Trainer J Curtin advised Stewards on 17 January that TANGO TARA has been sent for a spell due to being diagnosed with a pedal bone injury after competing at Reefton on 30 December.

Driver B Weaver (LA BELLA VITA) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 700 metres by shifting inwards when insufficiently clear of KAYLA MAGUIRE which was checked. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Weaver's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 31 January 2020 (3 days).

GRAND PRINCESS - paced racing into the first bend and had to be checked into a break by its driver losing all chance.
SODS LAW - driver J Geddes admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and was fined $200 by the JCA.
ALI LINDENNY - held up early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer D Thompson advised that he had been jogging the horse on a more regular basis since its last start on Friday in an attempt to relieve the tie up issues that the mare had been suffering. Mr Thompson added that the mare races best when able to be driven with a sit which was possible today.
MY EYRE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Lay inwards throughout the home straight.
PACINO - late scratching on veterinary advice due to suffering from colic.
BRIGHT GLOW - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Lay inwards throughout the home straight.
Race 4   WINEWORKS MARLBOROUGH MOBILE PACE
CROSSO'S CULLECT - broke near the 1100 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Driver C Thornley advised he would be recommending a horse dentist examine the mare in the coming days after the horse had skied its head on several occasions during the running.
SA FACT - raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
KRYSTAL DELIGHT - held up early stages of the run home.
GENELIS - the rein pole was removed prior to the horse leaving the birdcage due to becoming fractious.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS - raced wide in the early stages. Held up early stages of the run home. Paced roughly inside the final 100 metres and was unable to be driven out.
MYANMAR PRINCE - held up final bend.
LEI MISS - raced wide early and middle stages.
SCOTLYNN BEACH BOY - raced wide in the early stages. Held up early stages of the run home. Lay outwards in the home straight.
POCKET ROCKNROLL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100 metres.

J R BROMAC - raced greenly passing the 1100 metres causing a slight easing of the pace hampering trailing runners.
PERAKI SEELSTER - hung outwards racing into the first bend causing driver T Williams some difficulty. Continued to hang outwards through the back straight.

Race 5   ECKFORD ENGINEERING 2002 LTD MOBILE PACE
SAGINAW - paced roughly leaving the pre-race formation and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Again paced roughly rounding the final bend and in the home straight. Trainer/driver R Cameron advised that in his opinion the gelding had failed to back up from its first day run. Mr Cameron added he would have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and would notify Stewards of the results.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - over-raced through the middle stages.
KANSAS CITY JIM - held up final bend and until late in the run home. Driver R McIlwrick reported that his sulky tyre deflated during the running.
THATS BETTOR - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
CANARDLY REMEMBER - paced roughly in the score up and was back slightly at the start.
SHEZSOMETHINSPECIAL - broke briefly when racing wide into the first bend.

Race 8   2020 WATERLEA CENTENARY MARLBOROUGH CUP (HCP PACE)
JENORA - broke at the start. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
HOMEBUSH LAD - driver B Hope reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
ROCKNROLL ROD - fractious prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over raced throughout. Paced roughly and shifted outwards abruptly leaving the final bend. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion. Trainer K Austin advised the horse would be sent for a brief spell prior to resuming.
DADNDAVE - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
THAT ALEXANDER GUY - tangled away. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.

MORDECAI - junior driver K Tomlinson (assisted by R McIlwrick) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Miss Tomlinson's junior driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 19 January up to and including 26 January 2020 (3 days).
