Race 8 - MACCA LODGE SOUTHERN BELLE SPEED SERIES (HT2) MOBILE PACE
Trainer J Stiven advised Stewards on 9 January that blood tests taken from COUNTESS OF ARDEN subsequent to its disappointing performance at Winton last week showed no abnormalities with Mr Stiven adding that the mare has worked pleasingly in preparation for today.

Race 1   OMALASS DRIED MOLASSES MOBILE PACE
FLASH PARTY - held up over the concluding stages.
MAGNETIC WATCH - had to be steadied for a short distance near the 200 metres when racing in restricted room.
LITE PERCUSSION - hampered by an outside runner in the score-up and broke in consequence. Over-raced in the middle stages.
DARK RAGE - hung inwards in the early stages checking LITE PERCUSSION. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced through the early stages. Held up by a tiring runner near the 500 metres, losing ground.
SWIFT ROBYN - raced wide through the early stages. Weakened from the 500 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of having a viral infection with a follow up examination scheduled for the coming days.
THE WHITE RABBIT - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Larsen. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Larsen reported he had been disappointed however could offer no tangible explanation, adding the horse had recovered well.
TARTAN ROBYN - held up entering the home straight.
VIGOROSO - paced roughly near the 1200 metres.
AIRWAVES - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Hung outwards throughout.
Race 2   WILLY'S FLOORING/PHILLIPS HORSE TRANSPORT TROT
REGAL GLIDE - bounded at the start then broke losing considerable ground. Again broke near the 1700 metres.
TOMMY TIDDLER - broke after 200 metres.
TEASE MY TARTAN - Driver N Williamson was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner he addressed the standing start barrier strand.
KING OF THE NORTH - trainer K Larsen was warned when presenting this runner in the incorrect gear, namely removable deafeners.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - trotted roughly through the middle stages. Broke near the 1400 metres and was eventually retired from the race.
SLAINTE - broke at the start. Again broke passing the 200 metres. Driver M Williamson was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner he addressed the standing start barrier strand.
KIWI HEIR - weakened from the 500 metres. Broke passing the 300 metres.
Race 3   SHANE MATHESON CRUTCHING MOBILE PACE
DELIGHTFUL GLORIA - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
DON'T NEED AN EXCUSE - broke just prior to the 50 metres and continued in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a Protest against 3rd placing being awarded alleging DON'T NEED AN EXCUSE had breached the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres. Connections did not contest the Protest. After viewing relevant replays the JCA upheld the Protest and disqualified DON'T NEED AN EXCUSE from 3rd placing.
THE MIGHTY CULLEN - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start.
A ROCKNROLL MAID - paced roughly through the early stages.
RACING MINISTER - paced roughly on various occasions during the running.
SUNSET RED - broke passing the 1300 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
Race 4   SBS RURAL/STEWART ISLAND FLIGHTS MOBILE PACE
DAME'S MAC - lay inwards on the final bend striking track markers.
VON ART - had to be momentarily steadied near the 50 metres when briefly placed in restricted room.
I HAD A DREAM - raced wide rounding the first bend.
IT'S MY OPINION - weakened rounding the final bend.
MAJOR MEISTER - raced wide through the early stages.
UNDER WRAPS - out of position at the start. Driver J Cox reported the colt had hung and paced roughly in the score-up.
THE INTERCEPTOR - raced fiercely throughout and paced roughly on various occasions causing driver B Barclay some difficulty. Weakened rounding the final bend.
Race 5   'FEAR THE DRAGON' AT MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE
TETRICK - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver B McLellan advised the gelding had been racing well from second line draws and had benefited from being able to race in front today.
CARLO GAMBINO - over-raced in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Ferguson expressed disappointment however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
VON RICHTHOFEN - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened from the 700 metres.
DREAMINSOVER - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 5.27 pm after being found to be lame in the right hind leg at the start assembly area. Connections were advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing next.
STAR RULER - hung inwards passing the 800 metres.
Race 6   KUBALA SEEDS NUGGET FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
I'M WATCHING YOU - raced wide in the early stages. Held up until the final stages of the home straight with driver M Williamson advising that due to this he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
PICK SIX TELF - held up rounding the final bend.
