Cambridge Harness - Thursday, 27th August 2020
Race 1 - THE CLUBHOUSE OPEN 7 DAYS HANDICAP TROT
Stewards have concluded their investigation into Driver N Chilcott's handling of IVEGOTBILLS over the concluding stages with regard to her apparent lack of vigour. When questioned Ms Chilcott advised that IVEGOTBILLS was inexperienced and had proved a handful in its two previous starts when breaking on several occasions at Auckland on the 06 August and then pulling hard at its previous start at Cambridge on the 15 August. Ms Chilcott further stated that the gelding had a tendency to trot roughly and you had to keep him under restraint at all times and only use the whip sparingly as he will gallop if you let his head go. She then added that it is for this reason that she has driven IVEGOTBILLS in a very conservative manner up to this stage in its career. Ms Chilcott also advised that the gelding had pulled up lame the following day with a blow out on the off hind coronet band and that this had developed into a quarter crack which resulted in the gelding having to be turned out to enable the injury to heal. The injury to the horse was confirmed by Stewards. After considering the evidence of Ms Chilcott and reviewing replays of the gelding's previous races and workout performances, Stewards noted her explanation and deemed no further action necessary other than to remind Ms Chilcott of her obligations under Rule 305 in relation to reporting any condition that may have had a bearing on her horse's performance. The RIU Betting Analyst confirmed that there was no irregularity found in regard to betting on this race.
