A DELIGHTFUL ACT - when spoken to regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, trainer M Kerr reported that the filly may not have backed up from its fresh up run last week and it was his intention to have blood tests taken in the coming days. Stewards accepted her explanation and WINTERFELL will now be drawn unruly.
Race 5   GARRARDS SIRES STAKES SERIES No.37 (HEAT 1) MOBILE PACE
FIRST CLASS - driver T Williams reported the deafeners were not released due to having the field covered. Stewards questioned T Williams regarding the tactics he employed in the early stages when he allowed himself to be crossed by DELIGHTFUL DUDE near the 1800 metres but then shifted outwards near the 1550 metres and improved forward to lead and whether those tactics were designed to assist DELIGHTFUL DUDE. Mr Williams explained that he had been happy to trail initially as he identified KRUG as his strongest competitor and so saw it in his best interests to not have that horse race in the trail behind him throughout. He then said that on the first bend near the 1600 metres the parked KING OF CLAY conceded some ground and so sought to take advantage of this and improve to the lead which would benefit him further. Williams explained that at this time he was not aware that KRUG had been able to shift outwards into the two wide line. After considering his explanation his comments were noted.
BETTOR CALL ME - paced roughly just prior to the start and was back slightly.
PLATINUM STRIDE - paced roughly on the final bend and had to be steadied for several strides.
