.
DD'S SUPER STUART - when questioned regarding the performance the connections advised that the gelding had become poorly positioned in its last two starts but today had been able to mount its challenge from a position closer to the leaders.
SALLY LINDENNY - broke at the start and lost considerable ground.
THE ARTFUL DODGER - broke near the 1800 metres. Broke again near the 1000 metres when trailing the field. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
ONE OVER DOVER - broke near the 1700 metres losing its chance. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
PLAY DOUGH - raced wide over early stages then broke over the crossing and trailed the field.
Race 6   COMMODORE HOTEL (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
COMFORTABLY NUMB - broke at the start checking a trailing runner and trailed the field. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners.
BROMAC HYPE - weakened late in the run home.
BETTER FLY - broke racing over the crossing losing ground settling at the rear.
LILAC STAR - over-raced when being restrained early.
INVISIBLE GIRL - inconvenienced shortly after the start.
DEJA BLUE - checked shortly the start and broke losing considerable ground. Held up early stages of the run home.
BE MINE TONIGHT - lay in and broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling.
Race 7   COUNTRY FEASTS PACE
CLASSY KID - Driver A Lethaby was spoken to advisedly for using her whip free of the rein near the 300 metres.
ARIZONAWILDCAT - broke at the start and settled towards the rear.
THE KAIK - Driver K Butt was spoken to regarding using her whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the run home.
BLUE CHIP DELIGHT - paced roughly for several strides near the 1300 metres when being restrained off the back of THE KAIK when there was an easing of the pace in the running line.
CHAL BE - Driver J Curtin reported that a sulky tyre deflated during the running.
ADAM PATRON - broke briefly at the start. A post race veterinary examination showed no significant abnormality.
EASTWOOD ISABELLA - when spoken to regarding the performance the connections advised that the mare had to work too hard in the early stages to take up a forward position with this having taken its toll.
JUST N AWE - hampered and lost some ground passing the 1300 metres when there was an easing of the pace in the running line.
Race 8   CRATE & BARREL LEESTON MOBILE PACE
HES FAST AND FURIOUS - raced wide early.
SPANNA - hung inwards early and middle stages of the run home.
BUCKSKIN - the boring pole was removed following the preliminary. Raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
DOCTOR TIM - raced wide early and middle stages.
COPPERHEAD ROSE - raced wide early and middle stages before improving to the lead approaching the 800 metres.
RAZORS EDGE - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 800 metres.
GOOD ON YA KIWI - Driver R Holmes was spoken to regarding using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the run home.
SKIPPYS DELIGHT - over-raced middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
JOHNNY MAC - over-raced early and middle stages. Raced three wide with cover from the 1200 metres.
MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR - held up over final stages.
OVERARM - raced three wide from the 1400 metres.
Race 9   LEO MAY MEMORIAL TROT
THE BLOSS - Stewards will follow up with Trainer/Driver B Borcoskie in the coming days regarding the mare's performance.
STRENGTH OF HEART - lay in entering the home straight when being shifted wider by ESCARGO and contacted that runner's sulky before breaking and losing its chance.
KAHRESS - when spoken to regarding the performance Trainer R Holmes explained that the mare may not have backed up from its most recent run but other than that could offer no tangible excuse. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Mr Holmes in the coming days.
CHIEF OF STAFF - raced wide early stages.
ARISTOCRAT - trotted roughly middle stages. Broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
BEYOND THE HORIZON - hampered near the 250 metres.
MICHELLE - broke near the 500 metres after contacting the sulky wheel of THAT'S THE STORY. Driver W Higgs admitted a charge in that he drove carelessly in this incident with the JCA imposing a fine of $300.00
SIOUX PRINCESS - broke racing over the crossing losing considerable ground. A final warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
Trainer B Borcoskie advised Stewards on 24 November that THE BLOSS has recovered well following its disappointing performance at Motukarara on Sunday and will continue with its current preparation.
Trainer R Holmes advised Stewards on 29 November that KAHRESS has been treated for an elevated GGT level and will be given a brief freshen up in consequence.
Race 10   BOOK EARLY FOR TROTS@MOT 29 DEC MOBILE PACE
DISMARA - paced roughly passing the 150 metres and had to be steadied.
ABSOLUT RUSSIAN - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
MR ASIA - raced keenly on the final bend.
LYDIA - lay out in the score-up hampering IN CHEVRON WE TRUST. Broke briefly shortly after the start and lost ground. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier record.
IN CHEVRON WE TRUST - hampered late in the score-up and was back from position at dispatch. Driver K Butt was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the run home.
