Race 4 - SBSR ON NZB STANDARDBRED FOR VIDEOS & PEDIGREES HCP TROT
Driver P Davis admitted a breach of Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure OVERZEALOUS was given full opportunity to obtain the best possible placing by failing to show sufficient vigour between the 200 metres and 60 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Davis' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 13 March up to and including 27 March 2020 (4 days).

Trainer T Bagrie advised Stewards on 4 March that THE GOVERNOR has recovered well following its disappointing performance at Addington last week and after a quiet week will continue with its current preparation.

CAMBIRE - broke at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner after 100 metres.
HELLO ADELE - broke at the start and shifted inwards after 100 metres checking JENABELLA. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the Trainer's request.
PRODIGAL GUINNESS - shied when leading near the 1400 metres causing several trailing runners to be hampered. A warning was placed on the racing record of this gelding. Driver T Williams advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SA FACT - slow in the early stages.
JENABELLA - checked by a breaking runner after 100 metres and broke. Over-raced middle stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
NO NUKES SKIPPER - struck a pylon near the 800 metres which was dislodged.
Race 2   NELSON PINE INDUSTRIES TROT
GOTTA TICKET - broke after 100 metres after being checked by TUSCAN SUN and locked wheels. Broke when racing over the crossing near the 900 metres. Authorisation of fourth place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
MENTALIST - broke at the start. Broke near the 200 metres. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer C McDowell.
SUMMA SONGBIRD - broke at the start.
MARANATHA ATLAS - Driver S Ottley reported the gelding had hung outwards throughout the home straight resulting in her being unable to utilise the passing lane.
GOOSE HEALY - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Broke when racing over the crossing near the 900 metres. Driver C Markham reported that he was unable to drive the gelding out in the home straight due to the horse trotting roughly.
TUSCAN SUN - broke after 100 metres when locking wheels with GOTTA TICKET. Driver S Clarke admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly after 100 metres by shifting inwards when insufficient room existed resulting in GOTTA TICKET being checked. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Clarke's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 8 March up to and including 5 April 2020 (4 weeks) and in addition imposed a fine of $250.
BUILD A BRIDGE - broke near the 200 metres.
SHEZA MIGHTY MONARCH - broke racing into the first bend. Broke late in the run home.
Race 3   CRITERION HOTEL PACE
WEBS REACTOR - broke at the start. Driver C Markham advised that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
OLDE OAK ELLIE - raced wide early stages. Hung outwards after being briefly placed in restricted room near the 100 metres and locked wheels with PEMBROOK TILLY for a short distance.
PEMBROOK TILLY - over-raced middle stages. Held up early stages of the run home. Briefly locked wheels with OLDE OAK ELLIE near the 100 metres.
STYX KIWI - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver T Williams was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground near the 100 metres.
WAYNE'S DREAM - broke briefly at the start. Paced roughly when racing over the crossing near the 900 metres. Hampered near the 100 metres.
POCKET ROCKNROLL - broke at the start losing all chance.
OWHATANIGHT - raced wide early stages. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1200 metres. Hung outwards throughout.
FRIENDLY EYRE - broke at the start. Hampered near the 1200 metres. Trainer M Brown was warned for failing to notify the gelding would be racing with removable deafeners.
DRINK THE WIND - briefly broke near the 1200 metres hampering a trailing runner.
Race 4   TRT BUILDERS TEAM TEAL LADY DRIVERS' CHALLENGE TROT
DD'S SUPER STUART - held up throughout the home straight. Driver E Barron was warned for allowing her runner to race inside track markers leaving the final bend.
SODS LAW - broke briefly at the start.
SHPEEDY - broke at the start. Paced after 100 metres before breaking near the 1600 metres. Broke again home straight. Junior Driver S Diamant (assisted by C Thornley) admitted a breach of Rule 870(1) in that she failed to take all reasonable steps to return her horse to the proper gait at the earliest opportunity. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $250.
ROGIE FALLS - broke at the start.
JUST ONE MORE - tangled away. Trotted roughly final bend before breaking near the 200 metres.
SIOUX PRINCESS - hung outwards throughout the run home.
Race 5   REA FAMILY MOBILE PACE
PRODIGAL PETE broke racing into the first bend and shifted outwards checking GOTTA C TINTIN with Driver S O'Reilly being dislodged from the sulky. GOTTA C TINTIN continued driverless with the race being stopped by Stewards in accordance with Rule 211A(1). All horses were examined by the veterinarian and cleared to start in the re-run. Miss O'Reilly was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury. A warning was placed on the racing record of PRODIGAL PETE.
TAMBA - weakened final bend.
CONQUISTADOR - paced roughly shortly after the start. Broke near the 400 metres.
