MISSY MOO - over-raced middle stages.
TEHORO DAZZLE - broke approaching the 800 metres for a short distance losing considerable ground. Held up on the final bend. Stewards spoke with driver S Thornley regarding his decision to persist with a run on the pylons on the final bend behind the weakening WESTEROS as opposed to shifting outwards and around that runner to find clear racing room. Mr Thornley explained that WESTEROS was hanging outwards strongly giving him the impression that runner would continue to shift up the track granting him an inside run however a full run had not eventuated leading to him being held up for some distance. He added that his horse had not travelled well after it had broken which contributed to the decision he made. Stewards accepted his comments.
SUGARINSPICE - broke at the start and lost its chance. Weakened from the 700 metres.
HORSE OF COURSE - trotted roughly in the early stages having to be steadied causing the gelding to lose considerable ground. Trotted roughly throughout the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
KOWHAI SUNDOWN - trotted roughly through the back straight on the final occasion.
