Race 1   WED 4TH MARCH COMEDY QUIZ NIGHT AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY TROT
MAJESTIC STRIDE - broke at the start but soon settled. Pulled a flat tyre from near the 1700m when contacted by LITTLEBITOFLOVE after there was an easing of the pace in the one out running line. The tyre and tube came away from the rim near the 1600m placing the mare at a disadvantage.
GRENADO - reluctant to come forward and was back several lengths at dispatch. Weakened from inside the 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - slow away. Junior Driver J Cowden, assisted by S Abernethy, was shown the replay and cautioned for half carting briefly racing through the front straight the first time.
Race 2   WOODLANDS 2020 YEARLINGS-woodlandsstud.co.nz MOBILE PACE
SUMATIME KIWI - Co-trainers P&V Blanchard were cautioned for presenting the mare with deafeners which were not notified. Broke shortly after the start settling at the rear. Raced three wide without cover from inside the 1200m.
LADY BRITE - approval was given for the removal of the blinds due to the filly warming up unfavourably.
LADY AMEERA - broke near the 1500m after a middle carrier came adrift but soon settled. Trainer P Green (S Phelan as agent) was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for insecure gear.
PATAGONIAN PRINCESS - slow to come up into its unruly position and was back approximately 4 lengths at the start. Raced keenly throughout. Broke passing the 200m losing all chance.
Race 3   ARMSTRONG FAMILY MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - Trainer S Abernethy was cautioned for the late notification of the removal of the blinds. Broke shortly after the start and trailed the field throughout. The gelding was declared Unruly for future mobiles at the trainer's request.
JACKHAMMER JOE - Trainer M Salaivao was cautioned for the late notification of the removal of the blinds. Junior Driver N Delany, assisted by S Phelan, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under Clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations and was fined $200 by the JCA.
MR ASIA - lay in on numerous occasions and in particular on the final bend pacing roughly and losing ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
MCDAKNIFE - when questioned regarding the improved performance Driver A Poutama stated that the gelding had been unlucky in its recent racing and had been able to go forward from its front line draw today and set its own terms in front throughout.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN - paced roughly passing the 1350m losing ground. Broke passing the 250m losing all chance.
ALLONBLACK - broke early in the score up and was well out of position at the start before trailing the field throughout. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners record.
MIGHTY MONICA - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Race 4   THE ROTORUA CLUB MOBILE PACE
SAMPAN - shifted out and locked wheels with NORVIC ALPHA passing the 150m. Junior Driver T Hanara, assisted by S Phelan, was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which she drove in this incident.
WAINGARO IDEAL - Trainer N Chilcott was cautioned for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds.
NORVIC ALPHA - shifted out on straightening for the run home. Paced roughly and shifted in locking wheels with SAMPAN passing the 150m and then broke losing its chance.
GOUDA - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout.
PANSPACIFICJET - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
CLASS REBEL - held up early stages of the run home. Checked by a breaking runner inside the 150m.
Race 5   LASER PLUMBING TE PUKE MOBILE PACE
SABREUR - late scratching at 11.30am on Veterinary advice after getting down in the float en route to the course.
BROOKIES JAFFA - raced three wide until improving to sit outside the leader at the 1000m.
J BEE - trailed the leader and failed to run on from inside the 400m finishing well back. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
L L COOL J - raced three then four wide from the 800m.
Race 6   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS 2020 ROTORUA TROTTERS CUP (HCP)
FIRA - held up final turn.
GREY STOKE - broke inside the 1500m after racing off the crossing and galloped for the remainder despite the efforts of Driver A Poutama. Trainer L Edwards was advised that the gelding would be given one final chance to race truly and a repeat performance would see the gelding stood down for a period.
WESTY BOYZ - reared as the barriers were released and was slow to begin.
LUKYANOVA - trotted roughly then broke approaching the 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
GERSHWIN - broke approaching the 1000m and galloped a considerable distance before settling near the 700m. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record. A Protest against this runner's 5th placing was not contested by connections and the gelding was disqualified by the JCA.
Race 7   HIDDEN LAKE HOTEL & APARTMENTS MOBILE PACE
PETER FORSBERG - held up early final straight
VANHALEM - over-raced when being restrained after having been caught three wide early and was then taken forward to race outside the leader passing the 950m.
THE BLUE BEAT - raced three wide early.
COUNT LANDECK - held up on the final turn.
LINCOLN MOMENT - raced keenly middle stages.
Race 8   GARTSHORE GROUP 2020 ROTORUA PACERS CUP (HCP)
PEMBROOK CHARLIE - broke at the start and trailed the field.
COWGIRLS N ANGELS - held up rounding the final turn and raced over the marker peg at the entrance to the passing lane. Authorisation of this runner's second placing was withheld to enable Stewards to review the replays to ascertain whether there were grounds for Protest. After viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that an advantage had not been gained and placings were duly authorised. Junior Driver L Whittaker, assisted by S Phelan, admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(7A)(a)(b). After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $150.00.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - broke shortly after the start and trailed the field.
YOUNG CONQUEROR - broke at the start and settled at the rear.
Race 9   SEEKA KIWIFRUIT MOBILE PACE
DAMETORO - held up final turn.
BROOKE'S IMAGE - broke shortly after the start recovering to settle at the rear. Raced three wide from the 1100m.
MARIA KIRILENKO - held up final turn.
MATAI MINKY - Trainer S Dickson was cautioned for presenting the gelding without the notified deafeners. Held up rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home. Driver S Phelan reported that the sliding blinds failed to activate over the final stages.
CARSE O FERN TOM - raced three wide with cover from the 800m.
LYNTON CREEK - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
PORT DELIGHT - inconvenienced by a galloping runner shortly after the start.
Race 10   FEB 21ST LADIES NIGHT AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HCP TROT
MACARTHUR - slow away. Broke at the 700m losing its chance.
MOUNT ASPIRING - broke near the 1300m losing ground before settling. Broke again at the 800m losing its chance.
WISHING CRYSTAL - slow to begin. Broke entering the first turn losing its chance.
PEGASUS SPEED - broke passing the 2100m and trailed the field.
QUEEN OF STRATHFIELD - trotted roughly and then broke approaching the 220m but soon settled with MACKERELLI having to take evasive action. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Stewards were also of the opinion that there was not sufficient grounds for a Protest in relation to any interference received by the 4th placed MACKERELLI given the margin between these two runners at the finish.
MACKERELLI - had to take evasive action near the 175m losing some momentum. Junior Driver K Blakemore, assisted by M Hjalmarsson, was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which she drove in this incident.
MACKALI - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's standing start manners record.
