Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Stewards showed leniency when assessing horse penalties for the racing today due to the high winds encountered.

Stewards held several discussions with starter Mr B Ward during the course of the day due to the inconsistent speeds of the mobile start.

Race 7 - PICK & SHOVEL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
The connections of IDEOLOGIST advised Stewards on 21 February that blood tests taken following its disappointing performance at Oamaru last week revealed no abnormalities adding that the gelding will be driven with cover in upcoming races should circumstances permit.

Race 1   ZILCO PRODUCTS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
KENNINGTON GIRL - broke briefly near the 1400 metres when there was a slight easing of the pace, severely checking SMOKIN ANNIE, BUB'S VC and SWEET CHILLI. A warning was placed on the racing record of KENNINGTON GIRL. Lay inwards rounding the bend by the 900 metres.
ARIZONA DOLL - over-raced in the middle stages.
BUB'S VC - severely checked near the 1400 metres.
SMOKIN ANNIE - raced wide in the early stages. Severely checked near the 1400 metres.
MILLWOOD CLEOPATRA - paced roughly for a distance shortly after the start. Over-raced and lay outwards near the 1600 metres.
CHANGE UP DULC - broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
SWEET CHILLI - severely checked near the 1400 metres then broke and fell to the track near the 1300 metres. Junior driver K McNaught was uninjured in this incident. A Veterinary examination of SWEET CHILLI revealed some superficial abrasions.
Race 2   ILT RACEDAY 1ST MARCH MOBILE PACE
MYRCELLA - awkwardly positioned on the back of PICK SIX TELF passing the 500 metres, having to be steadied. Held up leaving the final bend.
PICK SIX TELF - lay outwards and briefly paced roughly passing the 500 metres.
MIGHTY GEORGE - lay inwards on various occasions in the home straight.
DISMARA - retired from the race near the 1900 metres when the inside tyre came off the rim.
THE WHITE RABBIT - briefly locked wheels with BETTER GALLEON near the 600 metres.
LOCK IT IN EDDIE - raced three-wide for the first lap until reaching the parked position. Weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson advised the gelding had done too much work in the early and middle stages and this had taken its toll.
STAY ABOARD - held up leaving the final bend.
BETTER GALLEON Briefly locked wheels with THE WHITE RABBIT near the 600 metres.
FRANCO RIOT - broke in the score-up however recovered to take up its allotted barrier position at the start. Raced wide in the early stages.
MAGNETIC WATCH - broke near the 1400 metres losing its chance.
DELIGHT - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 3   ANDOVER HALL AT NEVELE R STUD TROT
REGAL GLIDE - stood on the mark as the tapes were released then broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the entire. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed superficial cuts to both hind limbs consistent with the entire cross firing during the running.
MR OLYMPUS - hampered and broke passing the 1700 metres. Again broke near the 750 metres.
MY MOMENT'S NOW - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards confirmed the filly had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
BRANDY AND DRY - briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 500 metres.
ANDOVER THE KEYS - broke when leading near the 1700 metres, shifting up the track and checking the trailing MR OLYMPUS which broke in consequence. Had to be restrained passing the 1000 metres when placed in tight quarters by SLAINTE. Again broke near the 350 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
SLAINTE - broke shortly after the start. Driver B Williamson was warned for the manner he drove passing the 1100 metres when shifting down into the trailing position when insufficiently clear of ANDOVER THE KEYS. Again broke near the 500 metres.
BONNIES DELIGHT - broke when racing in the trail near the 1100 metres. Authorisation of 5th placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
KIWI HEIR - broke passing the 1500 metres. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next.
Race 4   INVERCARGILL WORKOUTS MOBILE PACE
THE NAENAE EXPRESS - broke in the score-up and was several lengths out of position at the dispatch. Will now be drawn Unruly for future mobile start engagements.
BATTLE AXE - hung inwards rounding the final bend contacting track markers.
SLY TRICKS - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700 metres.
MR JINGLES - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the dispatch. Paced roughly and lost contact with the body of the field near the 1800 metres. Again paced roughly near the 1300 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
REAL CHANGE - weakened from the 700 metres hampering SLY TRICKS and DELIGHT N GOLD.
DELIGHT N GOLD - placed in tight quarters when hampered by a tiring runner near the 700 metres, making contact with the sulky wheel of SLY TRICKS and briefly pacing roughly in consequence. Trainer/driver E Swain reported that the gelding was proving difficult to steer and he would be making gear alterations in an effort to rectify this.
