Race 1   A ROCKNROLL DANCE AT NEVELE R STUD MOBILE PACE
BOILOVER - briefly placed in tight quarters passing the 1900 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
MISS IVY - lost contact with the body of the field passing the 1700 metres and was not persevered with thereafter by junior driver E Barron. Miss Barron could offer no explanation for the performance of MISS IVY other than in her opinion the mare may not have backed up from its previous start at Invercargill on 3rd September. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer B McIntyre advised he would be reassessing the racing future of MISS IVY. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
SWEET CHILLI - over-raced in the early to middle stages. Weakened rounding the final bend.
ALEXIS ROCKET - raced wide rounding the first bend.
Race 2   GOLD ACE AT NEVELE R STUD MOBILE PACE
TO RI CAITLIN - held up rounding the final bend. Paced roughly and broke briefly passing the 300 metres.
ANNIE FITZ - raced wide into the first bend.
LOCK IT IN EDDIE - raced three-wide without cover from the 1500 metres. Inconvenienced rounding the final bend.
SQUARE DEALER - raced wide through the early stages until obtaining the parked position near the 1650 metres.
Race 3   VINCENT AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE
MATRIKA - battled after receiving an economical run. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised that the gelding had been very disappointing.
HAMPTON - raced wide into the first bend. Held up rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Barclay advised the gelding had been very disappointing in the final straight.
FRANCO JUNE - raced wide through the early stages prior to improving to the lead near the 1500 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
Race 4   MUSCLE MASS AT NEVELE R STUD TROT
FLYIN SID - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start engagements at the request of trainer T Chmiel.
GALLEONS FUTURE - weakened rounding the final bend.
CODY BANNER - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
AMERICAN VIKING - broke passing the 1850 metres losing considerable ground.
TROT BLACK - weakened from the 1200 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery and some bi-lateral hind limb stiffness. Blood tests were conducted and Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Connections of TROT BLACK advised the Stewards on 16 September that blood tests conducted following its disappointing performance revealed the gelding to be suffering from a virus for which it is receiving treatment and will now also be sent for a spell.
Race 5   BRECKON FARMS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
MARY ROBYN - authorisation of all placings was withheld until the connections of the 2nd placed MARY ROBYN had viewed the films of the home straight and after consultation with the Stewards were satisfied there were no grounds to lodge a Protest against 1st placing being awarded to BARIKA.
BARIKA - junior driver O Kite in the presence of his employer Mr N Williamson was shown the films and spoken to advisedly regarding his use of the whip over the concluding stages.
ROLL WITH EUNICE - paced roughly then broke passing the 1300 metres.
TSUNAMI - weakened from the 400 metres.
EXPRESSIVE LOVE - slow to begin. Paced roughly then broke racing into the first bend. Weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an elevated heart rate and some bi-lateral hind limb stiffness. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Trainer G Court advised Stewards that EXPRESSIVE LOVE has recovered well from its disappointing performance last week at Winton adding that the filly had improved in condition this week.
Race 6   MAJESTIC SON AT ALABAR TROT
MISS JESSICA - driver T Robertson will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner he used his whip prior to the 400 metres.
ROBO TROUBLE - weakened leaving the final bend.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - weakened from the 800 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of a possible respiratory condition. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
POSTGRAD SUCCESS - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke passing the 1500 metres losing considerable ground.
JAGUAR BAY - fractious prior to the start.
HELLUVA WAY - raced wide into the first bend. Held up rounding the final bend.
MR OLYMPUS - trotted roughly on various occasions during the running.
Trainer L Bond advised Stewards on 17 September that CUDDLY TROUBLE is being treated for a cold.
Race 7   ULTIMATE MACHETE AT ALABAR FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
B K SWY - raced three-wide with cover from the 1000 metres, then four wide from the 600 metres before battling rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance junior driver J Morrison expressed disappointment however could offer no tangible explanation.
SWIFT ROBYN - locked wheels with BRIGHTEST MOMENT in the score-up hampering RAKABEACH and resulting in the score-up being aborted. Junior driver K Tomlinson elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart due to the mare becoming fired up after the initial score-up was aborted. Raced wide through the early to middle stages.
BRIGHTEST MOMENT - hung inwards rounding the first bend.
TULSA JACCKA - held up rounding the final bend.
SWEET LIZZIE - raced wide rounding the first bend.
WHO'S SMOKIN - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
BARDOT - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer M Murrell advised that the mare had finally received a suitable draw in a race run to suit and added BARDOT had been working well in the lead up to today.
RAKABEACH - over-raced in the middle stages.
Race 8   ALWAYS B MIKI AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE
DODGETHEBULLET - paced roughly on various occasions during the running.
HURRICANE BANNER - placed in tight quarters over the concluding stages, having to be briefly restrained.
AIRWAVES - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CAB CALLOWAY - weakened rounding the final bend.
TOBY O'GARA - weakened from the 1500 metres and was eventually retired from the event by driver N Williamson who reported the gelding had felt indifferent in its action. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered an atrial fibrillation with TOBY O'GARA subsequently stood down pending a Veterinary clearance which is to include the results of an ECG.
TRES CHIC - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Authorisation of 5th placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied TRES CHIC had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
HILARIOUS PRINCE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Ottley. Shifted down the track under pressure over the concluding stages.
IVANA LEGACY - shifted down the track under pressure over the concluding stages.
Following the running of this event the official track conditions were upgraded to Easy.
Race 9   PLUMBING WORLD HANDICAP TROT
FANNY HILL - broke at the start losing its chance and was eventually retired from the event by driver M Williamson.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
HUMBLE LADD - driver B Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
Race 10   YALDHURST HOTEL HANDICAP PACE
I'M TROUBLE - tangled away.
DACHY - cleared from the Unruly for upcoming standing start engagements.
PEMBROOK PLAYBOY - shifted down the track on several occasions in the home straight, having to be straightened by driver N Williamson.
FRANCO SANTINO - broke at the start and was then further inconvenienced by a breaking runner.
JAZZY STAR - broke at the start and shifted inwards abruptly, hampering FRANCO SANTINO and SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS which had to take evasive action. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
U MAY CULLECT - when questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver K Barclay advised the gelding was not suited by the moderate race tempo and sprint home however would take significant benefit from the outing.
SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS - broke at the start and was then further inconvenienced when taking evasive action to avoid a breaking runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 11   MICO PLUMBING MOBILE PACE
BELLE'S BOY - shifted out abruptly in the score-up hampering LYNRYD SKYNRYD and necessitating a false start be declared. Driver B Williamson elected to remain in his allotted barrier position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. The boring pole was removed prior to the re-start due to gelding becoming fractious.
THE HUSTLER - paced roughly and broke racing into the first bend, losing ground.
SENTRY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R McIlwrick. Broke passing the 600 metres losing its chance.
