Race 1   McMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS PACE
KINGSDOWN ATOM - held up throughout the run home.
CONQUER ME - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Raced wide from the 1300 metres after KING ARTHUR shifted outwards.
KWIK SPORT - when questioned regarding the performance, the connections advised the gelding had not been suited by the slushy track conditions however were still disappointed with its efforts and would be having blood tests taken in the coming days and undertook to notify the results to Stewards.
DON'T TELL ANGE - broke in the early stages.
FRANCO HATTON - weakened from the 400 metres.
WOMAN IN CHARGE - when questioned regarding the mare's improved performance, trainer V Sell advised that the horse had been treated for corns since she had taken over it's training and once this issue had been rectified performed well behind subsequent race winner OLIVER NORTH at the Timaru trials. Ms Sell added that the horse had also taken advantage of today's sit and sprint race tempo which she felt best suited her mare.
KING ARTHUR - slow to begin. Stewards questioned driver J Gray regarding a potential breach of the Push Out Rule at the 1300 metres when it was observed that CONQUER ME was forced to race wider on the track. After considering the comments made by drivers R Holmes (CONQUER ME) and J Gray (KING ARTHUR), Stewards were satisfied that Mr Gray had commenced his outwards move prior to CONQUER ME reaching his wheel. Notwithstanding this Mr Gray was reminded of his obligations regarding the Push Out Rule. An enquiry was opened into Mr Gray's use of the whip in the home straight.
Trainer M Purvis advised Stewards on 22 July that KWIK SPORT was found to have soreness in a fetlock following its run at Addington on Sunday with the fetlock being injected in consequence.
Race 2   SPECTATORS BAR & BISTRO MOBILE TROT
JUSTAN'S SISTER - Stewards questioned driver S Tomlinson about her decision to move down to the inside near the 600 metres rather than track MISSUCCI who was racing in the one one position. Miss Tomlinson advised that she had attempted to take up the position behind BRIGHT GLOW when that runner moved outwards however she had soon after been eased inwards by MISSUCCI. Miss Tomlinson said that her runner did not cope well with having to race wide on the final bend which she anticipated having to do to get around BRIGHT GLOW and MISSUCCI. After reviewing the matter Stewards deemed this shift at the 600m did not have any bearing on her finishing position and accepted her comments.
MISSUCCI - cleared from the unruly for mobile starts.
Race 3   XCM SPORT HANDICAP PACE
LENNOX BROMAC - broke at the start, settled and then hampered by BEAU MAJOR.
THE KAIK - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home only able to be fully pressured inside the final 100 metres.
BEAU MAJOR - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start and galloped inside the markers for 50 metres before driver R Holmes was able to return the horse to the track. Stewards spoke with trainer G McStay regarding the gelding's manners and he was advised the horse is now stood down from standing starts until it completes a satisfactory trial. Weakened from the 500 metres.
PATS DRAGON - lay inwards and contacted two track markers near the 1400 metres.
JIMMY CANNON - when spoken to regarding the gelding's improved performance trainer J Alford explained the horse had raced too keenly last week leading him to make several gear changes this week which had allowed the horse to settle throughout. He added that his runner today had enjoyed an economical run and met a field which was a significant drop back in calibre than recently encountered opposition. Driver M Anderson was spoken to regarding his use of the whip and an Information was opened and adjourned by the JCA until the NZ Metropolitan TC meeting on 24 July 2020.
BRANTLEY - broke briefly at the start.
STICK MAN - broke briefly at the start. Weakened leaving the final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance, trainer P Court was not able to offer any explanation. Stewards will follow up with Mr Court in the coming days.
Trainer P Court advised Stewards on 22 July that STICK MAN has recovered well following a tough run last week and in his opinion would improve with that run.
Driver M Anderson (JIMMY CANNON) admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted and the JCA suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing on 31 July up to and including 9 August 2020 (4 days).
Race 4   TELTRAC COMMUNICATIONS PACE
BOLZANO - broke at the start.
KERALA STAR - broke at the start.
ASHES TO ASHES - driver R May was shown the films and spoken to advisedly after driving for a distance in the home straight with his foot not in the sulky footrest.
MONEY HONEY - began awkwardly.
ATARAH - broke at the start.
CRISTIANO BUCCINI - fractious causing a delay to the start and was sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future standing starts. Began awkwardly.
HARRISON - broke at the start.
Race 5   GARRARDS' HORSE & HOUND MOBILE PACE
KAYLA MAGUIRE - returned to the stable with blood present in both nostrils with a veterinary examination confirming the mare had bled. Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including a clear scope required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
MAGICAL MATTY - briefly held up on the home bend.
FUN IN THE DARK - over-raced in the early stages.
FRANCO SHERBORNE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Tomlinson.
Race 6   IRT 'YOUR HORSE OUR PASSION' PACE
TERROR THE CHRISTIAN - slow to begin.
FYNN FROST - driver K Cameron admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations and was fined $300 by the JCA.
GUIDO DA SIENA - weakened on the final bend.
KIWIS ARE FLYING - broke at the start.
ELO LOUISE - broke near the 2300 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record. Trainer/driver R Todd advised it was his intention to spell the mare.
HELD TO RANSOM - briefly raced roughly in the early stages.
Race 7   LAMB & HAYWARD REGIONAL RACING SERIES MOBILE PACE
PLAYBOY PRINCE - held up in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
SZYBKA LANE - driver G Telfer admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations and was fined $200 by the JCA.
DODGETHEBULLET - lay outwards under pressure over the final stages.
Race 8   VENUE HIRE AT ADDINGTON TROT
TEQUILA SUNSET - held up throughout the final straight.
JERRY GARCIA - broke after 100 metres and settled into a pace then having to be restrained before returning to its correct gait.
HONEYS SON - Stewards spoke with stable representative Ms A Tomlinson prior to racing beginning regarding the decision to start the gelding on a slushy track when she had advised Stewards on 28 June that the horse would only race on tracks that were not rain affected. Ms Tomlinson said that comment related to grass tracks and not all weather tracks and that as long as the track today was not too slushy the horse would not be scratched. Began awkwardly and got back as a result. Trotted roughly on occasions in the middle stages. Raced roughly through the final straight having to be restrained by driver S Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
MAJESTIC ROLLON - broke after 50 metres. Again broke approaching the 450 metres.
ARDEE TROUBLE - broke approaching the 300 metres. Cleared from the unruly for standing starts.
MICKEY JAY - trotted roughly when shifted to a three wide position hear the 1000 metres. Broke near the 250 metres. A final warning was placed on the gelding' racing record.
Race 9   BLUE STAR TAXIS MOBILE PACE
JENABELLA - broke prior to dispatch losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Over-raced middle stages. The connections advised they would be considering gear changes for the mare's future racing.
TIGER MOTH - broke when shifting ground soon after the start to avoid a galloping runner losing considerable ground in consequence. Briefly held up on the final bend.
