Race 1   WHAT THE HILL@WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE TROT
HAKA PRIDE - broke in the score up and trailed the field throughout.
MACKALI - contacted several track markers entering the home straight when in restricted room.
HELGA'S MONARCH - broke at the crossing near the 1500 metres but soon settled. Lay in near the 400 metres placing an inside runner in restricted room.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - back a length at dispatch. Broke near the 800 metres losing its chance.
Race 2   TIGER TOWN TREASURE TROVE MOBILE TROT
BELMONT'S GREATEST - pulled hard in the score up. Broke briefly at the start. Unsuccessfully contested for the lead before being eased to trail from the 1100 metres. Gave ground from the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 3   SPORTYS BAR-CAFE/PELORUS TRUST MOBILE PACE
BLAZING SPEED - Driver J Abernerthy admitted a charge under Rule 869 (2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use of the Whip' Regulations. The JCA imposed a fine of $200.
CLASS REBEL - over-raced when being restrained to take the trail approaching the 1,200 metres. Held up final turn with the saddlecloth number coming adrift shortly after.
KATCHING STARS - lay outwards over the latter stages of score up.
SHEZA HONEY - out of position at the start. When questioned Driver N Chilcott stated that she had been mindful of KATCHING STARS laying out to her inside. Stewards accepted Ms Chilcott's explanation.
HEY GOOD LOOKIN - restrained early from its wide barrier. Improved three wide with cover from the 600 metres but only battled in the run home to finish in sixth place beaten by 8.1 lengths. Driver D Butcher could offer no explanation for the performance other than the mare lacked high speed.
SUNHI MAGIC - broke briefly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at dispatch. Was taken forward three wide to lead near the 800 metres. Driver B Orange was cautioned for allowing the gelding to contact several track markers entering the home straight.
Race 4   TELFER YOUNG VALUERS MOBILE PACE
BETANCOURT - held up early in the run home when disappointed for a run to the inside of CARSE O FERN CULLY in the passing lane. Continued to have some difficulty in gaining clear running until near the 50 metres. Driver B Orange advised that he pulled a flat tyre from the middle stages of the run home after the tube deflated.
MOANA - broke in the score up losing considerable ground before catching the field near the 1,200 metres. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners.
Race 5   TARANAKI ASSOCIATED CLEANERS MOBILE PACE
UNCLE DREW - broke racing over the crossing near the 1,500 metres when leading inconceniencing an outside runner. Was then taken forward to race outside the leader near the 800 metres.
J BEE - raced four back on the markers and failed to run on finishing at the rear. A post ace veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver D Butcher advised that the gelding was probably feeling the effects of recent racing.
PETER FORSBERG - over-raced when being restrained early.
FORWARDY - tired from the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild lameness in the right hind.
ONEDIN PUNTER - inconvenienced briefly near the 1,550 metres.
CHANGEAROUND - inconvenienced by a breaking runner approaching the 1,400 metres before improving to lead. Junior Driver D Ferguson was cautioned for allowing his gelding to contact several track markers near the 400 metres.
OHOKA BANDIT - shifted ground near the 1,550 metres briefly inconveniencing an outside runner.
Race 6   REVITAL FERTILISERS TARANAKI CUP (MOBILE PACE)
BUGALUGS - held up briefly early in the run home.
RAKE - lay in contacting several track markers near the 1,900 metres.
OUR WICKLOW - lay in contacting several track markers entering the home straight.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - had to be steadied and taken back up the track after unsuccessfully attempting to shift down to trail the leader near the 1,800 metres. Raced without cover throughout and weakened from the 300 metres.
IMAJOLLYWALLY - weakened run home.
Race 7   ASURE SADDLE & SULKY MOBILE PACE
DAMETORO - broke racing over the crossing near the 1,500 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
EDAMFAST - inconvenienced by a breaking runner inside the 1,500 metres.
JIVE - lay out during the score up and was back a length at dispatch. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner inside the 1,500 metres.
MATAI MINKY - inconvenienced by a breaking runner inside the 1,500 metres.
SONNY REACTOR - over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   WOODLANDS STUD TARANAKI BREEDERS STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
A false start was declared when THE BLUE BEAT broke early in the score up and was unable to take up its position on the mobile due to the second line runners.
ARTFILLY CRAFTED - over-raced middle stages. Lay in rounding the final bend and gave ground to finish at the rear.
CLASSEY ROBIN - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained.
THE BLUE BEAT - raced three wide early.
PORT DELIGHT - raced three-wide with cover from the 1,050 metres.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - raced three-wide with cover from the 1,050 metres.
REVVING - raced three wide early before briefly taking a position in the one out running line. Raced three wide without cover from the 1,100 metres.
SWEET MAGGIE RYAN - had difficulty obtaining clear running at various stages of the home straight.
GLADAMARE - raced three wide early before being improved to lead passing the 1,100 metres.
Race 9   ROSS GRAHAM MOTORS MOBILE PACE
WAINGARO MARA - unable to obtain clear running early in the run home before being shifted wide on the track to improve approaching the 100 metres.
DRUM WITHERS - inconvenienced on the final turn by a weakening runner and then gave ground to finish at the rear. It was subsequently established that this runner's saddle had shifted during the running after a clip on the breastplate came adrift, which placed Driver A Poutama at some disadvantage. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory order with no further action deemed necessary.
BEAUDIENE EMERALD - raced three wide early. Weakened final turn.