FOLKLORE - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver J Cox advised the mare had previously on occasion, and without reason, raced well below expectation and that todays efforts had been similar to those. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
MOONLITE DRIVE - over-raced near the 1800 metres and paced roughly.
SWELL TIME - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages.
DELIGHTFUL GNP - broke in the score-up however recovered to take up its allotted barrier position. Raced fiercely in the early stages causing junior driver E Barron some difficulty.
ITZ ALLDOWN TO LUCK - hung inwards and broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide in the early stages.
Race 7   ELITE RACING STABLES/GORDON SUTHERLAND MEMORIAL HCP TROT
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
RYDGEMONT MILLY - broke at the start.
SAGE TROUBLE - trotted roughly throughout the race.
CRUSHER COLLINS - stood on the mark before bounding away and breaking for some distance. Again broke rounding the first bend.
ONLY ONE WAY - trotted roughly passing the 1400 metres when challenging for the lead. Despite the efforts of driver M Williamson was reluctant to cross to the front on two occasions in the middle stages. Weakened from the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the gelding had been unsuited to having to work in the open through the middle stages and this combined with having trotted roughly on the bends had lead to the disappointing performance.
Race 8   TIP TOP MEMPHIS MELTDOWN/NIGHT N' DAY MOBILE PACE
LOVE THE BLUES - paced roughly entering the first bend. Hung outwards throughout the race. Held up rounding the final bend by the weakening OLIVE COOK, then shifted inwards prior to the commencement of the Passing Lane and raced inside a track marker. Stewards lodged a Protest against 1st placing being awarded alleging LOVE THE BLUES had gained a run earlier to than it was entitled when racing inside a track marker leaving the final bend and therefore gained an advantage. After viewing relevant replays and hearing evidence from the Stewards and Mr R Swain the JCA upheld the Protest and disqualified LOVE THE BLUES from 1st placing. In assessing the culpability of Mr R Swain Stewards gave consideration to his horse over-racing and the fact the horse he was following shifted outwards causing him further difficulty and so took no action against him. When questioned regarding the improved performance Mr R Swain advised the gelding had received a more economical trip today with cover than at its previous start when LOVE THE BLUES had raced wide.
VINTAGE ROSE - the over-check applied to the mare came adrift during the running. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer R Gutsell advised today was a drop back in class and the mare had also benefited from the increase in distance. Mr Gutsell added he was not surprised by the performance.
IDEAL GLACIER - weakened from the 500 metres.
JIMMY RICHTER - raced without front shoes.
WOMAN IN GOLD - Driver S O'Reilly explained that she had been advised the horse races best when able to be driven with a sit and so had adopted those tactics from the second line draw. She added that despite being held up in the final bend she had been disappointed with the horse when asked for an effort in the final straight. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days.
Race 9   VET SOUTH EQUINE SOUTHERN BELLE (HEAT 3) MOBILE PACE
There was a delay of 15 minutes to the start of this race due to the Protest in the previous race.
YANKEE PARTY - broke briefly at the dispatch losing ground and hampered TEAM KIWI.
IVANA LEGACY - paced roughly in the early stages after shifting outwards to avoid YANKEE PARTY, having to be steadied in consequence.
TEAM KIWI - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Race 10   HOUSE OF TRAVEL LAKERS SUMMER CUP (MOBILE PACE)
THE MAROON MARAUDER - paced roughly shortly after the start. Over-raced in the parked position in the middle stages. Again paced roughly rounding the final bend.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
UNLOADED - broke in the score-up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
KILOWATT KID - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SWAMP MAJOR - broke racing into the first bend.
BETTATHANFAST - raced wide in the early stages.
FRANCO SANTINO - raced wide into the first bend.
Race 11   MOSSDALE RACING MOBILE PACE
CAST A SHADOW - lay inwards on the final bend and struck pylons.
MY GEORGIE BOY - out of position at the start.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - driver R McIlwrick was questioned regarding a perceived push out near the 1400 metres with the matter adjourned to a later date.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - hung inwards rounding the first bend.
DIEGO - hampered by MY GEORGIE BOY in the score-up and was back slightly at the start.
AMERICAN MAC - out of position at the start.
CHUCKLES - co-trainer K Barclay was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 when presenting this runner in gear not notified. Lay inwards throughout the final straight with K Barclay reporting the gelding had proved difficult to steer throughout.
