Race 1   TERRY BROTHERS HANDICAP TROT
HAKA PRIDE - trotted roughly and contacted track markers rounding the first turn and then broke briefly near the 2200 metres.
MACKALI - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
HELGA'S MONARCH - lay in and broke briefly near the 1700 metres. Continued to lay in rounding the turns losing ground. Broke near the 800 metres when trailing the field and was retired from the event.
CAITLIN'S SURPRISE - inconvenienced and broke briefly passing the 1700 metres.
BELMONT'S GREATEST - weakened from the 600 metres.
Race 2   WANGANUI JOCKEY CLUB MOBILE PACE
JETSON HUNTER - Driver J Curtin reported that he did not activate the deafeners due to having the field covered.
KATCHING STARS - tired from the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the filly's racing performance.
NICKY JAY - broke in the initial stages of the score up losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners. Broke again near the 1100 metres when trailing the field and was retired from the event with gear that came adrift. Trainer K Goss was given the benefit of the doubt in relation to the gear malfunction due to the mare's early gallop.
Race 3   WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB 139 YEARS YOUNG MOBILE PACE
TOMMY TAHI - raced three wide early.
HOPEING FOR GLORY - Trainer M House was fined $50.00 for the late notification of gear for the gelding. Worked hard early in an attempt to cross for the lead and then paced roughly near the 1700 metres. Shifted out approaching the 100 metres and had to be corrected before finishing in second place beaten half a length.
SUNHI MAGIC - raced three wide without cover from the 1100 metres. Lay in under pressure early in the run home.
Race 4   PALAMOUNTAINS SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION MOBILE PACE
JIVE - raced in the trail behind the leader. Inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the final turn but failed to run on and finished at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Driver B Butcher advised he was disappointed with the mare's run. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer S Dickson stated that in hindsight the mare may have done too well since its previous start on the grass at New Plymouth and that he expected her to be improved from today's run.
SONNY REACTOR - over-raced when being eased to take a trail rounding the first turn.
MUSTANG GT - held up early final turn.
OPAWA MACH - raced three wide early before improving to race outside the leader. Commenced to weaken passing the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Junior Driver D Ferguson advised he was disappointed with the mare's run.
Race 5   AG CHALLENGE LTD WANGANUI CUP MOBILE PACE
FLETCH - paced roughly passing the 400 metres and lay in contacting marker pegs.
MISTER HARRIS - inconvenienced briefly passing the 400 metres.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - over-raced middle stages.
SANTANNA MACH - raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear.
Race 6   DONOGHUE FAMILY/WANGANUI MARIST RUGBY MOBILE PACE
ABSOLUT RUSSIAN - led up but only battled in the run home to finish in seventh place beaten 4.5 lengths. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
HILARIOUS PRINCE - over-raced middle stages. Improved three wide without cover near the 950 metres. Junior Driver D Ferguson reported that the gelding had been striking its sulky wheels causing it to over-race.
ONEDIN PUNTER - raced four wide from the 600 metres.
NATURAL FIRE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver S Doody. Held up in the final turn and the early stages of the run home.
PORT DELIGHT - held up round the home turn and throughout the run home. Junior Driver A Harrison reported that she did not activate the deafeners as a result.
Race 7   TARANAKI KIDZ KARTZ SUPPORTERS MOBILE PACE
LINCOLN MOMENT - Driver J Abernethy reported that the deafeners failed to activate despite his efforts. Trainer D Gale was cautioned in relation to the gear malfunction. Over-raced rounding the first turn when being restrained.
UNCLE DREW - raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear.
Race 8   MANAWATU CUP ON THURSDAY MOBILE PACE
SARANDON - paced roughly and then broke inside the 300 metres losing ground before settling.
WAINGARO MARA - raced three wide from the 1100 metres. Weakened passing the 400 metres.
