Trainer O Lawrence advised Stewards on 13 October that MISS AUCKLAND has recovered well following its performance at Ascot Park on Saturday and in view of this will continue with her current preparation.

Race 1   BOB TOWNLEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
BONNIES DELIGHT - lay outwards on the bends and trotted roughly on various occasions during the running. Trotted roughly when under pressure on the final bend.
PRINCE ENVY - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - trainer L Bond was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting this runner without the notified Sliding Blinds.
MAUDARCHY - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. Junior driver S Tomlinson reported the Sliding Blinds applied to the mare had failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
MAJESTIC ROSE - raced wide in the early stages.
MR OLYMPUS - raced wide in the early stages then trotted roughly from the 1400 metres before breaking passing the 1200 metres losing considerable ground. Again broke rounding the final bend.
Following the running of this event Starter Mr B Ward was spoken to regarding the disorganised formation of the 20 metre starters when the tapes were released.
Race 2   DON WRIGHT MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
PETREA BROMAC - driver M Williamson was issued with a warning for the manner which he restrained his runner racing into the first bend resulting in an abrupt easing of the pace with several trailing runners being hampered in consequence. Stewards questioned Mr Williamson regarding the tactics in the early stages when contrary to recent racing did not pressure his runner in order to lead. Mr Williamson explained that it had been his intention to race in front but his runner lay outwards and raced roughly for a short distance. He added that soon after he felt the lead horse ease the speed and so improved but desisted when its driver R McIlwrick turned his whip forwards to quicken. His comments were noted.
MISS AUCKLAND - weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer O Lawrence in the coming days.
JAFFIE J - hampered rounding the first bend when there was an easing of the pace.
TARTAN ROXY - hampered rounding the first bend when there was an easing of the pace.
ARCO - hampered rounding the first bend when there was an easing of the pace.
LECONTE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover.
SLY TRICKS - hampered when becoming awkwardly placed on the sulky wheel of TARTAN ROXY rounding the first bend when there was an easing of the pace in the running line.
Stable representative C Graham advised Stewards on 21 October that MISS AUCKLAND has had her hocks injected since last racing and will have a brief freshen up prior to resuming.
Race 3   ANDY LAIDLAW MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
LADY'S LASS - weakened rounding the final bend. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
ELLNBAC - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare trainer/driver B McLellan could offer no tangible explanation other than ELLNBAC had raced more tractably on the roomier track today.
ANNIE FITZ - held up rounding the final bend.
WAINGARO MARA - over-raced in the score-up. Weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer/driver E Swain reported the gelding had pulled hard during its prelim and the score-up and he would be making gear changes in an effort to rectify this tendency. A warning was placed on the horses racing performance.
FLEETMASTER - raced wide in the early stages. Junior driver E Barron reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the race.
TIGER MOTH - over-raced in the early stages. Paced roughly and broke rounding the final bend before stumbling and losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   BILL KEAST MEMORIAL TROT
MADRIK - driver K Barclay was spoken to advisedly for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
CODY BANNER - broke passing the 1600 metres. Again broke passing the 800 metres.
INSIST THE WIN - broke after 150 metres losing considerable ground.
JAGUAR BAY - became fractious prior to the start and fell to the track. There was a delay to the start of the race due to the sulky needing to be replaced after which JAGUAR BAY underwent a Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Sent to the Unruly position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. There was then a further delay at the request of Raceday Control to allow for off course programming commitments.
JACCKA JEORGE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
KING OF THE NORTH - broke shortly after the start losing some ground.
Race 5   FEAR THE DRAGON AT MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE
NEW YORK MAN - over-raced in the middle stages. Shifted outwards near the 1650 metres forcing MARIE LONG wider on the track. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule at this stage of the race however after viewing replays it was established NEW YORK MAN had commenced its outwards movement prior to MARIE LONG reaching the sulky wheel with the matter taken no further.
MARIE LONG - forced to race wider on the track near the 1650 metres when NEW YORK MAN shifted outwards from the inside. Inconvenienced and locked sulky stays with SHARDS FURY leaving the final bend when TOMMY WATERHOUSE shifted ground outwards.
TOMMY WATERHOUSE - shifted outwards entering the home straight inconveniencing outside runners. Driver K Barclay was spoken to advisedly for the manner she shifted ground. K Barclay was issued a warning for the manner she used her whip free of the rein.
MAYA ANGELOU - held up rounding the final bend.
SHARDS FURY - inconvenienced and locked sulky stays with SHARDS FURY leaving the final bend when TOMMY WATERHOUSE shifted ground outwards.
IMPERIAL TRUMP - driver N Williamson reported he had some difficulty steering the gelding on occasion during the race.