PRESIDENT PAT - raced wide early stages. Driver N Burton was spoken to advisedly for the manner he shifted ground near the 700 metres.
BETTOR GRUNTER - raced wide early stages.
GOTTA C TINTIN - raced wide early stages.
MILLWOOD CLEOPATRA - struck pylons rounding the final bend. Driver M Anderson was warned to make a greater effort to ensure he does not make contact with pylons in future.
LORD OF THE DANCE - broke in the early stages of the score up losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Driver J Cox advised that he would be recommending gear changes prior to racing on Sunday.
HE'S AFLYIN - raced wide middle stages. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
Race 6   CANTERBURY PRINT SERVICE MOBILE PACE
The start time for this Race was delayed by five minutes due to the previous race being stopped and re-run.
SHEZSOMETHINSPECIAL - over-raced middle stages.
HONOUR SCROLL - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced middle stages. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Trainer S Lock and Driver R McIlwrick had reviewed a replay of the score up and were satisfied the mare had not been denied a fair start.
KAYLA MAGUIRE - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MALINKA - held up leaving final bend.
Race 7   BULLER REFRIGERATION & ELECTRICAL PACE
ULTIMATE ROCKER - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home. Driver J Curtin advised he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners.
GOD ONLY KNOWS - the required veterinary clearance was received. Trainer/Driver G Smith was warned for presenting the gelding to race without a number. Broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Mr Smith was also warned for the manner he attempted to restrain the gelding while in a break.
BONNY'S GEM - tangled away. Hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
MR BOHANNON - when spoken to regarding the performance Driver S Lethaby reported the gelding had been unsuited to the pace of the race and having to improve very wide on the final bend. Mr Lethaby added that the gelding maybe better suited to racing over a longer distance.
PRECIOUS SARA - raced wide early stages.
DONEGAL GILBERT - trainer B Hill was warned for presenting the gelding to race without the notified sliding blinds.
REGATTA - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
SILK - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 8   ULTIMATE BREEDING/FRESH CHOICE PACE
OLDE OAK EMMA - broke at the start hampering DANA DAWN.
ROZZANO - when spoken to regarding the improved performance, the connections advised that the mare had had no luck in its recent starts and was suited by the distance of today's race and racing on grass.
LINCOLN SKIPPER - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the Trainer's request.
RAINY RIVER - locked wheels with DONEGAL CARNBOUY leaving the final bend.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - held up final bend.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - raced wide early stages. Hung inwards final bend when weakening and locked wheels with RAINY RIVER.
MY NIKAYLA - held up final bend.
RAFA NOVAK - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DANA DAWN - hampered by breaking runner at the start.
Race 9   JOHNNY'S RESTAURANT MOBILE PACE
KANSAS CITY JIM - hung inwards near the 1100 metres and struck pylons.
MACHS MARETA - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
JAZELLE - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
ANAMAJOR - Driver T Williams advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners and sliding blinds in the run home due to having the field covered.
ISLA'S JOY - held up final bend.
MARTIN JOHN - weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance Trainer A Stuart advised that he was disappointed with the effort adding that today's race represented a rise in class from recent opposition.
Race 10   NGAIRE TOWNROW KAWATIRI CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
PATS DRAGON - weakened from the 500 metres. Driver G Smith advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
QUEENOFDANCE - hampered at the start. Badly held up passing the 500 metres.
JOHNNY EYRE - shifted inwards at the start hampering QUEENOFDANCE
ROCKNROLL MAX - badly held up passing the 500 metres
FYNN FROST - Driver K Cameron reported he did not activate the hopple shorteners on the gelding due to the horse pacing roughly on various occasions.
ROCKNROLL ROD - fractious prior to the start.
RAH DE RAH - was a late scratching on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
PAY ME VISA - Trainer A Stuart was warned for presenting the gelding late on to the track. Paced roughly near the 1400 metres.
Race 11   JENNIAN HOMES TEAM TEAL LADY DRIVERS' CHALLENGE MOB PACE
MARKHAM EYRE - Driver S Diamant reported that she was unable to activate the sliding blinds.
MAURICE - raced wide throughout. Weakened from the 600 metres.
CHAL BE - raced wide early stages. Over-raced through the middle stages after being unsuccessful in obtaining the lead.
FUN IN THE DARK - held up early stages of the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 12   HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY MURRAY ACKLIN HANDICAP TROT
TAKE AFTER ME - when spoken to regarding the improved performance the connections advised the gelding had appreciated the grass track and received a favourable run throughout.
BRIGHT GLOW - held up early stages of the run home
MICHELLE - held up early stages of the run home.
ROCKNPOP - held up for the majority of the home straight.
OVERZEALOUS - broke shortly after the start.
