Race 6 - Trainer D Gale advised that CLASSEY ROBIN has had minor surgery to correct an entrapped epiglottis since the mare last raced on the 20 September 2020.

Race 1   LEVIN WOOLBUYERS HANDICAP TROT
MELANIE ADAMS - hampered and had to take evasive action near the 1650 metres. Broke near the 1400 metres losing its chance.
HAKA PRIDE - checked and broke near the 1700 metres losing its chance.
BRANDY AND DRY - broke shortly after the start but soon settled. Placed on the unruly for future stands at the Trainer's request. Raced three wide early and middle stages. Gave ground near the 500 metres.
THANK YOU - broke near the 1700 metres when leading checking trailing runners. Authorisation of this runner's first placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
GET ON THE SAUCE - broke shortly after the start and galloped a considerable distance before settling. Raced three wide early.
CAITLIN'S SURPRISE - hampered by breaking runners near the 1650 metres.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - slow to begin. Broke passing the 100 metres but soon settled. Trotted roughly short of the winning post.
ZONED SCARLETT - broke near the 2200 metres and failed to settle losing its chance.
ARDEE TROUBLE - over-raced middle stages. Broke approaching the 850 metres after competing for a position with SPLITTING IMAGE on the back of THANK YOU in the running line. An investigation was held into this incident. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays Stewards took the matter no further other than to remind the respective Drivers of their obligations given similar circumstances in the future. A warning was placed on ARDEE TROUBLE's racing manners after the gelding had raced fiercely during the middle stages which placed Driver B Orange at a considerable disadvantage.
LEESA CASTLETON - stood on the mark and was slow to begin. Hampered and broke near the 1650 metres but soon settled.
OUR GRACIE - swung outwards at the start and was slow to begin. Raced at the rear throughout and weakened final stages.
Race 2   MAD BUTCHER MOBILE PACE
MAC PAUA - caused a false start at the first attempt when breaking and checking a second row runner. Driver M White elected to retain his position for the restart. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Broke near the 800 metres checking trailing runners and lost its chance. A warning was also placed on the gelding's racing manners.
GLEN ELGIN STARA - broke near the 300 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
BOILOVER - Driver B Orange reported that he had not activated the deafeners due to having the field well covered.
CONOR MCGREGOR - checked and had to take evasive action near the 700 metres to avoid I SAID IMRACN and BLAKE losing considerable ground.
I SAID IMRACN - over-raced middle stages. Checked and had to take evasive action passing the 800 metres and locked wheels with BLAKE losing its chance.
SHEZA ROSE - broke at the start but soon settled. No action was taken given the false start. Broke near the 1100 metres losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
PENTATONIX - pulled hard when following the mobile after the false start. Over-raced middle stages. Checked and had to take evasive action passing the 800 metres to avoid the breaking MAC PAUA.
AURELIA COTTA - lay in contacting marker pegs approaching the 2100 metres. Tired from the 900 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
BLAKE - locked wheels with I SAID IMRACN passing the 800 metres losing its chance and was retired from the event.
Race 3   POST OFFICE HOTEL PAHIATUA MOBILE PACE
ROMA ROSA - Trainer J Young was questioned in relation to the the notified gear for this first starter and his explanation was accepted on this occasion.
SCOTTISH POACHER - failed to secure clear running throughout the home straight.
NICKY JAY - lay in at various stages.
FLEETING MAJOR - Driver K Marshall was spoken to regarding using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the run home.
DRAMATIST - raced erratically for several strides near the 1050 metres when midfield on the outer.
INQUISITO - lay in and paced roughly late in the score up losing ground. Continued to pace roughly at various stages.
Race 4   PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE
MANHATTAN SUNSHINE - broke near the 1750 metres after going to kick and settled towards the rear with the trailing runners having to take evasive action. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners. A hopple side carrier came adrift in this incident.
PAINTED LADY - hampered briefly near the 1750 metres.
POLKA DOT DANCE - broke for several strides near the 100 metres losing ground before settling.
SUPER DUPER DUDE - the connections were cautioned after presenting the gelding without the notified blinds. Paced roughly entering the first turn.
BARBAROSSA - hampered briefly near the 1750 metres.
LIONEL MESSI - hampered briefly near the 1750 metres.
TONICHOOCHOO - paced roughly and then broke entering the first turn before settling at the rear.
SARGENT BEST - hampered briefly near the 1750 metres.
KATCHINKA - raced lethargically at the rear throughout before tiring from the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the filly's racing performance.
Race 5   OSBORNE GROUP CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACE
EMMI ROSE - raced three wide from the 1200 metres.
MATRIKA - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1450 metres. Driver B Orange reported that he had been unable to activate the deafeners due to the release cord becoming entangled.
BEAUDIENE EMERALD - Driver K Marshall was cautioned for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the run home.
CHALBERG - raced three wide from the 1150 metres. Weakened final turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer/Driver L Whittaker advised Stewards that he felt the gelding had flipped its palate after the tongue tie came adrift during the running.
Race 6   MAD BUTCHER MOBILE PACE
SONNY REACTOR - contacted several marker pegs when weakening on the final turn.
LAVAZZA - raced three wide early and middle stages.
WAIHEKE WARRIOR - raced three wide early and middle stages.
ART COURAGE - held up early final turn.
KARMIC WAY - paced roughly rounding the final turn.
Race 7   MASTERTON CLUB MOBILE PACE
SHE'S A REBEL - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners.
JUNGLE GEM - had to take evasive action shortly after the start to avoid the breaking SHE'S A REBEL.
ROMANEE - Driver D Ferguson was cautioned for using his whip in the run home with more than a wrist only flicking action.
Race 8   CONNIE STEWART NZ SOTHEBY'S INTERNATIONAL REALTY MOBILE PACE
TICKING OVER - paced roughly for several strides approaching the 1000 metres. Broke near the 600 metres losing its chance. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
RIPSNORTER - when questioned regarding this runner's performance Driver B Orange stated that the gelding had been required to work early to find the front and had then received midrace pressure when EASTANBULL improved forward to challenge near the 950 metres and that this had taken its toll.
MAC'S TOMADO - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1450 metres. Paced roughly at various stages. Broke near the 600 metres and settled at the rear and then paced roughly rounding the final turn. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
SHANROAD - back at dispatch. Driver J Curtin was warned to maintain his position until dispatch in the future.
ROCKNGOODTIME - gave ground from the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery with an elevated heart rate. Stewards will follow up regarding the gelding's recovery. Trainer L Whittaker advised Stewards on 18 November that ROCKNGOODTIME had recovered satisfactorily and that he could only attribute the disappointing performance to the gelding racing keenly early and possibly to having done too well on pasture since having been transported to Manawatu prior to the meeting.
RORY MCILROY - commenced to weaken from the 800 metres and was retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed early symptoms of a respiratory infection. Trainer W Fleming advised that he would be withdrawing his runners from the second day.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - gave ground final turn.
Race 9   MAD BUTCHER WAIRARAPA CUP MOBILE PACE
UNCLE DREW - held up early final turn.
JACK TAR - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
FRANCO GARRETT - lay out at various stages when leading.
MY MATE BEN - raced three wide early.
MOGUL - back a length at dispatch. Driver B Orange was warned to maintain his position until dispatch in the future. Raced three wide with cover from the 1050 metres.
ABOUT TURN - tended to over-race when being restrained over the early stages.
J BEE - raced three wide from the 1050 metres.