Race 6   BANGIE BOOTH MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
AIRWAVES - when questioned regarding the performance trainer C Laurenson could offer no tangible explanation however advised the gelding will now be sent for a spell.
DALLAS GRIMES - raced wide in the early stages.
CALL ME KEITH - retired from the event passing the 1400 metres when the hopple centre carrier strap came adrift. The gear was inspected and found to be in previous good condition. Trainer H Hunter was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for failing to affix gear so as not to come adrift.
HURRICANE BANNER - over-raced rounding the final bend when held up.
R K FINN - hung inwards rounding the final bend. Held up in the latter stages of the home straight.
MAAHES - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 7   ROY STEVENS MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
FANNY HILL - junior driver K Tomlinson was spoken to advisedly for using her whip free of the rein.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - broke briefly shortly after the start. Weakened rounding the final bend.
PEGAROSE - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination due to not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Broke rounding the final bend.
SAGE TROUBLE - slow to begin.
ANDY HALL - lay inwards in the home straight and contacted the right hind leg of TWEEDLEDEE causing the sulky tyre to puncture.
ZONED SCARLETT - over-raced in the middle stages.
GERSHWIN - weakened from the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
DE VITO - trotted roughly on various occasions during the running.
SEKKIE MONKEY - trotted roughly when slow to begin. Hampered by a tiring runner near the 600 metres losing ground. Lay inwards rounding the final bend.
ONLY ONE WAY - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance stable representative M Williamson advised he was not surprised today after the last start effort which he felt had been a very good run in the circumstances.
TWEEDLEDEE - raced roughly when crowded in the early stages of the run home and made contact with the sulky wheel of ANDY HALL
Race 8   WAIRIO LIFE MEMBERS JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - checked by breaking runner rounding the final bend.
AMERICAN EYRETIME - junior driver T Larsen will be spoken to in the coming days regarding his use of the whip free of the rein.
LONGUEVAL - broke rounding the final bend when placed in tight quarters.
ZAMBIA - hung outwards throughout despite the efforts of driver C Smith. Shifted up the track throughout the home straight checking RACING MINISTER (J Morrison) and VINTAGE ROSE (E Barron) and forcing both runners to be steadied and taken wider on the track. Following the running of this event the connections of the 3rd and 4th placed runners lodged a Protest into 2nd place being awarded to ZAMBIA alleging that without that interference they would have beaten ZAMBIA home. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all persons involved the JCA upheld the Protest and relegated ZAMBIA to 4th placing. When questioned regarding the incident junior driver C Smith explained his runner had hung outwards throughout, with this worsening significantly when one sliding blind did not activate. No action was taken against Mr Smith.
SWIFT ROBYN - raced wide in the early stages.
VINTAGE ROSE - lay inwards on the final bend crowding inside runners resulting in LONGUEVAL breaking and checking IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY in consequence.
GLENTHORNE - raced three-wide without cover from the 1300 metres.
SENTRY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of junior driver M Hurrell. Paced roughly shortly after the start.
RACING MINISTER - J Morrison will be spoken to regarding his whip use leaving the final bend.
FOREGONE CONCLUSION - when spoken to regarding the geldings performance trainer J Cox advised the horse was unsuited to the tempo of todays race however had still disappointed him. He added that it was his intention to have blood tests taken in the coming days. Stewards will follow up with Mr Cox.
Trainer J Cox advised Stewards on 19 October that blood tests taken from FOREGONE CONCLUSION revealed no abnormalities with Mr Cox of the opinion that the gelding had not backed up from its run at Ascot Park five days earlier.
Race 9   REG DRAKE LADYSHIP MILE FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
INSARCHATWIST - paced roughly in the early stages. Held up for the majority of the home straight.
EMMA STONE - driver P Hunter will be spoken to in the coming days with regard using his whip over the concluding stages.
DONT LIE TO ME - raced wide in the early stages.
DRESS CODE - B Orange was spoken to regarding using his whip in more than a wrist flicking motion.
Race 10   SOUTHLAND VEHICLE SALES MOBILE PACE
BARDOT - weakened from the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
FOLKLORE - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver J Cox expressed disappointment however could offer no tangible explanation. Mr Cox advised he would have blood tests conducted on the mare in the coming days and undertook to inform Stewards of the results.
SANTANNA MACH - over-raced in the score-up.
A DELIGHTFUL ACT - driver B Orange advised he was unable to activate the Sliding Blinds applied to the mare due to the cord becoming entangled.
Trainer J Cox advised Stewards that blood tests taken from FOLKLORE revealed low iron levels with this currently being treated.
