Race 1 - MLT THREE RIVERS HOTEL SPECIAL HANDICAP TROT
Trainer P Williamson advised Stewards on 22 January that MAJESTIC CONNIES has recovered well subsequent to its performance at Wyndham on 16 January adding that the gelding will most likely resume on the grass at Oamaru in mid-February.

Race 1   PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE
MAJOR MENACE - driver J Dunn reported he did not release the hopple shorteners applied due to the mare pacing fluently throughout.
VON ART - held up rounding the final bend.
WEREN'T WATCHING - lay outwards on various occasions during the running. Drifted up the track passing the 800 metres. Raced greenly and broke briefly passing the 400 metres. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the filly. Junior driver S Tomlinson reported she had some difficulty steering the filly throughout.
A ROCKNROLL MAID - broke racing into the first bend.
RAKANELLIE - raced fiercely then broke in the score-up however recovered to take up its rightful position at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Raced wide through the early stages and over-raced in the middle stages. Weakened rounding the final bend. Junior driver E Barron was issued a warning for the manner she drove passing the 600 metres when placing an inside runner in restricted room.
ARIZONA DOLL - placed in restricted room by an outside runner entering the final bend, contacting track markers.
KENNINGTON GIRL - moved away from the pre-race circle then broke early in the score-up, losing its chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver A Armour advised he would be recommending gear changes prior to KENNINGTON GIRL racing next.
MILLWOOD CLEOPATRA - lay inwards and paced roughly when improving forward passing the 900 metres.
JUST CHEDDAR - out of position at the start.
Race 2   SHEET METALCRAFT MOBILE PACE
LOVE ON THE ROCKS - raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the final bend and the latter stages of the home straight, then paced roughly and broke over the concluding stages when looking for clear racing room. Stewards questioned K Barclay regarding her decision to not shift into the passing lane at the top of the straight. Mrs Barclay explained that she felt the horse she was following, FORSURE, would take up the lane and leave her held up throughout. She added that once she had cleared the weakening SAINT TROPEZ thought a run would present on the outside however this had not eventuated. Stewards deemed her explanation to be reasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
MACH QUILLAN - paced roughly in the score-up. Raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages.
TARGARYEN - held up rounding the final bend.
WOMAN IN CHARGE - weakened from the 400 metres.
MR JINGLES - weakened rounding the final bend.
UNDER WRAPS - weakened rounding the final bend.
DELIGHT N GOLD - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 3   FORKLIFTS NZ MOBILE PACE
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - paced roughly briefly in the home straight.
MYRCELLA - raced three-wide throughout. Weakened rounding the final bend.
FRANCO JUNE - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened from the 300 metres.
DELIGHT - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend .
BLACK OPS - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide through the middle stages.
JACKS N JAZZ - paced roughly on various occasions during the running.
COOLHAND EASTON - the outside sulky wheel was contacted by THE WHITE RABBIT shortly after the start resulting in the tyre deflating and coming off the rim with the gelding being retired from the event.
THE WHITE RABBIT - shifted inwards shortly after the start and contacted the sulky wheel of COOLHAND EASTON. Driver K Larsen admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when allowing his runner to strike a sulky wheel. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Larsen's licence to drive from the 31st January up to and including the 8th February (2 days) and a fine of $150.
Race 4   PURE PAC CHERRIES MOBILE PACE
STRATOFORTRESS - lay outwards racing into the first bend. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 200 metres.
MISS PADDY WAGON - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 200 metres.
MELODY'S MISCHIEF - held up rounding the final bend.
VIGOROSO - over-raced then paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile start engagements. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 200 metres.
LOCK IT IN EDDIE - over-raced in the middle stages. Driver A Beck reported he did not release the hopple shorteners applied due to the gelding pacing roughly.
REVITALISE - shifted down the track abruptly entering the home straight, checking MAJOR WATSON which in turn hampered a number of runners. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
DALLAS GRIMES - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
TETRICK - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 200 metres.
MAJOR WATSON - badly checked early in the home straight.
