RAINBOW WIRI - paced roughly and then broke shortly after the start. Driver L Darby reported that the offside sliding blind failed to activate.
VANHALEM - Driver C Sharpe reported that he had not activated the deafeners due to having some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
MARIANNA BROMAC - Trainer M House was issued with a caution for failing to have the correct colours available.
Race 2   KEITH PEREIRA CONCERT JULY 3 @ CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared after GIRLS ARE BEST was unable to fill its position on the mobile after SUNSET RED had initially scored up wider on the track than its barrier 1 position. Driver D Ferguson (SUNSET RED) explained that the mare had tended to run away from the boring pole over the early stages of the score up which resulted in the outside runners being crowded. Mr Ferguson was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners.
POTT LUCK - improved three wide with cover inside the 1000m before regaining a position in the one out running line but failed on to run on to finish in 8th place beaten 15.4 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Butcher stated that tonight's event had been run at a considerably stronger tempo than at POTT LUCK's previous start and that the filly had received every opportunity.
GIRLS ARE BEST - inconvenienced by a weakening runner approaching the 800m and paced roughly for several strides when attempting to improve three wide.

Commenced to over-race middle stages before becoming fierce passing the 1100m which resulted in the gelding shifting in and contacting the inside sulky wheel of FLETCH. HAPPY PLACE then broke losing its chance with trailing runners being inconvenienced briefly before HAPPY PLACE was retired from the event. Trainer T Vince was advised that a warning would be placed on both the gelding's barrier and racing manners. Mr Vince could only attribute the performance to HAPPY PLACE being overly fresh in its second run back from a spell and advised that he would be replacing the hopples for the gelding's next start after racing free legged in tonight's event. A post race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to the off hind fetlock.

Race 8   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS HANDICAP PACE
RACKETEERS BOY - broke at the start losing its chance.
THE BANDIT QUEEN - broke over the early stages and trailed the field throughout.
CALLIE'S DELIGHT - Driver J Dickie was questioned regarding the manner in which he drove passing the 400m where he elected to shift inwards from a three wide position on the back of FLYING STEPS to follow THE LONE RANGER with CALLIE'S DELIGHT then being badly held up throughout the home straight when unable to obtain clear running to finish in 3rd place beaten 1.1 lengths. Mr Dickie stated that he had initially hoped to follow RED REACTOR (M McKendry) forward after that runner improved three wide to his outer inside the 1000m but that did not occur due to RED REACTOR not progressing as he would have liked before eventually shifting out to trail that runner briefly near the 600m. He further explained that S Butcher (FLYING STEPS) had then followed PARKER when that runner shifted to a three wide position which forced RED REACTOR wider on the track so he felt it was his best option to shift down the track to trail FLYING STEPS before shifting in further to improve forward to the inside of FLYING STEPS as otherwise he felt he would have been forced to attempt to improve four and five wide on the final turn. Mr Dickie then added that runs did not eventuate as he had hoped with CALLIE'S DELIGHT finishing full of running after having raced in restricted room over the final stages. After considering the matter Stewards were of the opinion that Mr Dickie's tactics were not so unreasonable as to be culpable and no further action was deemed necessary.