Race 5   REGENT CAR COURT MOBILE PACE
DACHY - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
MIGHTY FLYING ART - weakened rounding the final bend.
PLEASE SHUDDUP - raced wide in the early stages.
LAWRENCE - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 6   DIAMONDS DAY 26TH APRIL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
CHEDDAR MADE BETA - placed in restricted room entering the first bend, contacting the sulky of HAZER and breaking in consequence hampering BOTTLE ROCK, with CHEDDAR MADE BETA losing considerable ground. Junior driver M Hurrell was warned for the manner he drove near the 600 metres.
THE NIGHT WATCHMAN - hung outwards late in the score-up hampering an outside runner.
LILAC BECKY - hampered by an inside runner and broke as the start was effected, losing considerable ground.
AIRWAVES - raced greenly passing the 1400 metres hampering trailing runners. Forced to race wider on the track passing the 1100 metres when HAZER shifted ground outwards. Weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BONNY'S GEM - shifted ground inwards entering the first bend placing insider runners in restricted room. Junior driver A Cameron assisted by senior horseman M Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly at this point. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a suspension of Miss Cameron's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing on the 23rd February up to and including the 1st March (3 days.) Hampered passing the 1400 metres with the sulky tyre being contacted by a trailing a runner, then retired from the race near the 1200 metres when the tyre came off the rim.
BOTTLE ROCK - badly hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
JACKS N JAZZ - broke early in the score-up and was several lengths out of position at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Placed in restricted room due to an easing of the pace passing the 1400 metres, then commenced to over-race, making contact with the sulky wheel of BONNY'S GEM.
HAZER - placed in tight quarters by BONNY'S GEM racing into the first bend, resulting in the sulky making contact with the legs of CHEDDAR MADE BETA. Junior driver T Larsen assisted by Mr K Larsen was shown the footage and warned for the manner he drove passing the 1100 metres when AIRWAVES was forced to race wider on the track. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of the lack of race day experience of junior driver T Larsen.
IDEAL GLACIER - hampered by a breaking runner as the start was effected. Held up rounding the final bend.
Race 7   ALL THINGS HARNESS OWNERSHIP MOBILE PACE
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - junior driver J Morrison reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.
HOLY HAVOC - over-raced in the middle stages.
VINTAGE ROSE - raced wide in the early stages.
DANGEROUS - forced wider on the track rounding the final bend.
BELLA SARA - raced wide in the early stages until obtaining the parked position passing the 1500 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
TARTAN TRILOGY - raced wide in the early stages until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1400 metres.
DEUS EX - raced wide in the early stages.
MAJOR MEISTER - briefly held up rounding the final bend.
DIAMOND PARTY - slow to leave the pre-race circle and was back at the start. Lost contact with the field for a short distance passing the 900 metres. When questioned regarding the performance junior driver A Cameron advised the filly had felt lethargic throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a high heart rate with a poor recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer M Purvis in the coming days.
Trainer M Purvis advised Stewards on 26 February that DIAMOND PARTY has been sent for a spell.
Race 8   MCKNIGHT & BROWN FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
ARCO - paced roughly in the score-up.
SCRITTORE - out of position at the start. Broke shortly after start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
BAILEYS DIAMOND - out of position at the start despite the efforts of junior driver E Barron.
Race 9   ALWAYS B MIKI STANDING AT ALABAR HANDICAP TROT
DIPENDRA - became entangled in the barrier tape resulting in a false start being declared. Broke at the start of the restart. Weakened rounding the final bend.
Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 9 March that CHINESE WHISPER has been treated for a virus since its last start and would continue with its current preparation.
Race 10   SOUTHLAND EXPRESS MOBILE PACE
THE IRISH LION - weakened badly from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing mild lameness in the near hind leg. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next.
ART PROFILE - paced keenly late in the score-up.
TINDER SURPRISE - broke briefly late in the score-up when baulking at the mobile arm, however was in its allotted barrier position at the dispatch. Lay inwards in the home straight.
LOVE ON THE ROCKS - broke briefly in the score-up and was several lengths out of position at the start. Will now be drawn Unruly for upcoming mobile start engagements.
JACCKA OLIVER - broke briefly in the middle stages of the score-up and was several lengths out of position at the start.