Following the running of this event the official track conditions were upgraded to Good.
Race 5   ALL THINGS HARNESS OWNERSHIP TROT
RYDGEMONT MILLY - slow to begin.
COUNT EYRE - broke passing the 200 metres.
TOLKIEN - broke just prior to the finish line. Authorisation of 1st placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained ground when in a break, had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations and was not lapped on by any other runner.
MIDSUMMER QUEEN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend.
CHRISTMAS BABE - trotted roughly on various occasions during the running.
LISA MARIE P - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend.
ALPINE RETREAT - broke leaving the first bend losing its chance and eventually being retired from the event.
Race 6   ARDEN LODGE ROBIN DUNDEE CROWN (MOBILE PACE)
LADY'S LASS - paced roughly throughout. Weakened badly from the 1000 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery and lameness to the right fore leg. The connections were advised that the mare requires a Veterinary clearance before racing again.
BRIDESDALE ROBYN - hung outwards in the score-up, briefly locking wheels with I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE before breaking and losing considerable ground. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Briefly held up rounding the final bend.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - briefly locked wheels with BRIDESDALE ROBYN in the score-up.
Race 7   BRENDAN FRANKS FARRIER/FASTTRACK $2.5K ADDED STAKES HCP TROT
CRUSHER COLLINS - broke negotiating the first bend. Authorisation of 5th placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
ONLY ONE WAY - broke passing the 2300 metres. Trotted roughly on various occasions during the running. When spoken to regarding the performance driver M Williamson could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer P Williamson in the coming days.
KING CASSIDY - trotted roughly on various occasions during the running.
THEODOSIA - broke passing the 1600 metres losing its chance and being retired from the event shortly after. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the left fore leg, with connections advised that a Veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
Race 8   MCKNIGHT & BROWN HANDICAP PACE
ASK ME MAJOR - tangled away. Paced roughly entering the first bend.
CHUCKLES - over-raced in the middle stages. Briefly held up by a tiring runner near the 400 metres then paced roughly when trying to extricate off its back. Lay inwards throughout the home straight.
DANGEROUS - held up rounding the final bend.
IVANA LEGACY - held up rounding the final bend. Briefly locked wheels with CAST A SHADOW passing the 100 metres. Unable to obtain clear racing room over the latter stages of the home straight.
TRIROYALE BRIGADE - lay inwards on the bend near the 2300 metres contacting track markers.
TARTAN ROBYN - paced roughly through the middle stages.
MISTACULLECT - briefly hampered rounding the final bend when forced wider on the track.
SHADOW PHANTASY - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley expressed disappointment however noted the gelding had been difficult to steer and she would be recommending gear changes prior to SHADOW PHANTASY racing next. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a cardiovascular tachycardia. Stewards will follow up the recovery with connections in the coming days.
CAST A SHADOW - briefly locked wheels with IVANA LEGACY passing the 100 metres. Driver A Beck was reminded of his obligations to maintain as straight a course as possible in the home straight.
Race 9   ASCOT PARK HOTEL INVERCARGILL CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
KILOWATT KID - broke briefly at the start.
CAST NO SHADOW - broke briefly at the start and then again shortly afterwards.
HEISENBERG - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages. Lay outwards throughout the home straight.
NANDOLO - Boring Pole was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Broke at the start.
BRINGITONHOME - broke briefly at the start. Hung outwards rounding the bends. Weakened from the 500 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer R Todd in the coming days.
VINTAGE CHEDDAR - tangled away. Paced roughly in the early stages.
Race 10   PENINSULAR BEACHFRONT RESORT/BEACH RD HOLIDAY PARK MOB PACE
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - lay inwards rounding the bend near the 800 metres contacting track markers. Weakened and paced roughly from the 500 metres.
MACH'S BACK - lay inwards on the final bend contacting several track markers.
DEUS EX - over-raced in the middle stages.
UNLOADED - raced wide entering the first bend before being restrained to the rear to obtain cover passing the 1700 metres.
