KEN'S DREAM - broke racing into the first bend. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 500 metres. Broke briefly near the 150 metres.
QUEEN ELIDA - broke at the start.
MR OLYMPUS - broke near the 1700 metres losing all chance.
PETRONELLI GEE - broke near the 500 metres hampering KEN'S DREAM.
TROT BLACK - broke near the 1500 metres losing all chance.
MAKE MY SUNDON - broke at the start.
ROBO TROUBLE - broke at the start.
Race 2   STU CAMPBELL COOKRIGHT MOBILE PACE
FANCY SCHMANCY - weakened on the final bend inconveniencing the trailing PAUL'S VERDICT, MAGNETIC WATCH and GOMEO DENARIO. Driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation for the mare's performance with a subsequent Veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities.
GOMEO DENARIO -inconvenienced by a tiring runner near the 250 metres. Held up middle stages of the home straight.
WEE RING THE CHANGES - raced wide from the 600 metres.
ROYAL JESTER - held up final bend having to shift ground inwards near the 100 metres to obtain clear racing room.
PLAYBOY PRINCE - raced wide in the early stages.
PAUL'S VERDICT - inconvenienced by a tiring runner near the 250 metres.
MAGNETIC WATCH - inconvenienced by a tiring runner near the 250 metres.
VIGOROSO - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up final bend. Driver W D O'Connell was issued a Minor Infringement notice under Rule 864(2)(e) in that he failed to activate the removable deafeners when it was reasonable for him to do so being fined $200. Was removed from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 3   GLAMOUR HOOVES / HOFFMAN RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE
MISS IVY - lay inwards striking a track marker near the 1200 metres.
MICKEY FITZ - raced wide in the early stages. Tired from the final bend.
SWEET ANNIE - held up in the middle stages of the run home.
MANON THE RUN - hung inwards shortly after the start. Over-raced at various stages throughout the running. Held up near the 200 metres.
Trainer C Harrison advised Stewards on 10 March that OLIVER NORTH was suffering from a viral infection which is being treated and it is his intention to return to the Trials prior to resuming.
Race 4   OTAGO HUNT INC / E T BEATTIE & SONS MOBILE PACE
ULTIMATE SWIFT - hung inwards rounding the final bend striking several track markers. Continued to lay inwards in the early stages of the home straight.
K MACH - gave ground from the 600 metres hampering SMOKIN ANNIE and KENNINGTON GIRL.
SMOKIN ANNIE - broke in the early stages of the score up and was slightly out of position at the start. Hampered by tiring runner near the 500 metres.
ATTACHE - raced wide in the early stages.
KENNINGTON GIRL - hung inwards and broke racing into the first bend striking track markers hampering the trailing REAL CHANGE and MACH O'MELLEY. Again hung inwards near the 900 metres striking markers. The connections were advised the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion.
Race 5   FREDS FENCING TROT
The start of this race was delayed when MATAI JETSTAR became fractious and breasted the tape.
MISS JESSICA - momentarily placed in restricted room racing into the first bend by SUNNIVUE PHILEAH.
PAT THE MONKEY - broke shortly after the start.
SUNNIVUE PHILEAH - hung inwards racing into the first bend placing MISS JESSICA in restricted room momentarily. Broke briefly near the 400 metres. Again broke passing the 200 metres. Driver S Ottley reported that the mare had knuckled over passing the 400 metres.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
DREAM OF PAT - broke after 200 metres. Weakened from the 700 metres.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke near the 1100 metres.
DEBORAHS GEM - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
MICKEY JAY - paced at the start and then broke. Hampered by a breaking runner shortly after, switching into a pace again and having to be returned to its correct gait by Driver C Ferguson losing its chance.
Race 6   ARROWTOWN BAKERY PACE
ATARAH - broke at the start shifting outwards hampering OFFTHEBENCH and SANTERIA with OFFTHEBENCH breaking. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
THE CONQUEROR - held up for clear racing room in the home straight until the latter stages. Authorisation of dividends were withheld until Driver M Williamson had viewed the replays of the home straight. After viewing the replays Mr Williamson elected not to proceed with a protest against the 2nd placed PRESS PLAY.
PRESS PLAY - lay inwards near the 250 metres dictating ALL MONEY into the passing lane. As a result THE CONQUEROR was denied the opportunity to utilise the passing lane. Again shifted inwards placing ALL MONEY in restricted room near the 75 metres. Driver T Chmiel admitted a charge under Rule 869(4) in that he failed to take all steps to maintain a straight course in the home straight causing interference. After viewing films and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Chmiel the JCA suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing on the 8th of March up to and including the 12th of March also being fined the sum of $200.
HANDSOME HARRY - raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages.
OFFTHEBENCH - broke near the 400 metres. A warning was placed on the geldings racing record.
SANTERIA - hampered by ATARAH at the start.
Race 7   GOLDEN FLEECE HOTEL MOBILE PACE
AVEROSS RUSTLER - broke in the middle stages of the score up making contact with the mobile barrier arm however was in position at the start. Broke near the 900 metres hampering GABBY'S STAR and BRANTLEY. Driver R McIlwrick reported he would be recommending gear changes be made to the gelding for future events.
OHOKA CHOPPER - over-raced in the score up making contact with the mobile barrier arm. Tired from the 500 metres.
BRANTLEY - held up near the 500 metres.
GABBY'S STAR - held up by tiring runner near the 450 metres.
Race 8   STRATH TAIERI A&P / STRATH TAIERI YFC PACE
ALLANDALE - broke at the start. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
COOLHAND EASTON - was fractious prior to the start and just prior to the start the off-side rein was caught in the Martingale Ring. Driver J Cox wished to view the replays of the start to ascertain whether he was denied a fair start. After viewing the replays and hearing from Mr Cox, Stewards declared the gelding to be a non-runner acting under Rule 213(1)(j).
TRIROYALE BRIGADE - held up in the early stages of the run home.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - broke at the start.
Race 9   AITKEN FAMILY HANDICAP TROT
HAWAIIAN HULA - hampered by a tiring runner near the 700 metres.
DA MOONS MISSION - broke at the start. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - hampered by a tiring runner near the 700 metres.
ZONED SCARLETT - tired from the 700 metres hampering HAWAIIAN HULA and SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Williamson could offer no tangible reason for the mare's performance. Stewards requested a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
LAURA BUSH - broke shortly after the start.
VALLEY STAR - lay outwards over the concluding stages.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - broke near the 2000 metres with a warning placed on the gelding's racing record.
KIWI CRUSHER - over-raced in the middle stages. Driver M Hurrell advised the mare had been striking a knee on the bends.
Race 10   TRAINOR ELECTRICAL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
CHAMPERS - hung outwards racing into the first bend. Held up over the concluding stages with Driver S Ottley reporting she did not activate the removable deafeners due to this.
MYRCELLA - paced roughly and broke racing into the first bend having to be shifted wider.
ROSINUPTHEBOW - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up over the concluding stages.
Race 11   PRO-FIT COVERS / MARTY DENTON MOBILE PACE
HOKURI PLATTER - weakened from the 400 metres.
FREDDIESAM - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
POCKET WATCH - hung inwards and proved difficult to steer rounding the final bend.
