Trainer M Purvis advised Stewards on 19 February that DIAMOND PARTY has been treated for mild anaemia since racing at Addington last Friday. Mr Purvis added that the filly has pleased him this week and will race at Invercargill on Friday without a pacifier. |

CLASSY KID - raced wide early stages. Driver A Lethaby reported that she carried a flat sulky tyre from the 1000 metres. Mrs Lethaby was questioned regarding the way in which she drove leading up to the incident where her tyre was punctured where she was observed to encourage her runner with the whip and reins prior to becoming awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of AROCKNATTHEPARK. Mrs Lethaby explained that she was in danger of being pushed out as the 1000 metres was approaching so improved rapidly to avoid this happening however had to steady soon after which caused an easing of the pace for the trailing JAFFA JOSH (P Borcoskie) . When questioned P Borcoskie advised that his runner had raced intractably throughout which had contributed to this incident so Stewards took the matter no further other than to note the circumstances. | |
JAZELLE - hung inwards final bend losing ground. Over-raced throughout. Driver J Dunn reported that because of this he did not have the opportunity to activate the mare's hopple shorteners. | |
JAFFA JOSH - trainer P Borcoskie was warned for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds. Hung outwards through the early stages causing driver P Borcoskie considerable difficulty. Broke near the 950 metres after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of CLASSY KID when over-racing and after a slight easing of the pace. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. Mr Borcoskie advised he would consider making gear changes prior to the gelding resuming. |

LUELLA - shifted inwards over the final stages and locked wheels with the improving MINI MINE YET (S O'Reilly) placed 2nd. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded alleging interference and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards, driver B Hope (assisted by J Dunn) and S O'Reilly (assisted by G O'Reilly) the JCA upheld the protest and relegated LUELLA to 2nd place. An associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) was lodged against B Hope with the matter adjourned to a later date. Stewards also opened an inquiry into the conduct of G Hope when assisting B Hope in this matter. | |
