Trainer R Dunn advised Stewards on 5 January that SPELLBOUND was found to be suffering from a virus subsequent to its run on 31 December and will now return to its Canterbury base.

Race 1   MOVENPICK @ CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE
BANNER OF ART - gave ground from inside the final 900m inconveniencing trailing runners to finish distanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the near fore fetlock. The gelding was stood down pending a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to resuming. Trainer I Brownlee was cautioned for presenting the gelding without the notified blind.
CLIFTON FLUTTER - inconvenienced by a tiring runner inside the final 900m.
VENETO - lay out rounding the final turn and shifted wider on the track early in the run home.
M T POCKETS - Driver S Wigg admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted over the final 400m. The JCA imposed a fine of $200.00
MARIA KIRILENKO - held up for several strides early in the run home.
THE BATMOBILE - weakened out from inside the final 300m.
Race 2   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS TROT
THE LAST GAMBLE - held up rounding the final turn.
ALDEBARAN BONNY - trotted roughly passing the 200m and had to be steadied with Driver T Mitchell reporting that he had been unable to drive the gelding out fully as a result.
DANKE - broke shortly after the start losing ground and trailed the field.
PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL - inconvenienced briefly early in the run home.
PRETORIUS - stood on the mark checking another runner and took no serious part. The gelding was placed on the Unruly for future stands.
TOPNOTCH TITAN - checked shortly after the start losing considerable ground before breaking and trailing the field.
RAVE NATION - removed from the Unruly for future Stands.
NATTY PAGGER - lay out early in the run home and shifted marginally wider on the track.
Race 3   PRINTECH MOBILE PACE
NORVIC ALPHA - restrained to the rear early and then lost contact with the body of the field for some distance. Inconvenienced by a tiring runner racing down the back the final time . Checked passing the 400m losing ground.
SAMPAN - raced three wide early before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1600m. Weakened out inside the final 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Trainer T Herlihy in coming days.
FLEETING MAJOR - raced three wide early and middle stages before obtaining a position one out in midfield.
RECKON IM SMART - Driver D Butcher admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly passing the 400m when shifting ground inwards when not sufficiently clear resulting in interference to NORVIC ALPHA. The JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Butcher's Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 11 January up to and including the 17th January 2020 (1 day) and also imposed a $200.00 fine.
Race 4   DOWNBYTHESEASIDE JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - commenced to weaken approaching the 600m to finish distanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance record.
MADAME CONNOISTRE - Co-Trainers J & J Dickie were issued a $100.00 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare with blinds that were not notified. Inconvenienced briefly by a tiring runner approaching the 600m.
DINA BROWN - raced three wide early before crossing to race outside the leader at the 1000m.
SABREUR - inconvenienced when taken back by a tiring runner leaving the back straight the final time.
Race 5   IRT YOUR HORSE OUR PASSION HANDICAP TROT
SAFRAKOVA - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
FIRA - held up final turn and early stage of the run home.
OUR SPITFIRE - broke at the start losing its chance.
LUKYANOVA - lay in under pressure throughout the run home.
Race 6   FARRIER SUPPLIES MOBILE PACE
SKY FULL OF STARS - lay in and paced roughly rounding the first bend. Broke passing the 1700m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners record.
MISS SHUGA - broke at the start and trailed the field. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners record.
SMOKEN SHAZZA - was taken forward in search of the lead passing the 1700m before being eased to race without cover. Raced keenly middle stages.
MANHATTAN SUNSHINE - held for clear racing room throughout the run home and as a result Driver J Abernethy did not activate the sliding blinds and deafeners.
MOZZARELLA - broke early in the score up and again prior to dispatch losing considerable ground before being retired from the event racing down the back straight the final time. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners record.
ARYA FAMOUS - inconvenienced by a breaking runner passing the 1700m. Weakened from inside the 700m to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abormality. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance record.
Race 7   HANLEY FORMULA MOBILE PACE
TURKISH TROUSERS - lay in rounding the final turn.
COOL AND CALCULATING - restrained to the rear early. Commenced to improve three wide near the 500m but was pushed four wide rounding the home turn and only battled to finish in 6th place beaten 9 lengths.
MIGHTY MONICA - held up rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home.
Race 8   FRIDAY NIGHT LADIES NIGHT FEB 21 MOBILE PACE
IM A DENNY TOO - broke rounding the first turn when racing to the inside of YOUNG CONQUEROR checking AFORTUNADO, COMIC BOOK HERO, and RACKETEERS BOY, which were all brought down, with driver M White being tipped from the sulky of MACH LITTLE SOAKY. BUGALUGS, ABOUT TURN and ARMED REACTOR were all badly checked in this incident with the race being stopped by Stewards and subsequently declared a no-race after the event could not be re-run without considerable delay. Drivers M White (MACH LITTLE SOAKY), T Macfarlane (COMIC BOOK HERO), D Butcher (RACKETEERS BOY) and J Abernethy (AFORTUNADO) were attended by St John Ambulance staff before being transported to hospital for assessment of various injuries. An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing the relative evidence of drivers S Phelan (YOUNG CONQUEROR) and T Cameron (IM A DENNY TOO) it was deemed neither driver or horse was solely responsible with no further action being taken. In considering the matter Stewards took into account that both horses had raced with their respective sulkies in contact for some strides prior to clearing with subsequent movement from both runners contributing to the incident.
MACH LITTLE SOAKY, YOUNG CONQUEROR and COMIC BOOK HERO underwent veterinary examinations and were found to have sustained various minor abrasions. RACKETEERS BOY required treatment from the Veterinarian for a laceration on the off shoulder.
The meeting was subsequently put back one race with the start of Race 10 rescheduled to start at 7.40pm.
Race 9   GRASS TRACK MEETING @ ROTORUA JAN 26TH MOBILE PACE
EAGLE WATCH - T Mitchell replaced the injured M White.
LYNTON CREEK - M McKendry replaced the injured D Butcher.
CLASSEY ROBIN - P Ferguson replaced the injured J Abernethy. Over-raced when being restrained to the rear early.
WAIHEKE WARRIOR - raced without cover throughout and commenced to give ground on the final turn to finish at the rear. When questioned Trainer A Donnelly advised that although slightly disappointing, the gelding had not been suited to racing without cover at this stage of its campaign in what was only its second raceday start.
Race 10   SEE YOU FLYING MILE NIGHT - JAN 10TH TROT
EXPENSIVE CRUMPET - slow early losing considerable ground before catching the field. Checked and broke at the 350m losing its chance.
SKEE KING - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
CEPHEUS - broke at the start and trailed the field. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start manners.
MAJESTIC HARRY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
PARIS UNDER SIEGE - broke passing the 400m checking a trailing runner and lost its chance.
EMPRESS OF THE SUN - broke entering the first turn and trailed the field. Broke passing the 700m and again near the 200m. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
BULLER WHITEBAIT - Trainer D Gale advised Stewards that the mare would be racing in season.
