Junior driver S Thornley advised that he had trouble steering the mare and would be recommending gear changes to the connections to rectify this. | |
THE GARDENER'S PRIDE - the mare was retired from the event passing the 1400 metres due to strap on the breast plate coming adrift. This gear was inspected and found to be of good order. | |

FUTURA EASTON - slow away. Returned to the stabling area with blood in both nostrils. A post race veterinary examination, including a scope, confirmed the horse to be a bleeder and was stood down for the mandatory 30 days, after which time must provide a veterinary clearance and then trial satisfactorily on one occasion. | |

LENNOX BROMAC - broke at the start. Over-raced near the 1000 metres. | |
UNICO GEM - broke at the start. Held up over the concluding stages of the run home and as a result Driver R Close was unable to activate the notifiable gear. | |
FYNN FROST - raced fiercely throughout. Driver K Cameron drove with his foot out of the sulky foot rest through the run home. When questioned, Mr Cameron explained that his seat had slipped in the early stages and left him awkwardly placed during the running. He said that in the run home he had lowered his leg to prevent further slipping once his runner was more tractable. Stewards took the matter no further. | |
